Multiple sites don't know anything. They all just echo each other. Just cause more people say it doesn't make it true.

its also true that other sites like to call them out as fakes so that one is right and more trustworthy in the end. Fake or not Im still just hoping for something more interesting than this image, because I think this is what everyone has pictured in their mind since update was mentioned. Bezel and keyboard like air, gloss (maybe even glass) black screen like imac, bigger trackpad. oh ya:rolleyes:

I can handle a glossy screen but no mouse button? Jeez... I wanted them to ADD another button not REMOVE it!

How am I supposed to click and drag? And Apple better not give me some type of multi-fingered gesture thing. It's NOT the freaking same!

I thought this was a pro model... Hell, I was waiting for some type of major innovation but this is for sure a step to before the mouse even EXISTED.

How are you suppose to click and drag??? Well, start tap and drag! I seriously don't know what the big deal is you people are fussing about. Why do you oppose these existing features/gestures that have been available for years?

Clickable as in will depress slightly? (id like that if it was smooth) or as in its just a touchpad that you click on

That's what I'm thinking.

I'd LOVE to see that happen. I need my mouse button, and whenever I use a laptop with tap-to-click I click and drag random crap and mess everything up. To make the trackpad have a physical 'click' depress action when pushed would unify the two options and make everyone happy.

im not sure what to think about the image, it looks decent.

They better update the regular macbook tomorrow too.

it's definitely possible that the entire trackpad serves as the button. note that the top case pictures that has been leaked has shown the case without the trackpad. Normally, the trackpad comes as a single unit with the topcase itself. Apple is usually pretty creative with this kind of things (for ex, mightymouse with two invisible buttons) so that wouldn't surprise me one bit. it's even possible that different areas you click will have different effects simulating left and right click?

First off, I can't believe that the lack of a FireWire 400 port causes so much griping and wringing of hands. As others have already posted, there is a cable solution that is readily available. Monoprice.com is your friend folks. For a measly $6.75 plus shipping you can get a six foot long, 9 pin-6 pin cable. If people who plunk down $2k+ for a new machine think a seven dollar cable is a deal breaker, then I gotta say you have some issues but this kind of scenario has already been seen on this forum in the years I lurked here.

Glossy screen. I honestly have no pick in that fight because I can live with either. I do like the glossy better in one way; it's easier to clean when the Smudgy Finger Bastards start poking my screen while looking over my shoulder. I like the look of the display in that it does echo the iPhone. I'd like to know if there is dead space behind that black band around the display though or if it's more of a mask for display panel fasteners or what not. I'm guessing that is the case if there is a camera still in the same place as the current machines. Probably a proximity sensor as well that puts the machine to sleep when you close the lid.

Lack of buttons? I think this will be the case. In fact it might be a precursor of a solution to the much lamented lack of a cut and paste on the iPhone. It's hard to tell what the Apple gang has come up with when it comes to highlighting text without a button to do a click-drag maneuver. If this is true I'm willing to bet it will be pretty darn intuitive.

All this might have already been said but after reading four pages of I just gave up and decided to hammer out my two bits and let it rest until the event later on today. I've learned to not underestimate Apple when it comes to innovation. I don't think they will let us down.

First of all, some of us in audio need TWO FireWire ports. The 400 & 800 suit us just fine....if Apple went to 2 800 ports & people were complaining I'd see your point. If they go to just ONE FW port then we have a legitimate gripe. Others are concerned that the MB will have NO firewire port. How will your $5 adapter help them in that case?

All I want is the option of matte vs glossy. Just because one FAKE photo of a glossy laptop surfaces that doesn't mean Apple has gotten rid of the matte option. We'll see tomorrow.

Regardless of the MBP pics, I'm really concerned about this "Apple will only be updating the 15" MacBook Pro" thing. Would they seriously host a notebook event without updating the MacBooks, too? The wait has already been so long, and I think I will explode if this event comes and goes with no new MacBooks. That would almost be like deliberate torture.

omg, i hope you are right. that would be genius!!!

wow... unless what's under the hood is amazing, i'm glad i just got a replacement MBP of the current model. i'm not impressed with the look. maybe it will look better in person, but i like the aluminum bezel and silver keys on what i have now.

i'm a graphic/web designer... and i actually really like the glossy screen, but i do think there should be an option. i plug my MBP into a 23" ACD, so I get the best of both worlds: glossy and matte. it's nice to have glossy to see what most people with newer laptops see when they look at my websites (well, closer anyway), and a big matte screen for color accurate work.

if the new ACD's are glossy, then i'll have a problem!

LOL. These pictures crack me up. The first picture is selectively blurred, i.e. a fake, and the second picture is a composite. Notice how the screen doesn't fit against the bottom part? It's a MacBook Air screen Photoshopped against a standard MacBook Pro with the ports Photoshopped onto the left side.

Of course, tomorrow might prove me wrong in terms of what comes out, but those pictures SCREAM fake to me.

when is apple going to stop forcing these god awful glossy displays on us?
it's clear from reading the comments in the thread that people hate them!

You all know that you can already use the trackpad to single and double click in the mouse preferences right? I think it's a great move to remove the physical button and add more trackpad space for multitouch.

They call that a *pro* machine??? You've gotta be kidding. If Steve Jobs thinks this will fly in the pro market, there is absolutely *no* way. Glossy screen ≠ pro-worthy. Besides that, the tapered edges look icky, and the lack of a true DVI or HDMI port would be a major pain for most... those stupid dongles are quite annoying.

Agreed, this better be a joke, if not Apple is going to lose the pro's.I think the writings on the wall Apple wants to be the wal-mart of technology.

So how much more is my current gen gonna be worth after tomorrow? :D But seriously Im relieved, Ebay has been constantly on my mind up until these pics came out lol

what i meant is actual physical clicks, not tap clicks.

if Apple doesn't release a new MacBook at a MacBook event, then why have an event...
