I think they look good. For months, or even years, people here have been saying that the MBP design is too long in the tooth, boring, old, not changed for six years blah, blah. Then, when Apple apparently change the design everyone says it's fugly! It's a laptop, for heavens sake - there's only so much you can do with it.

However, I do agree the bezel should be thinner, especially these days (I had a Fujitsu six years ago with a bezel less than half as thick as the one on my MBP) - I think just that one change would make the whole line look sleeker and more modern straight away. I'd be happy with smaller speakers and a slightly smaller wrist rest to make it happen, too, or even better, a higher res screen!

Definitely no mouse or power button and it's motion blurred in only selective sections...

Nobody has pointed out that the screen is the OS X welcome screen that is done in a number of languages.

I would buy that in a second

another thing is people, quit complaining, your all acting like this is the real deal. So what if apple insider confirmed this is real? Is it real or is it real?

none of us knows for sure, untill we hear from steve we cant be sure.

I'm sure there will be a BTO or even a pre-bulit model with a matte display.

Now I wouldnt be surprised if they turn up looking like this:

I agree. It needs some sort or refresh, and this is it.

I notice the bezzel is BEHIND the glass screen. if so, thats a good move. keeping everything clean.

If i spray paint the bezel of my dad's £300 Dell 1501 black, it would look bloody similar to that iMonstrosity.

The way Apple has been at the moment, what with the App Store rejections, screwy (for me) iPhone firmware and it's new style, im seriously considering ordering that Vaio FW I've had my eye on.

Real HDMI port, Blu-ray, nice big MATTE screen, MOUSE BUTTONS!!! And Debian is just a LiveCD away.

end of rant.

I do hope this is fake and after seeing what the AIR looked like I scooped up a MBP with the quickness back in August. Unfortunate thing is this will sell even if it is real because Steve will say it's good, ultra delicious...and most importantly "The funnest MBP ever".

Now I understand why Jobs insists on keynotes and trying to keep things quiet...

Everyone is bitching and moaning about how ugly it is, but as soon as he unveils it tomorrow everyone will simultaneously ejaculate and squeal about how awesome and pretty it is.

Same thing happened with the 4G Nano

Noooooooooooooo! gotta be matte

If the shot is actually a glossy screen as it appears and not a matte screen showing a photo of ceiling tiles then it's been a long wait to get my first Mac in 16 years for nothing.

I know some don't care and don't understand the difference but I thought Apple were not one of them.

Suger Plums - I'm tired

they're fake. Now wipe off your keyboards, or iPhones (like in my case) and go to bed. Santa Jobs will bring us all what we want in the morning.

Good night kids!

Forgetting Sarah Marshell rocks

if those pictures are the the new MBP, I am getting the older model :(

I am afraid that apple is making its final steps becoming into luxury-toy company.

I think I'll go and boot up my old trustworthy Quadra 900 and remember the good old days.

Why must everything be so thin? I rather have a slightly thicker laptop for PERFORMANCE. then just looks and "wow" factor. The air sure hasnt turned heads and made an impression.

I dont know if its been mentoned but anyone noticed the second pic the box shows diferent colors. Reminds me of the old imac ads from 1998.

Do mine eyes deceive me?! Is it... thicker at last?! Praise the Lord Jebus Christ should this be so...

All aboard the hype train! Last stop complete disappointment! *9700M GT* *9700M GT* *9700M GT* *9700M GT* *9700M GT*..

I am sorry to say so, but I really hate clicking by tapping. On my old laptop, I keep clicking while I just accidentally drop my hand on the trachpad or so. Very annoying...

Are you serious? A thicker MBP for the first time ever! Yay for good dedicated graphics at last!

What a 1000th post! ;)

EDIT: Night to all.

I feel a need to reply being that i've actually read all 24 pages...

The button issue certainly is a preference thing. Though my prefence is that I like the gigantic button on my MBP... I don't even like the small button on the MBA. I like to give it a big thwack with my thumb. But I appear to be in the minority, and left out of either solution.

That said... The person mentioning audio work had a great point. I know I can get a cable from FW400 to 800. But then I lose my 800 port. What if I have a 400 drive and an 800 port. Or a piece of gear that's 400 but won't pass 800. Having one of each isn't too unreasonable.

All in all, I actually love the current design and don't know what could be done to make it better. In my opinion neither does Apple...

Although I am not even close to be a professional of photography, I do work with images. I am surprised that with so many professionals here, people are still discussing this pictures. Something I learned very fast is that ou can not get information from a picture that is not in the picture. You can zoom in as much as you want or do any treatments, but resolution is resolution and quality is quality.
Obviously, this pictures were taken with a cell phone with a really bad camera (an iPhone, maybe:p) and the guy was afraid of getting caught and nervous and his hands were all shaky. If you look closer, there is something different in the top right corner that MAY BE the on/off button. But you have to understand that it is probably the same color than the surrounding aluminum and the picture is really bad. The same applies to the trackpad. Conclusion: we don't know if there is a trackpad or a power button from this picture, but I don't see anything that makes me think it is fake.
Changing subject, assuming this is real, I don't really see how to make a matte screen out of this panel. The glass seems to cover even the bezel, like in iMac. Can you make it all matte? Can you leave the glass in the bezel but make it matte in the display proper?
