The photo is fake - please review the post. Too many conflicts to be real.

I think this is the real deal. If you look at the "conflicts" they don't match up with what you see in the photo at all.

Also everyone is talking about the trackpad not having buttons. This is not the first computer to have touch sensitive areas verses having physical buttons. You may just be able to tap the bottom left to act like a left click, the bottom right or the two finger tap to right click.

This is likely a case of facts being mixed up, just like what happens in the children's game "telephone." The more and more people that try to repeat the facts, the more mixed up they seem to get.

What they likely mean is that the MacBook might not be available right away, whereas the 15" MacBook Pro's will. The MacBook will almost certainly still be announced tomorrow. Remember, the spotlight turns to notebook"s".. It would be highly unusual if the updated 15" MacBook Pro was the only new notebook being announced.

Yeah, that has no basis. Apple are not going to start selling an entirely new Pro and have an old one still in the store. That's ridiculous -_-

If the pricing rumour is correct, then they're refreshing all of them.

Back from the dead:

Powerbook15.jpg

I knew I kept my old TiBook around for a reason! Now I'll once again look as though I have the latest thing! :D

LOL!

You cannot deny the difference in the bevels

You cannot deny the difference in the photo on macrumors of the frame only - pictured on its side showing the ports... and the picture of the closed complete unit from today - shown on engadget. The port sizes and position do not match - not even close.

Proof is in the apple pudding

2 weeks ago, I bought the 2.6Ghz Macbook Pro and maxed out every option and added Applecare.

Why you ask?

Because I was wholeheartedly afraid that the new macbook pro would be hideous, have problems and be a totally new design. If the speed isn't much difference and this is what the new MBP will look like, then I'll be sticking with my maxed out MBP.

just a guess but... I'm guess apple made a fake one just to throw us off. If this is real, im so happy i got mine over the summer

seems fake

seems fake...

seems extra blurry in important areas...

2 slots seem to be missing on the left that appeared in previous casing leaks that were apparently "legit"

if the chart claims a $1599 macbook... i would say it would be a 15" macbook... not a macbook pro

it uses the ideas of the imac... the imac is the macbook of desktops... not a pro machine

but if this is a pro... its bad news...

but i have a feeling its a 15" macbook.. lets cross our fingers

Well, all this does is convince me that I'll need to actually play with the new MBP before I buy it or decide to buy the current (well, for the next few hours) MBP. If they take away the matte option, have the buy the current model (eye strain), and I'll be super pi**ed. That is all. I'm going to sleep. Still can't wait! ;)

i have and theres just as many conflicts as to why it could be real.
im not saying i want it to be, it looks weird and 'unapple' like, as in to out of proportion

its just an idea that could solve the whole "How do you turn it on?" problem

Trouble Ahead

If that's a legit photo then i can't see how matt would be an option. Clearly the glossy glass covers the black border.

If there was a matt screen option then there would be nothing to keep the screen flush with the black borders?? And the matt and gloss option would need 2 different screen cases to adjust the housing for the glass bezel on the glossy model so there was no lip on the matt model.

It's either a fake, or matt option is gone in my opinion.

WTF why the macbooks are not being updated tomorrow =( it was just what I was waiting for, besides the new glossy display sucks i really hate em´ . Hope the new macbook dont have one of those.

Look at the differences...
Also no power button on the right next to the screen?

THANK YOU!!!!

THIS IS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT

The newer pic of the close macbook looks like the fake out of the 2, if I had to pic.

the port size on the newer pic of the closed macbook is too small - looks like you could fit 20 ports on the side of that unit...

that. looks. sick.

...but no buttons on the trackpad? :S
im sure they've figured something out ;)

i Believe that the photo is pretty real. It looks to me like someone photoshopped the express slot and other mysterious ports from the picture for some odd reason. Otherwise, the rest of the ports on the new picture match up to the ports on the casing picture.

turn the trackpad into a iTouch screen

It appears we are looking at a bigger glass trackpad/mousepad that is the size of a iTouch screen .... hmmmmmm

Just throw a LED screen under it ... put the guts of a itouch as the trackpad, imagine what that could introduce. Your MacBook would have two screens, one as a display and one as a interactive button/track area..... each application could utilize it. Sort of like the dual screens on a DS.

Bevel means nothing. Apple is not trying to feed the rumour-leeches... why would they insist on using a legitimate photo for the invite?

The model for the bezel-only is not confirmed... and it looks like there's tape around the side of the image.

Wow.

Are you looking at the same picture. While the port styles and # of each style may match - look at the proportion of the units.

waaaaay different.

How can you not see that?

POINT 1: Look at the bevel on the edge of the lid on the official Apple invitation, and now look at the bevel of the lid in the "closed MBP" photo. These two bevels are completely different.

POINT 2: Look at the ports shown on the "closed MBP" photo. See the distance from the port closest to the front of the machine and the front of the machine.... It is too much space - looks disproportional.

POINT 3: Again with this photo - compare the ports to the photos shown on macrumors.com of just the aluminum frame... There is a picture of the frame on its side... showing the ports. Compare the layout and position and size relativity vs the picture of the "Closed MBP" from today shown on engadget.

1. the invitation could be the MacBook. These pictures are MBP's

2. These pictures could be two laptops: a 15" MBP and a 17" MBP. Look at the ports, they are so small in the side looking picture that I think the closed laptop picture is a 17"

3. see point 2.

This is real. Who would have any benefit, and time to produce such a fake? This would be pro photoshop work, and I challenge everyone on this forum who has good photoshop skills to produce a mockup of the same quality.

This is the real deal.

it seems that Apple pursuit for iphone, macbook air, imac design for combination. that's why I can see the bezel on macbook pro looks like iphone. I like it. actually when we will see it in wild, we will love it. as you know, Apple product is awesome in reality.

Sadly, I have probably read every post in this thread. I need to go to bed. I feel like a kid on christmas; i have been waiting and saving for this for too long. Please dont screw me over jobs. it better be worth the thousands of dollars im going to cough up for you...
