You think Apple would build into Tahoe a 500 nits white border around the screen or down below the dock to illuminate the keyboard from the panel. Might be a good app for a developer to create.🤔💡no backlit keyboard in 2026 is shameful.
$499 is the EDU price which can be gotten by anybody as Apple doesn't "check". Nothing dishonest about it at all so behave.Called this. A lot of narrative around the value here at $499 was so blatantly dishonest for two reasons. One, that is not the starting price.
I would say that the mac is overpriced without the student discount.
A bit a surprise because Touch ID is not a huge dealI wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more for Touch ID. I’d wonder if it was just a storage bump would it be as much demand
Who is a good candidate for this thing?
I can see the birth of the MR mega thread: MacBook Neo as an iPad replacement. 😂Somebody who was cross shopping an iPad with keyboard to do basic tasks

Loving that tracker. Thank you!Indistinguishable from new, same warranty. Best way to buy anything Apple if available, IMO.
Also, pro tip, if you’re looking for a specific config of something, Refurb Tracker will alert you when it appears on Apple's site.
I'm happy you live near an Apple store. Last time I went to an apple store it was picking up my M1 Macbook Pro, in covid times so it was an outside pickup lol. and that only worked because it was an impulse buy and I was transiting through LondonYeah so those shipping times are meaningless. Walk into an Apple store and pick one up.
Like when the latest iPhone launches. "OMG the iPhone 19 Pro Max Ultra 256GB dusty blue shipping time has slipped to 2029 😱😱"
The nearest Apple Store is 120 miles away. 🤔Yeah so those shipping times are meaningless. Walk into an Apple store and pick one up.

Just curious, but when was the last time you looked at a key to press it? I think it’s a unique decision to drop it, but then I realized I haven’t looked at a key in so long it seem a simple way to save. Although they could have added it to more expensive version with 512gbno backlit keyboard in 2026 is shameful.
The refurbed Air is certainly an enticing option at that price point. Still a few factors in favor of the Neo, but that is definitely a better value for many/most users.Apple refurbished is great. If memory serves, you'll get the same warranty as BNIB.
For $50 more, you now have a P3 display, true tone, haptic trackpad, legitimate Thunderbolt ports - which can push up to 2 4K displays at 144Hz each, all on top of 16GB of RAM and a better sound system.
You crushed it Bro.

It's also possible that they made twice as many silver and indigo ones, and the yellowish one is still selling fewer units than the others, but just more relative to what was initially built for each color. How is that green abomination selling faster than indigo or silver? I say that as someone who's favourite colour is green.
I look at my keys all the time and since 99.9% of laptops have a backlit keyboard I'm assuming most other people do too.
The 512 is the better consumer model and the better model for a student to buy themselves if they (or family) can afford the extra $100.Beucase it's only 100 more and you can get 100 as discount if you're a student - so basically the upgrade is free?
