i don't know if i like it... i'll have to see it in person/ a picture that isn't blurry. Maybe apple got rid of the mouse button because you can tap -- now that i think of it i normally don't click the button; i tap on the track pad. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

If this is real, count me in for 1.

I dont care about the MacBook, Only the MBP. I dont care about FW400, as long as their is a FW800 to 400 Adaptor that is provided by Apple.

Glossy = way better than Matte. Looks alot more vibrant!

Im ready to shell out $$$ for this as long as the specs are good.

Good Job :apple: if this is true!

2x!

Faking EXIF data is not that hard. All that would require is a few other iPhone photos to know what the EXIF data from an iPhone shot looks like, and Google Earth for some substitute GPS coordinates.

I guess that could be true. If users thought to check the location data, surely a supposed photoshopper could think to fake that portion of the data.

This thing looks ugly.
This just isn't Apple's style. Why would they put that ugly black keyboard on the nice silver case? It looks awful.
Anyway, the same source that sent in the photos also claims that the Macbook and the 17" Macbook Pro aren't going to be updated. I find it hard to believe that they will change the form factor on only two of the models.
Plus, if this person has the laptop in his possession as he claims, then there is no reason for these photos to be blurry and than to make them look more "spy " like and to cover his photoshop job.
It's fake. Or at least I hope.

You obviously have no need for remotely accurate colour. The glossy displays are trash for people who want things to look correct, not shiny.

That is not true. The glossy displays are identical to the matte displays. The only difference is the matte coating that smears reflected light on the matte displays.

You can calibrate both just fine. I have done it with instrument calibrators and both look great.

You are just spreading more misinformation which probably stems from people trying to calibrate really cheap low res glossy displays and comparing that to calibrating the high end led backlit MBP displays. If you have a MBP led backlit glossy display it is easy to calibrate.

I am a big fan of no buttons. I bet this is going to be one of those "personal preference threads."

If I am understanding you correctly, you are not a fan of physical buttons as virtual buttons on a screen if more acceptable.

Not sure what you will do when the battery drains faster, as we have seen with the 3G iPods.

You guys seriously don't "see what they did there"?

Sorry for the editing, temporary brain fart on how to do BBcode

Not sure if anyone noticed this, but the bottom picture is a MacBook Pro.
The top is NOT because it is lacking a Firewire 800 port on the side, as the top one does have one.
So the "mystery port" cannot be a Expresscard Slot.

Jobs said it best: I suggest you calm down.

First off, I can't believe that the lack of a FireWire 400 port causes so much griping and wringing of hands. As others have already posted, there is a cable solution that is readily available. Monoprice.com is your friend folks. For a measly $6.75 plus shipping you can get a six foot long, 9 pin-6 pin cable. If people who plunk down $2k+ for a new machine think a seven dollar cable is a deal breaker, then I gotta say you have some issues but this kind of scenario has already been seen on this forum in the years I lurked here.

Glossy screen. I honestly have no pick in that fight because I can live with either. I do like the glossy better in one way; it's easier to clean when the Smudgy Finger Bastards start poking my screen while looking over my shoulder. I like the look of the display in that it does echo the iPhone. I'd like to know if there is dead space behind that black band around the display though or if it's more of a mask for display panel fasteners or what not. I'm guessing that is the case if there is a camera still in the same place as the current machines. Probably a proximity sensor as well that puts the machine to sleep when you close the lid.

Lack of buttons? I think this will be the case. In fact it might be a precursor of a solution to the much lamented lack of a cut and paste on the iPhone. It's hard to tell what the Apple gang has come up with when it comes to highlighting text without a button to do a click-drag maneuver. If this is true I'm willing to bet it will be pretty darn intuitive.

All this might have already been said but after reading four pages of I just gave up and decided to hammer out my two bits and let it rest until the event later on today. I've learned to not underestimate Apple when it comes to innovation. I don't think they will let us down.

How can it be that the left side is blurry while the right side is sharp? It doesn't seem to be a focus issue (the two sides are too similar in distance from the spy-cam), but how can it be motion related, i.e. how can the photographer have moved faster with respect to the left side than the right side of the MBP?

Just wondering...

I agree. It's a nice design, but its at least an 85%+ fake.

PS: No firewire is a dealbreaker. Looks like I'll be getting something running Vista for 'pro' work.
I don't understand your thought process. So you HAVE to have the latest computer, be it mac or PC? Like, you can't live with the last generation MBP? I don't know about most of you, but I don't switch OSes willy-nilly. I use a Mac for the OS, I can't go to Windows, the hardware isn't even in the equation.

Blech, not liking that at all. But let's see what Tuesday brings, maybe better photos and more technical details might get me more excited.

too much reflection on the top case considering it's pure aluminum. Don't think they put protection film on a ready to sell machine.

But if it is fake, it would be a good PS job.

I don't understand your point?

The top picture directly correlates with the bottom. It shows how the person who has forged together this second picture for engadget has basically just flipped the image around, smudged out the large card slot hole and taped over portion.

There's a FireWire 800 port in both photos.

The Magsafe is a bit vague/poor on the forged engadget image, because it was out of shot on the bottom photo that was used in construction of the forgery!

I work in an apple store buddy and let me tell ya.....we sell waaaaayyyyyy more matte screens than glossy...

I'm sure, everyone I know has a matte finish.
Question then, why in the world did Apple abolish matte on the iMacs?!? I had never heard of ANYONE ordering a glossy iMac before that, everyone got matte on those as well. My model is the last one before this change & soooo glad I got it. :D

Yes, it LOOKS fantastic, but it's impractical if you actually purchase the MacBookPro because you actually intend to use it.

So yes, the design itself is fine, but taking away the trackpad button is impractical. Lots of people turn off the double-tap feature on laptops and prefer the trackpad button.

Oh, and there's the issue with the glossy screen. If this was a consumer-oriented machine to allow people to watch movies, then fine. However, some people need to look at the screen and do work. How the heck are we supposed to do that with the severely glossy screen?

The screen is a big enough issue that I was planning on selling my MacBook to get a matte screen MBP.

I've never had to use the trackpad buttons on a laptop if there was a double-tap function available. You can double-tap faster than you can double-click.

With glossy screen, I don't see how that's going to stop you from doing your work unless you have constant reflection ALL the time, which I highly doubt. Even if you do have reflection, I'm sure it will go away by changing the angle of the screen a tad. When I had the MBA, the glossy screen was the last of my worries.

A new photo showing a fully assembled next-generation 15-inch MacBook Pro with a black display bezel has surfaced, which AppleInsider can confirm is legitimate.

Well, if AI can confirm it, then that's it folks.
