...for this list. I was hoping to buy a MacBook Retina in store on April 10th (oh me the naive one with such lofty aspirations). Phoned Apple Retail @ 10am who confirmed there is no stock in any London store. Demo or for sale. So I sang them a little song on the phone to help relieve my fustration

(to the music of Meghan Trainor's All About That Bass)...

Because you know it's all about that watch,
'Bout that watch, no macbook
It's all 'bout that watch, 'bout that watch, no macbook
It's all 'bout that watch, 'bout that watch, no macbook
It's all 'bout that watch, 'bout that watch, no macbook

Yeah it's pretty clear, I ain't no iWatch lover boy
But I do want that MacBook they promised us last month..
'Cause I got that credit card that all the stores chase
But it's all the wrong stock in all the wrong places
I see the magazines working that MacBook
We know it just ain't here
Come on now, make it here
If you got stock stock just raise 'em up
'Cause every inch of you is perfect
From the bottom to the top
Yeah, my momma she told me don't worry about the store stock
She says, Apple they just like to play games with your head
You know I just won't have no iWatch, metallic strap-on
So, if that's what's you're into
Then go ahead and move along

:)

When you get your Macbook you can use GarageBand!! LOL

London Regent Street

I popped in and they still don't have the macbook even to look at and play with.

Two of the staff are.embarrassed by the screwup and the lack of info from HQ.

One of the staff did say to me that the macbook could run Photoshop for image editing ... ... Because the iPad can do it. Pressed further he said it was a mistake to think of the performance to only depend on CPU. The Ram and disk were super faster to make overall computing fluid.

Is that official advice? ;)

Ps most if the floor is now dedicted to iwatches. Looks like a fashion store now.

After reading all of the BB stories of having to manually enter it, it sounds like there might be a "release date" for it at BB stores that is around the time Apple stores have it too.

BB might take their delivery FOB so it comes in as its own import separate from Apple store stock. Which was coordinated separately from Apple store distribution. Anyone know who manages wholesale for Apple? Maybe they screwed up...

Munich, Germany

Been to Apple Store here where I live (Munich, Germany) on April 10th afternoon and Macbook was nowhere to be found. Employee actually told me there are NO macbooks in WHOLE GERMANY whatsoever!

I find this completely unbelievable. Bad timing too, as ppl fully concentrate on Apple Watch.

This might be not completely related, but I start to smell Jony Ive's burnout. He is working on so many fronts that there is no way he can keep that tempo up. That will eventually result in mistakes and miscalculations. He really needs a fella in the team. Remember that guy Marc Newson joining? I can't see what the heck is he working on!

Best Buy - 5th Ave (NY)

has on display and just bought one this morning - after going into Grand Central and being told no we don't have them for sale but I can help you order one online (gee, thanks)

I am glad for you guys that are getting them early. I never liked this online only policy, but I have to admit it surprises me that Best Buy is selling them earlier than Apple. I can't imagine Apple would be pleased if they knew.

If Apple stores will truly just be a showroom, but Best Buy will sell in brick and mortar, I could see myself browsing in the Apple stores then heading to Best Buy in person. I am okay with waiting until the 17th for my in store pickup, but no way would I wait 4-6 weeks if I could walk into Best Buy and get one now.

It reminds me of people "showrooming," when you browse at brick and mortar stores then buy online at Amazon for cheaper once you know you like the product. I prefer looking at things at the Apple store - better lighting, more selection, better salespeople...but would definitely opt to buy at Best Buy if it means immediate access to the product over weeks of waiting.

It is embarrassing.
It seems it's the same deal as with the watch, just on a smaller scale. I waited until the 10th to order the MB because I wanted to see it and possibly buy it on the spot. Now I'm wondering why I didn't just preorder way before the 10th.

About PS, I'm sure it will work fine. Speed and amount of RAM is a big deal, and in any case people have used PS for many years, when CPUs were much slower.

Can you share some pix of the useless macbookless party they have in there?

did their store inventory show as one being available?
or did it show 0 and they actually had to go to the back to look?

I called them when they opened, they asked for the model number and looked it up and said they had some (but only a small number) so I ran over - they had them right under the display units locked up

So Best Buy have them before? I'm so disgusted!

I have to say this is a pretty big fail on Apples part. As others have said obviously they do not "get" the culture and interest the Apple stores created and helped push Apple forward.

I guess the old adage is true: if it ain't broke definitely break it...oh wait.

Now THAT'S embarrassing. Even if they did communicate better this employee, they aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Apple has fallen. It used to be that the staff knew their stuff. Not anymore.

The new head of retail is from a fashion house and it shows.

Oh yeah, you're right. I wish I could say that makes me feel better though...

I know exactly how you feel. If only Apple had kept us fully informed from the outset rather than leading us to believe that the 10th April was the launch date for the MacBook when it would be available for immediate shipping and also allowing us to assume that it would be on sale in store.

It's a total shambles in my opinion.

You say that like a fashion house isn't a legit business. I don't get all the hate on Angela just because she is from fashion. I guess MR folks don't see that companies like Burberry and LVMH are massive multi-billion dollar global companies.

It is a legit business if you're in the market for overpriced gear that is about appearance over comfort and function. Plus it's all our of date in 6 months.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be a tech company that due that. It'll just be different from what apple customers expected.
