Well, if it's real or fake, I'm sure that the real thing will look unimpressive in photos and awesome in person, as usual.

One thing I don't get is why everyone is so sure there are no ports on the right side of the computer. Even if the optical drive is now there, there's still plenty of room for ports.

Edit: Oh, I just saw the earlier spy photo, now I know why people think there are no ports on the right side!

Back from the dead:

Powerbook15.jpg

I knew I kept my old TiBook around for a reason! Now I'll once again look as though I have the latest thing! :D
ugh, look at that hideous trackpad, who still uses buttons these days?.....

;)

Overall I really like the design. Its slick looking and very much inline with where Apple wants their design style to go.

As a person who purchases MacBook Pro's for the "Pro" the idea of a glossy only option worries me. I hate to be on set for a production shoot with thousands of watts of lights in the room and my screen glaring like in the photo. Lets hope for a matte option.

Oh and the losing of FW400 upsets me. I use mine everyday. No mouse button. I can dig that, but like someone mentioned. How do you highlight? I'd assume Apple has some software to make that work out fine.

It sure as heck better not only come in glossy! If so, I think I'll be going with one of the older ones. I'll also miss FW400 if it is truly gone, as it appears it is. Besides that, it's alright. Not awesome... but alright.

Amazing how every image that appear to depict something not released yet is fuzzy. Additionally, if this is a MBP, why are the ports different than the ones in the high quality pictures shown previously.

Note the missing hole and taped-out port at the front of the computer on the alleged new MBP. Ironic huh?

The ports are identical, but whoever made this second engadget photo was clever enough to blend out the card slot/taped section in Photoshop (rather poorly I might add) and make a half-arsed attempt at drawing in a magsafe connecter.

The first engadget image IS convincing. The second is an obvious fake.

macsoda

macsoda.com is reporting that they are fake, and from what i have seen i believe it too. It is just another loser with too much time on his hands to make this garbage, and photograph it using a blurry camera, nice overhang on the edges ,not too mention clearly visible photoshoped parts.

Not sure if anyone noticed this, but the bottom picture is a MacBook Pro.
The top is NOT because it is lacking a Firewire 800 port on the side, as the top one does have one.
So the "mystery port" cannot be a Expresscard Slot.

c'mon man think....

All the ports are exactly the same in both pictures. They are both the macbook pro. You just can't see the magsafe adaptor in the lower pic. duohi.

Just to chime in on the Glossy vs. Matte screen debate, I have noticed that I get quite a headache when using the new iMacs or laptops with glossy-coated displays longer than 20 minutes or so.

Anyone else have this issue?

I, like many others here, desperately hope for a matte-finish display option. If not, there is always the costly antiglare screen film option = http://store.apple.com/us/product/TR412LL/A?mco=MTIxODk3Mw

"Ironic" is definitely not the correct word. If you notice, there is a circular metallic 'plug' where that mysterious hole is.

I also wasn't convinced that what was "covered up" was anything.

I think the first pic is real, the reflection on the keyboard area looks very authentic.

The left edge looks blurry cause of the slow camera shutter I think.

I think it looks cool, love the black border as it is on the iMac too

lol that guy doesn't know what to make of it. Either do a lot of us.

Also look at the left side of the keyboard compared to the right (the spacing between keys) and the fact that you can see the power cable through the bezel at the lower left.

Ahhh, didn't notice that before. So unless they're using translucent aluminum casing I'd say that about sums it up. F is for Fake!

Anyone remember this?
Deutsche Telekom/T-Mobile Leak

Aside from the OD in the front we've got a PERFECT MATCH. That mockup was allegedly done by a poster on this forum and the company put it up there by 'accident.' So did Apple rip off our forum member? Did he just get lucky? Is this latest photo leak a fake? If its real then our poster should get royalty cheques.

EXIF data....

Hey, lets go looking for them.

It never occurred to me how this sort of stuff will effect spy photos. What's that? A pre-announcement product leak? Fire up Google Earth and lets see what Apple Store has people leaking photos employed.

Edit: Halfway between Cupertino and Santa Clara, CA.

Woa, that first image looks fantastic!

The glossy glass screen would be fantastic - I have an iMac and, having come from several Mac laptops, the glass fronted screen is fantastic.

Combine that with the possibility of an eSATA connection discussed in earlier threads and that would be a real nice refresh.

No matter how "convincing" they appear, they are in fact, FAKE! Nice attempt though. Its up to 350 posts already.

I said this early on in the posts, but I'll say it again since I keep seeing people freak-out about "no trackpad button". If you actually look at the picture, there is obviously a trackpad button the exact same size as the MacBook Air's.
And every one of the reasons being posted why this is "fake" and "obviously photoshopped", are complete BS. The bezel looks the way it does on the left side due to motion artifact.

lol that guy doesn't know what to make of it. Either do a lot of us. Besides ARN that is.

I know what to make of them.

First one was convincing, but the second is such an obvious fake! I supposed it's possible the second one was from a different, unreliable source, but it's just such a bad fake that I can't help but feel the first one might be too.

It looks alright, but remember that the iMac is NOT a "pro" level machine (whatever that means). If anything, this leak is what the Macbook should look like. having the MB and iMac look similar would make sense.

Maybe. It does look like the mystery port and card slot were blurred out. I still have hope for my dock!

Appleinsider is also reporting that the $899 price tag might be held by some type of a display. Maybe it!

I think the second one is the computer with those 2 parts covered up and something thrown on the top case to through us off. Why, i havnt a clue
Dock? Do I want that thing bad enough yet? And I thought about it being that way to throw us off, but why would someone (not Apple) mess with our heads like that?

It's not REALLY thicker on the left side...it just looks that way because it is blurry.
You can tell if you look at the entire picture, the right side is fairly clean looking, and the left side is all blurry. That's not just the laptop...that's everything in the picture. He must have just moved the camera while taking the shot

Then why does it cascade evenly across the top from side to side? Looks more to me like he did a sloppy job of inserting the iMac-esque screen. I don't buy the blurriness theory when you look along the top....look at the edge of the glass, it just screams Photoshop.
