Don't shame on him for spending 750 on apple ram, his boss paid 750 for apple ram. That makes Apple richer and makes our lives better when they have more money to spread around.

:D Nice way of thinking about it! A very intriguing thread though indeed, makes you think that something fishy is around the corner!

Ram

Dang, guess I could have gone with basic and did upgrade myself. Used extra $ to buy software or spare monitor/
Dang.
If I was footing the bill, you can bet I would have done ram upgrade myself.
LOL

Hi Gang!
First time poster.
I finally got around to ordering my Macbook Pro (almost ordered a Dell XPS 1330). Work is covering the lease.
Maxed out the 15.4" MBP and placed order on Jan 22nd. To be delivered by Feb 8th.
Been checking delivery status all week as I wait for my new MBP.
Noticed it didn't ship yesterday like it was supposed to.
Starting checking rumor sites and I found a no buy recommendation, siting it's due for an upgrade.
This morning I get a notice from Apple saying due to unexpected delay we have revised the shipping date as follows. Ship Feb. 26th, Delivery March 8th.
SO now I'm wondering if they are having part shortage, or if they are updating the MBP line and I am waiting for a MBP from the updated line????????
Dang, do I wait or do I cancel and reorder??????
Macsleuth
See if you can call customer service. Maybe they will be able to tell you why the shipment for your MBP has been delayed.

What's weird is that the MBPs still say that they are shipping within 24 hours on Apple's site.

Is it too late to adjust the order for less RAM, so you can get software/spare monitor?

R u guys really serious? will new mbp be released on 26th of Feb?

I hope it would be ealier. My company want to buy a mbp for me now. I need it to work. but I just can't resist the temption of getting the newest mbp. if 26th of Feb, then it would be too late.

Now I'm wondering if I can go a month without a laptop. I was planning on buying after the first week of February, update or no. If updated MBPs will be delivered after the first week of March, I may just wait it out. I still have my four-year-old Windows desktop and I can use the G5 PowerMacs on campus. Speculation is fun! :D

Called Apple

Just called Apple, have to call back Monday morning because it's a small business order.
Will post as soon as I find out on Monday morning.

I am jealous to these posters who's company is buying them a MBP. May I ask is it yours to keep? What if you were to resign after you get the Mac do you get to keep it or is the Mac attached to your job?

There are 2 products I'm waiting for updates on...The Macbook Pro and the ACD's.

I would love the MBP to be updated soon so I can buy one and now and then wait for the ACD's.

Well they wouldn't want to post "shipping in 5 weeks" on the site. Then everyone would know that something is up and no one would want to order :)

Get to keep it

I get to keep it. If I was too quick, i would work it out with them.
I was looking at getting a Dell, at my companies request, then it turned to my favour and I got to order an Apple.
I'll probably run MS XP Pro or Vista Ultimate on it as well, that's why I got the larger drive rather than the fastest drive.
I'm hoping the long delay indicates an update to the MBP line.Although, I can't see anyone at Apple's CS confirming that, till I see it on their site.
Would'd be the first time they announce a product that didn't deliver for a couple/few weeks.
Ok, getting my hopes up.........
Will have to wait a month or so to find out though.....
Gary

February 5th sounds completely reasonable for a new announcement but then 3 weeks until it ships?

I'll put my money on a Feb. 12th announcement.
