You are in kinda a populated area so it may be harder to find but if you go to the Best buy website and pick the unit you would like, you can then check availability with you zip code.

I wouldn't count on the online availability check working. I visited 3 best buy stores in the Minneapolis area a week or so ago. This was after checking the online inventory that showed zero. But two of the stores had one or two units actually in stock. Just not the gold color models.

OK do not try but all three stores in my city have them in stock in North Florida. But no reason for anyone to look so that the people who try can get one!

In Store Availability?

Hi everyone,

I live in Colombia where unfortunately there are no Apple Stores, only "premium resellers" who have look a like Apple Stores in the big malls here and resell products. Because of this, everything is about 1.5-2X the price of the U.S. and delayed several months. I just bought the "new" iPhone 6+ 16GB for $1,275 USD two months ago.

I have an upcoming trip to the U.S. mid to late May and was hoping to buy the new MacBook and pay the customs fee to bring it over. However, I have seen some posts saying that this product isn't available in stores to buy? Is there an estimated date on when one could without doubt find one in a store, or is this going to be hit and miss for sometime now?

I don't think that any Apple Store anywhere in the world has had MacBooks to sell as yet and as far as I know there is no clear information as to when they will be available.

Some people in the USA have managed to buy through Best Buy stores but the vast majority seem to have come from online orders.

Not great news for you I'm afraid.

Unless anyone else knows something that I don't...

Barton Creek Mall Apple Store Austin TX has several in stock. Was just there they had the high end config (no gold) and the silver in the base model.

Anyone in Austin, TX looking Barton Creek Mall has several configs/colors. They don't show online for in store pickup but I just left the Apple store and they had the high end (no gold) and the base in silver only.

That's a pretty broad generalization. I was just at the Palo Alto and Stanford stores and they both have the base model in Silver. Stanford received some space gray yesterday, but those went pretty quickly.

If you need one, best to order online. I am looking for a gold model, and will probably order one soon.

Yes it is (was), based on my understanding from what I've read here. I am in England. I stand corrected. You'll appreciate that there was no intention to mislead in any way.

I was simply trying to help the poster from South America who didn't get a response until I replied.

I am glad that the situation has been clarified. :)

Best bet would probably be to order online and have it shipped to someone you know and might meet during the trip. Good luck

So glad I pounced on the Best Buy availability. Ordered 4/15 and received 4/17. Really enjoying it. Love the keyboard, the size, color, etc. Got 1.2 space gray and canceled my online 1.3 order.

Order it online and do in store pickup

I know for a fact that the availability checker for retail stores only works once the inventory exceeds a certain threshold number (I think this is done to avoid disappointment if someone rushes over to a store and discovers their only machine was sold)

exactly. I just walked into my local best buy and they have 4 in stock, yet online shows zero stock.

Apple Store White City (London) had both the Gold and Silver ones in stock in both configurations. They were surprised to have received stock this morning. Probably means the other London stores got them too.

I wonder if anywhere else in UK? Will go to a store on Tuesday to check out.

Best Buy

I had posted my experience in a couple of threads. You will not get the true status by going online or calling the store. The stores may have stock and it may be worth your while to just visit the store and check availability directly. Most people including me have had better luck that way.

Visiting Apple store is useless. You are better off with Best Buy especially considering the discounts you can get. No brainer.

Love the keyboard!

Is no one updating the original post? I posted twice last week about display stock in Edinburgh but post us still showing no display.

There's a separate thread for us UK store customers. Best keep UK stock levels to that thread.

I have stopped to edit it as it is too much time consuming and now it is available in display almost everywhere...

For those that are in the Long Beach area, I managed to get a stock 1.1GHZ Space Grey Macbook from the Best Buy out there. I drove from Santa Monica to get it, and it was definitely worth it.

I'm actually quite amazed at how emotional I feel when I use this notebook. The 12" screen reminds me of the first 12" Powerbook G4 I bought myself when I was in high school, and the thin profile definitely brings me back to when I bought the first generation Macbook Air.

Jony wasn't kidding when he said this notebook took a collection of individuals from different disciplines to create it. I always valued OS X more than iOS on a productivity machine, and this new Macbook gets the best of both worlds from a hardware perspective.

Very happy to have this mighty little notebook in my lineup :)

I went to the Apple store at the Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood, WA yesterday to check out the new MB. In the ten minutes that I was there, I saw two people walk out with new Macbooks. I guess they do have them in stock.
I didn't ask what colors and configurations.
