To those who say that they won't buy a MBP if it's only offered in glossy:

Did you know that you can buy self-adhesive screen protectors with a matte finish that could fix your problem for a few bucks?

did you know that that is a cheap, shoddy solution to something that an end user shouldn't have to do in the first place?

Exactly. My last 5 laptops had clickable trackpads, all disabled in preferences. I actually wouldn't mind it being implemented correctly, but in my history, they are just a not so minor annoyance. Even now with my Penryn MBP with Multitouch, still no tap to click. It will be interesting to see how I feel tomorrow, I usually have to have the lastest, but if they do end up looking like this, I will definitely have to spend some time with one before upgrading. But I guess Apple cannot innovate by adding more buttons, so elimation is innovation. We will find out shortly.

I most definetely will not buy it before knowing how the clicking goes.

If that is the Macbook Pro, I am going to be even more happy with my latest generation 15" Macbook Pro I just bought a few weeks ago.

Since my MBP is not my primary machine, (my Mac Pro is my workhorse) I get to be a lot more picky with it. I hate the black keys on the silver body. I absolutely love the silver backlit keys on my Macbook Pro. Superficial, yes, but I don't care.

And most of all, I hate glossy screens. The beautiful iMacs are useless to me because of the glossy only factor.

If that's the Macbook, I think it's brilliant. If it's the Pro, I think it's a disaster.

where is it in the rules of laptop/notebooks that says the power button has to be on the top? it could very well be located somewhere else.

Sony has theirs on the hindge, and its big and glows green when on and orange and blinks when in sleep...

Look at these pics.

One shows it with boxes in the background and the power adapter showing through the bezel.

The new pic from MacNN ( they say they have a new one ) shows the same pic only its been cropped and placed on a different background or the background was brushed out in order to hide the power adapter flaw.
. you can see where the power adapter cable is cut off on the left.

didn't read through all the QQing here about the glossy screen...but I couldn't find anywhere where it said that it as ONLY available as a glossy screen.

Why does everyone assume that it's only going to be glossy? There's an option now that you can choose, why would we think differently now that Apple is going to take that away?

I don't get you people sometimes. You cry and complain about every design change. Now, when they change the design again in 2 or 3 years everyone is going to be crying then also and saying how great these will be compared to the new ones.

Come on...

Anyone agree with Gruber that they may be phasing out the 17"?

These all look like consumer laptops. It's a shame if this is the end for the Pro laptops.

man, it looks like that previous 'round up' that arn did earlier meant absolutely NOTHING

LOL

This is just a hunch, but I am guessing that if there is no macbook refresh (which I doubt) and the 17" is not refreshed either (which I could really care less about) does anyone think we could see a 13 inch MBP without a speaker grille and FW, but still have the higher end graphics in it? Guess we will know in a few hours!

and discostu668.... its the light reflecting on the screen not a screensaver. and they are not scratched lol

screensaver or not, it is *not* the nameplate reflected in the screen as the person was trying to argue.

did i say something was scratched?

shhhh steve jobs is watching this forum...

thats why he looks messed up during they keynotes. He stays up all night reading the "pre hash" and then responds in his keynotes by "as always we offer an option...." etc

Ordering a MBP with a matte screen may delay the shipping :p

Very interesting analysis.
Let's hope this one's a fake then.

Only a few more hours to go.

I see a lot of people are still a little confused about the trackpad.

Supposedly (according to a source on daringfireball) the trackpad *is* made of glass, or has a glass layer of some kind, and the entire thing is a button itself. You can push it down and it will 'click', so it isn't just a standard tap the trackpad to click.

Also part numbers aside... with the new aluminum MacBook including an *actual* GPU... what's saying this isn't a new compact MacBook Pro?... I know the part numbers don't match up, but this is shaping up to be a suitable replacement for my 12" PowerBook =)

The new shot looks more convincing.

They keyboard is still a bit wrong, but the bezel looks more even.

Have to wait and see.

first of all, the event notice even says that the focus/spotlight would be on notebooks.

secondly, NO 13" MBP.

thirdly, ALL MBs and MBPs are being refreshed.

PC anyone ?

This looks really ugly, but maybe I buy it because of the missing firewire 400 and s-video plugs.

Engadget posts two photos of what appears to be the new MacBook Pro. The new Macbook Pro has a black bezel similar to the iMac. Also, of note is that there are no mouse buttons on the MacBook Pro trackpad.

There are said to be two NVIDIA GPUs inside, indicating both integrated and discrete graphics chipsets.
