the day that I thought would never come is here. my machine is preparing for shipment. 2.6/16/512 ordered 6/28 through Apple.com. Shipping to Brooklyn, NY
It's looking like the 2.6's are going out before the 2.3's.

an open authorisation goes against your credit card right when you order... and apple settles the position essentially upon shipping date..
so you'll see an auth (instruction recieved) from whenever you did your order and then the posting will come instantly when it ships, its going to be kind of sudden as the auth did happen even if you dont see anything today (auths come off 3-5 days later)
basically apple closes their position upon shipment. Its weird because it will come out of nowhere and bam you'll have a settled charge on your account
My 2.3/16/256 ordered June 22 moved to preparing overnight and I just got the shipped email. Unfortunately for me, it missed the FedEx cutoff for the day.
A lot of people (in addition to the retail stores) ordering 2.3s must be keeping them 'on schedule', as opposed to shipping earlier, like the 2.6s seem to be.

July 17th 12:05am: Checked status - still processing
July 17th 6:07am: Checked again - preparing for shipment
July 17th 9:07am: Email from Apple - shipped
FedEx estimated delivery date: Monday, July 23rd. Fingers crossed it might make it by Friday. No charges from Apple yet, will probably hit my account later today. I'd update my status at http://wheresmyappleorder.com/ but I don't use teh facebook

Oic awesome thanks, mine is in london apparently and has cleared customs. It has an estimated time of delivery of 10am tomorrow even though it was scheduled for friday. Don't know if that means i'm getting it tomorrow instead of friday! That would be good.
Just ordered my retina. ($2799) from Abt electronics. They got a shipment in today. And since they are in IL I dont pay tax.
I must have been wrong, because 19 hours later I got an update of "In transit" but saying I was in Japan (...I assume- the location is: NARITA-SHI JP)

I ordered mine with the same configuration on the 26th and its going to NJ and still processing
If I've learned anything from this experience, it's that I'll wait for 6 hours outside an Apple Store than go through this ridiculous wait again. That or order as soon as the online store opens, though I think our June 11th friends would argue that that isnt much better.
It's looking like there are more 2.3's that they have to go through and that's why the later 2.6 orders are going out sooner.
Ours will go out sometime this week.
And Dark Knight Rises comes out on Friday. Gonna be a good week.
Why, thanks for being so positive and happy for me! (sarcasm) As we've all seen on this thread, the order in which these go in sometimes doesn't make any sense. I ordered mine with an Education discount. Did you? Perhaps that makes a difference. Perhaps not. I saw people on here that ordered machines the first week of July ship less than week after they placed their orders. Madness. No method.
