I keep going back and forth dammit! Right when I think I will get this laptop something else pops into my mind that I hook up to the computer. What good is portability if you have 4 damn adapters!

gold seems to be the model that is always low in supply.

I thought I saw a USB-C adapter that had four USB ports? If that's the case all you need is that one adapter and you get four USB ports along with a charging port all in one small item.

what about an external display? That is what I mean. I don't see a single adapter that has USB, power, and external display.

I don't think my situation is that unique. I am sure tons of people "dock" when they get to work and use clamshell mode. I don't need the power of a pro, but I would need the ports in seems.

You mean more than one USB right? Because it exists with one USB. Even if you put that into a hub that's two adapters instead of four. I understand your situation though, but it might just mean you'll need a dock which kind of offsets the size advantage, which leads to a bigger machine being more appropriate for your requirements.

I was definitely exaggerating with 4 adapters, but yeah it would take me 2. I "want" the new rMB, but I really do not use a computer out and about that much. I dock it when I get to work (sometimes am mobile at work), but nothing screams I need portability.

It would look like the Flying Spaghetti Monster perched itself on the left side of the new rMB. :)
(iOS auto-capitalized FSM LOL)

Yeah...but what's the difference between looking like the Flying Spaghetti Monster (the rMB) and looking like the Great Shiny Arachnid (my rMPB, with various things plugged into its ports)? The number of cables is the same. Arguably the dongle is a better cable management solution.

That assumes that I can use a USB 3 hub on the dongle, which seems likely but with USB hubs I've learned the hard way not to take things for granted.

I'll finally be able to make it to an Apple store on Thursday. Hopefully they have display models.

Hey US East Coasters. Anyone walked into Apple Store this morning? Situation?

I have just been checking online. I do not think the stores will get stock until Wednesday at best based on in store pick ups not being ready until then.

The Plaza apple store in KC, MO had one table of display models. Two of each color.

The Leawood, KS apple store had TWO tables of display models. Two of each color on each table. I'm really surprised they didn't just do one table and send the rest to other stores.

I ordered last night and it said 4-6 weeks :(

After reading all the information I'm confident enough to say stores will receive inventory Thursday. It seems there is a second wave of shipments and it includes people who ordered online and inventory to stores.

This morning the Apple store in New Haven, Ct had display models but no idea when stock was coming in.

Sigh. Looks like Thursday availability at stores is likely. Mine should be here on Thursday according to Fedex, but I'm taking off to a week long vacation overseas on Wed (really Tue night). I'm expecting some light weight work needing to be done (reviewing designs, giving directions, some spec work etc) and would love to have the rMB to reduce the traveling weight and have a proper use case trial. I guess my MBA11" will be with me, which is by all means, light and thin enough. ;)

This morning I checked out the Apple Store in Berlin (Germany) - no MacBook :(

Kurfürstendamm (Berlin): not displayed, not available.

Les 4 temps France

I ask for the mac book to the manager:
His answer:
"Probably this week, for sure next week. If after next week there is an issue"
It is not displayed
