Honolulu, Hawaii - Ala Moana store - display only, none for sale. They open in five minutes so I wil see it then. There are about 25 people outside, all seem to be for watches only.

Just saw it - I am in love! It is ridiculously light, and I actually prefer the keyboard. The gold is beautiful in person but I am going space gray.

I returned the Air I bought a couple of days ago and am ordering one of these instead. They offered to have it shipped to my hotel, but honestly I am nervous it would not come in time so I am just ordering for store pickup in LA. I am sorry to pay $80 more in sales tax but that seems safer than risking delivery here in Hawaii.

After all your blabbing about being on vacation you got all worked up for nothing. Not sure why you wouldn't just enjoy your vacation and get your laptop when you get home. Live your vacation, jeez.

Chip on your shoulder much? Because the sales tax is 6% higher where I live. That is nothing to sneeze at when it is a $1300 purchase.

let's say your sales tax is 9%, 3% difference. for 1300 dollars is just like $40.

i'd say a relax, fun vacation is worth more than that.

just relax, enjoy your vacation. and maybe check stores on your last day, if they have it, then you get it. if they don't, it's just we are all out of luck. don't let it ruin your vacation

smile:)

Guys it is not ruining my vacation, I appreciate the concern, but it took 10 minutes to walk down here - no biggie. And it is 4% here, 10% in SoCal. No worries, it didn't ruin anything, I just would have preferred to get it in hand today - like a lot of us. :)

I'm in CA and the online store charged me 9%. I suppose local tax ? That said, it still says "estimated tax".

----------

Americana (Glendale, CA) - 12 units on display, no stock.

The girl I asked said that as far as she knew, it was online only, and she had no idea when they would have them for sale.

Scottsdale, AZ: On display, none available. 100% gorgeous.

It is, isn't it? I had some reservations but they melted away when I saw it and picked it up. I probably would have stuck with the Air if it was my only computer but for on the go, this thing was stunning and oh so light. The Apple guy laughed and said he wants his Air to die so he can justify getting one. I know it has limitations but for my uses it is sufficient. And that screen was stunning. I am eagerly awaiting April 22nd. :)

If you really want to save money you should buy Louis Vuitton from Hawaii. They sell them cheaper than "mainland." That's what I do when a vacation there :D

You can save money by buying from Best Buy and using 10% movers coupon available from your post office. Go to the post office and ask for change of address packet and coupon should be included in that packet.

I just spoke to the Boylston Street Boston store again. They do have display models out now, but here's what they told me about in-store availability: expected on April 24. Is that the brightest idea you've heard in a while???

Yeah, put both crowd for MacBook and watch together on one day, brilliant idea. :)

Honolulu Sales Tax = 4.5%
Los Angeles Sales Tax = 9% (relatively low compared to us up here in north CA)

So you save 4.5% buying in Honolulu... $58 bux... whoopeeeeee.

For $58 bucks I'd worry about it when I got home and enjoy my vacation.

4.5 in Honolulu, 9.0 in LA, but whatever.... now we're talking pennies.

I just called the Apple Store In Naperville and the expected store stock date for the new MacBook is the 24th.

I was just told the same thing in Boston. Let's look at this. Supposedly the reason for not having store inventory is to avoid crowding the Watch. Grrr, ok. So now, what's the plan? To have it show up in stores...on the same day they start delivering the Watch? Either this is bad info or someone in Cupertino has seriously taken leave of their senses.

International Plaza in Tampa has two tables with display models. I don't know if they were selling any today because I was just there looking to test drive the keyboard. It's an ok keyboard. I did notice it takes a bit more effort to depress the keys vs say pro keyboard. The unit is the perfect size for tossing in a bag and going about your day. If I consider buying one, it will be off the refurb store. It's certainly not worth $1299.

The track pad is simply amazing. You'd never know there are no moving parts and the clicking impression is very real.
