Advice please:

rMBP is on a plane to Memphis right now - will arrive at 12:27am. I live in Columbus, OH. I know Saturday deliveries aren't happening (so we think). Is there no chance it will at least make it to the Columbus facility tomorrow? Just debating on whether I should try to have them hold it at the facility if it makes it there tomorrow, or if I should just ride it out until Monday.

Monday. In the same position for the most part.

It might, I'm watching for the same thing. There is a chance mine will arrive at 6am in Baltimore, and then to the local facility in the morning. I'm watching it and will call them if it gets there.

I don't want to place a hold on it because there are 2 distribution centers used for me, one is 40 miles away, one is 5. If it gets to the 40 miles one, I can wait until Monday.

Preparing for shipment!! Wondering when the soonest is I can get it. :D Hopefully by Wednesday, since I have 2-3 day shipping. Does anyone know if they will be shipping these out over the weekend?

Nothing would make me happier than if fedex delivers on saturday. I'm without a computer and I have the weekend off.

I bought a 13" base today, scheduled and picked it up in store... then went to Fry's and bought a Momentus XT 750GB. This machine will replace a 2011 MacBook Air and 2011 iMac 27" :) Though I'm not sure how to feel about the screen real estate.

I did not pay for the expedite shipping when i order. But i manage to get free upgrade for the shipping method by make a quick call to Apple support. hope this help others. This manage to bump my estimate delivery date several day earlier.

I like many here had a scheduled delivery of Monday and after noticing it was at my local FedEx this morning I called to see if it would have a chance to be delivered or if I could place it on hold. They said it was on the truck and wouldn't be unloaded until this weekend for delivery on Monday, so I hung up dissappointed :(.

Right after hanging up I check the FedEx status and it showed on truck for delivery :D. So I actually received it a couple of days early, and btw, it's amazing! Makes my old mbp look fat.

I would imagine times will improve.

Just cancelled mine for example in the 2-3 week shipping range. So someone at least will get theirs quicker.

Reason for cancel the screen. It just sounds like too hard work in system preference etc. and the lag issues and the under power of the HD4000 for retina and indeed the 650m at higher res.

I don't think the world/hardware Specs apple included are ready for Retina yet.

That was a silly reason to cancel.

There are no lag issues. I demoed a RMBP at an Apple Store today, I opened up 20 safari windows and hit the expose button several times. No lag, was using the integrated graphics.

The people complaining of lag issues are either a) trolling, b) having unrelated software issues or c) using a computer at an Apple Store that has been bogged down with 100's of users messing with stuff.

So i ordered the base model on monday. I live in Dallas. It arrived in Anchorage on the 14th and left on the 3:35 flight to memphis. It should land in about 10 or so minutes. Does anyone know how it works from there? Do they ship it from there as soon as they can to Dallas? or do they just keep it till tomorrow and then ship it?

Mines on the same flight, I'm in Colorado however.

Memphis is a Fedex SUPER-Hub. From there smaller express flights will fly stuff from their SUPER-Hub to their Not-so-SUPER-Hubs like in major cities (ie. Commerce City/Denver here in Colorado)

From there typically large freight (think semis or large 12 wheel trucks) or even ground from there. Depending on your location to the hub.

Just ordered a Macbook Pro Retina from the online store after 20 + years of windows usage :p... hence my first post

Only problem right now is I can expect:

Leaves Apple:
3 - 4 Weeks

Receive it:
18 Jul - 24 Jul

Which seems like a massive bummer :(

I'm not very up to date with Apples' supply chain, can anyone chime in if that's a hard delivery date? Should I cancel my order and try my luck going to an apple store and buying it retail? I live beside an apple store.

Thanks!

Thanks! I chose to do the pick up from the FedEx Kinkos right next to my house because i was scared i wouldn't be there when they delivered it. Do you think we will get it tomorrow??

Edit: The FedEx tracker just showed the flight just landed!! Lets see where this goes.

The ones on this forum (myself included) that have been able to purchase a MBPr at an apple store have been extremely lucky. You can try Best Buy as they seem to be more reliable with stock than Apple is atm. Most stores seem to have only been getting 1-2 to sell every couple days and sell out almost immediately after a shipment arrives.

Definitely not. I doubt the turn around time from landing in Memphis to leaving on the smaller flights will be instant. I'd venture to guess they're going to be sitting all night in Memphis, and go out on flights Saturday morning.

Those flights will land Saturday afternoon, and probably hit final distribution centers at the latest Sunday afternoon. From there, on trucks at 6AM Monday for delivery.

Fedex doesn't do Saturday delivery as far as I know, and they are obviously in no rush because our packages sat in Alaska for 26 hours lol.

I could be wrong however. I have amazon prime and purchase a lot of things regularly so I tend to get used to the way next day air and stuff like that works. Especially if you order on a Friday and the carriers have time to go slow for 3 days over the weekend.
;)

Hi I'm in the 3-4 weeks delivery slot too.

The 3-4 weeks ETA is the worst-case scenario, most of the 3-5 days people already received their shipments 1-2 days earlier than expected, so I assume the 7-10 days, 2-3 weeks peeps will also get their items earlier than their ETA. To reach the 3-4 weeks people Apple has to deliver the RMBP to all of the customers in front of us in the queue. Don't worry, I think ours will take only 3 weeks rather than 4. Still, it's a long wait :(

The last outbound flight from Memphis on Saturdays is 4:23am. So they'd arrive well before Afternoon. Though I agree there isn't much of a chance of saturday deliveries.
