I didn't really understand why people who ordered the exact same configuration as me, using the same EDU discount, and ordered up to 9 days after me were already receiving their rMBP's. Don't really care but I was curious as to why that was, so I called Apple. The rep couldn't explain it either but he did gift a free USB SuperDrive. :)

Back to waiting! So excited for it to at least transition to preparing for shipment.

Same situation here. Ordered base model on the 23rd. Status changed to preparing for shipment yesterday morning and this morning changed to shipped with estimated delivery of July 6.

Calling shenanigans on this one too.

I have found my package... it is about 5 miles away.from being held till Tuesday. I'm going to go hold the fedex store hostage and demand my MacBook ... it was nice knowing all of you.

He has even showed you the order number!

It's useless without zip code, so I remain skeptical. Sorry, it just denotes more randomness in what is otherwise an orderly -- and automated -- process than I believe exists. A lot of the idiosyncrasies we've seen so far do make some sense to me, but this one is just too far outside the realm of reasonability.

6/13 9am order - SHIPPED 6/30 6 AM MDT

2.6/16/512 ordered on line after waiting to see in store and couldn't find any rMBPs to look at.
So I ordered sight unseen (and still haven't seen one in person)
Now I don't even want to go to the stores to see one.
Can't wait to unbox when it gets here - am ready to be blown away, fall in love, etc !!!

6/13 9 AM MDT ordered on line EDU with w/ Ether and VGA adapters
Given estimate of 7/12-18 (3 to 4 weeks)

6/29 9 PM MDT went to Prep for Shipping (16 days and 12 hours)

6/30 6 AM MDT went to SHIPPED (9 hours)

7/5 or 7/6 Estimated Delivery from Apple and FED-X (5 or 6 days shipping)

Here's hoping for a Tuesday July 3rd delivery.

Is it too late to call and beg for a Super Drive????

P.S. I had my order in the original spreadsheet and have filled out the updates.
Thanks everyone for the crowd sourcing adventure!
Shipping to Denver, CO

My apologies to BertoM. That order is legit, and I should not have jumped to conclusions. Wow. Was there anything special about your order that would have made it ship faster?

Just want to make sure, but the HD is upgradable on the rMBPs right? Although it's proprietary I remember reading that it was.

It is likely there will be aftermarket HDs for it since it is on a removable daughterboard. OWC will probably be the first to do it as they've mentioned interest and they have the resources to develop them for the proprietary SATA connection.

The question is how good the controller will be compared to the stock drives, which have one of the best controllers money can buy.

If you go to your Apple order status page there is a link to print out a special form to leave for FedEx if you can't be home to receive the package.

Awesome thanks so much for that tip! Now my June 23rd order just needs to ship lol.

Only thing weird about it was I ordered at like 2AM but I don't think that would make a difference. Just the normal education discount.

EDIT: Also, I had to give my dad the money and order it using his credit card as I do not have one. My bill to and ship to therefore are different.

----------

Stil not a bad result if you ordered on the 23rd - Apparently Apple are shipping out really fast anyway. YGM.

Ya, hopefully. Guess no free superdrive for me.

I sent you a note about that - not the superdrive.

Dude, WTF! I ordered my 2.7/16/768 on June 11 at 1 PM PST and mine still says processing. Delivery is CA.

I have to add that I was in the 3-5 week group for some reason. I also ordered it through the Buisness Apple Team.

But still there is no justice!

Same situation here. Ordered immediately when the store opened on the 11th and got the 3-5 week estimate. Sounds like if I would have ordered a day LATER, I would have the computer SOONER. Makes no sense...

HD?

SSD you mean?
Anyway the power of the SSD used in the rMBP is the speedy customized Samsung controller. Not sure if the aftermarket SSD's will have that speedy controller included.
