First off, I can't believe that the lack of a FireWire 400 port causes so much griping and wringing of hands. As others have already posted, there is a cable solution that is readily available. Monoprice.com is your friend folks. For a measly $6.75 plus shipping you can get a six foot long, 9 pin-6 pin cable. If people who plunk down $2k+ for a new machine think a seven dollar cable is a deal breaker, then I gotta say you have some issues but this kind of scenario has already been seen on this forum in the years I lurked here.
Glossy screen. I honestly have no pick in that fight because I can live with either. I do like the glossy better in one way; it's easier to clean when the Smudgy Finger Bastards start poking my screen while looking over my shoulder. I like the look of the display in that it does echo the iPhone. I'd like to know if there is dead space behind that black band around the display though or if it's more of a mask for display panel fasteners or what not. I'm guessing that is the case if there is a camera still in the same place as the current machines. Probably a proximity sensor as well that puts the machine to sleep when you close the lid.
Lack of buttons? I think this will be the case. In fact it might be a precursor of a solution to the much lamented lack of a cut and paste on the iPhone. It's hard to tell what the Apple gang has come up with when it comes to highlighting text without a button to do a click-drag maneuver. If this is true I'm willing to bet it will be pretty darn intuitive.
All this might have already been said but after reading four pages of I just gave up and decided to hammer out my two bits and let it rest until the event later on today. I've learned to not underestimate Apple when it comes to innovation. I don't think they will let us down.
