Timeframe hasn't changed, still 3 - 4 Weeks :(

Same here. Ordered on 24/6 base model and it's still processing. The Est. Delivery Date is 19-25.

I will be ordering from abt.com as soon as the sales department opens so that I may get the education pricing. It's the best way to go right now. I paid $2179 + 8.25% tax + $15 expedited shipping. Now I can pay $2179 flat. I lose out on the $100 iTunes card, but I save $195 off Apple AND I'll get it 2 weeks before I do from Apple. Estimated delivery date of 7/30-8/3.

As expected, I went to 'Shipped' within a few hours from 'Preparing'. Apple quotes delivery by Wednesday, July 18, but FedEx has me scheduled for delivery on the morning of Tuesday, July 17. It's gonna be a long weekend....

Apples Delivery and Production policy is a bunch of ********.
So with the estimated delivery range of 2-3 Weeks (8/3-8/9) now, one would gonna get it earlier than when I'm gonna get mine. I ordered it on July 4th (delivery: 8/7-8/13).

My only concern with reseller would be the return policy - apple let's us return rmbps for very tiny cosmetic flaws, over and over if needed till we are happy. Does abt allow this?

Abt is in Chicago and has been established for a very long time. They ARE an Apple authorized retailer. Customer service and sales people are excellent.
As an example, Joshua who works for ABT has been kind enough to post on here to help people with their questions about orders and inventory.
What else do you need......

However, they would need stock in hand to be able to even exchange it for you. To further this question, since this will be my first Mac, couldn't I just take it into the Apple Store since I'm going to get Apple Care and have them exchange it? I'm thinking this would depend on who you get as a service adviser or "genius." My brother has a long relationship with Apple as he has several hundred Apple products, so I'd just have him switch it out I suppose.

Now it says:

2 - 3 Weeks
Estimated Delivery: 08 Aug, 2012 - 14 Aug, 2012 :rolleyes:

Maybe I'll get my MBPr sooner than expected :D

Sound more like a change in shipping speed than anything else. Haha. No change in my status with dates of 7/30-8/3. However, I will be cancelling my order in about 30 minutes.
 
Does anyone know from which point you receive your tracking number/ shipment status?

I ordered with student discount so my order (rMBP and gift card for students) gets assembled at a TNST centre of apple, in my case Tilburg in Holland.

Well now do i receive the shipping status/ tracking number when my rMBP leaves the factory of Shanghai?

Or do i receive the shipping status/tracking number when my complete order (rMBP and student gift card) leaves the TNST at Tilburg in Holland?

Just saw that too... Although the way Apple has been processing orders, I doubt it :(

I'm a 2.3/16/256 on 6/28 - Still processing and looks like I have another week or so before any movement.

I don't think you'll get treated the same at the apple store if you purchased from a third party, sure warranty/applecare still applies, but I'd probably expect a repair instead of an exchange if you didn't buy it from them.

Personally I'm staying with direct purchase from Apple.. My 2012 OCD story: so I bought a cMBP and gave my old 09MBP to dad for Father's Day last month. OCD'd so bad I ordered a 16/2.3/256 retina a week or so later and planned to return the cMBP. Then the next day I cancelled the retina order , returned the cMBP and got an ultimate air as I didn't think I'd be able to wait it out.... 1 week later was so OCD again that I returned the air and got a 8/512/2.6 retina in stock in TO, telling myself 8 would be enough RAM as I was happy with an ultimate air at 8.. Next day :) I placed an order online for a 16/512/2.6 retina and the apple store has since agreed to extend my return period till the BTO ships due to business needs.

Oh forgot to mention the cMBP I initially got had a very crooked right arrow key so I had exchanged it for another, and that one had an ever so slightly crooked up arrow key and I exchanged it again without even making it out of the store.

Is ABT going to do business with me? I don't think so. Frankly I'm surprised my picture isnt posted in the apple stores with a caption stating not to sell me any computers :D

And before anyone starts snapping out on me for all the returns, I pay FULL PRICE and don't 'steal' the EDU discount. All these machines will become refurbs and get resold for probably as much money as Apple gets on a fraudulent EDU purchase, so I don't feel bad one bit!
 
Mine was scheduled for delivery on Monday the 16th but it is out for delivery today the 13th and that is with the standard shipping method. Awesome can not wait.

You're not alone. Mine is in the same shipment and has the same delayed status.

I did expedited shipping and was pleased to see the shipment made a big hop directly from Shanghai to Memphis. I started thinking the delivery might be early beating the Monday estimate. Now I'm not so hopeful.

Searching for similar status messages. There weren't many, but there were a few. One was because the forms were illegible. Things were squared away later that day. However, in another, the delay was a couple of days. :(

I woulda liked to have it for the weekend, but if it gets here by Monday it would make it by the first estimated delivery date of 7/16-7/20. :cool:
