Maybe Angela being a coat / fashion person doesn't even own a computer and would never think of wanting to get on the first days it comes out.

She might be a watch type but as for a techie, she's not "one of us". How could she understand, without some time in her job, what the core apple computer market is looking for.

Hopefully, she'll spend some of her $50MM and buy a computer and try it out.

What is really amusing is the worry about queues that is apparently coming from her. Yet, the LV store in Paris always has a queue of women (some are accompanied by their bored looking husbands/boyfriends) outside, because they only allow a certain number of people into the store at a time.

I can confirm that Australia also has:

Chadstone (Melbourne, VIC): Displayed, not available

Also, according to a thread on an Australian tech forum, Australia also has

Broadway (Sydney, NSW): Displayed, not available
Robina (Gold Coast, QLD): Displayed, not available
Brisbane CBD (Brisbane, QLD): Displayed, not available
Canberra Centre (Canberra, ACT): Displayed, not available

The general feeling is that apple stores in Australia started receiving display models from Thurs 16th April, but no stock available to purchase.

Get down to jb hifi (aus equivalent of BB). Chadstone, Elizabeth St and Bourke St (Melbourne Vic) stores all have stock in various configs. Off to bourke to pick up mine now.

Awwwww see? All that crying by people from other countries in here thinking they had to wait months and Australia is already getting stock a few days after Best Buy and still before US Apple stores.

Yep. JB Hifi in Chadstone has received some stock of macbooks. I went in and bought a space-gray 1.1ghz. I also asked the guy how many they have in stock, and he mentioned they received 12.

Any display units in Sydney, George St.?

Congratulations! You must be one of the first people is Oz to get your hands on one.

Anyone know whether there are any display units in Sydney yet?

That's interesting - sounds similar to the situation in the US, where Best Buy has been getting them but they are still not in the Apple Stores.

Just went to Kingston-Upon-Thames Apple Store. Lots of big photos of the MacBook, none to look at.

Ridiculous.

Birmingham Bull Ring Store

Popped into the Birmingham Bull Ring Store.

Same story.. No idea when the macbook will be on display. They told ms to buy it online but couldn't respond when I said I wanted to see how it worked in real life first.

As I posted in the physical availability thread, I was told the date of the 24th for instore demo models and actually availability so don't know if this is UK wide?

Was told in Leeds Apple Store 24/04 for demo units and maybe some stock

chatted with Apple for Canadian in store stock. and here's what I was told

Q... is there any on-sale?
A... no

Q when will there be any in store?
A.. it's not announced yet (What???)

Q.... Is there any in demo?
A... YES (awesome news)

Q... Can you tell me where?
A.... No, have to call store (then why do you tell me yes if you don't even know?)

Q... what's faster? order online and wait 4-6 weeks or wait for store?
A.... We don't know if the store is getting any (hmm... why have a store then?)

In short... more frustration

Does anyone know when will the new MacBook be displayed/in stock (even better) in Germany Apple Stores? :)

What a stupid thing to say. You can be a techie and be stylish. We're not all hoody-wearing geeks!

Angela will have had almost no input in to the manufacturing process and that's what has affected availability. Stop reading too much in to things. She's barely been in the job for more than a few weeks!

And let's face it, it's not an unreasonable request. It's probably only the hardcore fans that have bought the laptop effectively blind.

I would love to see another company try this, they'd probably get laughed at! :D

Tis true, I'm a techie geek and a designer fan. My poor bank balance! :D

It's actually quite funny, well not really but you know what I mean! :D

It's absurd how short supply is for brick and mortar Apple stores. Never thought I'd see the day that Best Buy actually comes thru and has units available to take home on launch day.

I like your balanced and level-headed approach, but someone must be accountable for the roll out; who is responsible if not her? It is all about the bottom line.

She's not responsible for manufacturing delays. She is responsible for communicating accurately with customers who may be disappointed or frustrated by manufacturing delays. Apple's customer communications on the rMB have been at best confused, unclear and contradictory. The way non-US customers have been treated is simply astonishing. A big thumbs down.
