I went to the Apple Store in Covent Garden, London, a few days after the iPhone 6/6+ launch to pick up a new case and cable for my iPhone 5. While the Apple guy was processing my payment, another customer who wanted to pay for his brandspanking new iPhone 6 joined us. The Apple guy immediately began gushing "Oh my god, it's so stunning, I'm so jealous!! I still have the lame old 5, hope it dies soon, perhaps I've got to speed up that process a bit" ... I laughed and said "Hey! I love my trusty 5" Apple guy furrowed his brow as if I had just admitted to eating roadkill "Really? It's seriously no match for the 6... so small and slow..." which of course is true, but still a bit harsh to say to a customer, who is just buying expensive accessories for the 5. :D

Reading how your Apple guy wished for his MBA's death made me think that this might even be a company-wide marketing strategy. Perhaps Apple employees are advised to promote new products to such an extent that even verbally slamming their own older models is perfectly acceptable. Obsolescence management at its finest! I'm fascinated!

Sorry for that little excursion, back to the rMB!

All three colors on display. I have to admit its very peculiar typing on the even thinner keyboard, though I daily a CODE keyboard with MX Clears. In hand it impresses just like my second gen 2011 air did as my first foray into apple.

Noticed the Birmingham Bull Ring UK store isn't listed. Visited today and predictably there are none on display, and none available. They had no idea when they would get them in.

They did offer me an on the spot watch try-on appointment though, which I wasn't expecting.

South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA had 6 on display but none for sale of course. That's the highest grossing retail center in the country and the Apple Store is always packed and well stocked on product. If they don't have it, you won't find it anywhere.

They aren't picking up and haven't since yesterday. Car's in the shop so don't want to Uber over there for no reason. Will try another store.

Edit: Called another store. Local market according to her, has none in stock and according to their system, they don't even know when they'll get any.

I just called a local best buy here in the Portland, OR area and he said no best buy in the Northwest has them yet but they are expecting them in store in the next week. So I wonder what made jasonj566 think they were in stock. I would love to know which store and I would go drive and check.

pretty much the same here. the first store i called, the guy didnt even know there was a 12inch macbook.

I'm sure they didn't. No stores anywhere have them. The person you talked to in the phone probably just looked up the 13" MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, not knowing there was a new MacBook.

I was on Mars during the launch yesterday. They didn't have Apple Watch pre-orders for Mars yet, but our Radio Shack had available stock for the new MacBooks.

So I bought one.

Then I woke up and lied about it on Mac Rumors. Oh, all the fun I had! It put me in such a good mood I went to Best Buy and bought an iPad Pro.

True story!
