MacBook Pro Photo, No Physical Trackpad Buttons

Wrong!

If you look close, there is obviously a trackpad button, it's the same size as the MacbookAir's. And, there is obviously a power button on the upper right. Does anyone else not notice the small silver bezel around the black screen... EXACTLY like the iPhone's?

i hope you guys see the film thats actually protecting the screen thats hanging off the top, this may not be glossy, and im positive apple will have both a matte and glossy option on the pro

wow i'm surprised you people don't like it. i think it looks fantastic, much nicer than plain-looking aluminum. at least i won't have worry about these things selling out woohoo

Yes, it LOOKS fantastic, but it's impractical if you actually purchase the MacBookPro because you actually intend to use it.

So yes, the design itself is fine, but taking away the trackpad button is impractical. Lots of people turn off the double-tap feature on laptops and prefer the trackpad button.

Oh, and there's the issue with the glossy screen. If this was a consumer-oriented machine to allow people to watch movies, then fine. However, some people need to look at the screen and do work. How the heck are we supposed to do that with the severely glossy screen?

The screen is a big enough issue that I was planning on selling my MacBook to get a matte screen MBP.

Oh no.....I hope this is not real. I think it is weird looking. Makes me feel good about my recent MBA purchase. Looks like I will be picking up the last MBP as well. I guess I will have to see it in person. We will see what happens tomm.

The screen looks like it's modeled after being a giant iPhone/iPod-Touch.

And, it BETTER have a trackpad button... I hate "tap to click" on a trackpad. Random stray thumb taps on the trackpad, while I'm typing, were always a problem on my PowerBook Titanium. And I haven't ever used a trackpad that didn't have a similar problem.

If I don't have option of turning it off, then I simply wont buy the product.

Update 2: Our source just hit us again to say that it's two full-on NVIDIA GPUs -- wild. Wilder still, they say the MacBook and 17-inch MacBook Pro aren't getting refreshed tomorrow, which we find hard to believe, but we'll see when we see.

Whhaaaa?

One thing that looks VERY fake.

On the left edge of the screen there's a glass border (you can see the magsafe wire through it), but on the right, its a normal aluminum frame edge. Also, across the top is the same thing, totally inconsistant framing.

<Senator Vreenak Voice> It's a faaaaake!!!

Really though...

- Unnecessarily blurry, even for a camera phone.
- No apparent click button
- No apparent power button
- Severe 'overbite' on the closed lid photo
- Bad Photoshopping of the card slot and mystery port (as seen in the previously leaked photos)
- Dodgy box (White is normally for MacBooks, but the black handle for MacBook Pros)
- iLife '08 logo on box - There's a possibility of iLife '09 being announced.
- Engadget won't mention their source! Not even 'a trusted source' or 'an anonymous submission'

Any more reasons why it's fake?...

SAY IT: IT'S A FAAAAAAKE!!!

Hope your right.

OMG EPIC FAILURE. It's hideous, no firewire, NO TRACKPAD buttons? are you kidding me?

Overpriced Acer laptop there. NOT a "Pro" laptop.

Thank you Apple for giving up on what made you better than Wintel: professional, superior products. Now you're just appealing to the least common denominator PC crowd. Go back to your ipods and iphones and ipoops and get out of the computer business. Sheesh

The usual apple response.

"It's hideous"

(days pass)

"It's ok"

(weeks pass)

"It's beautiful"

(months pass)

"nothing could be better"

(product update)

"WTF? I'm sticking with the previous version!"

I think the trackpad is floating. Just as the glass screen on the BB Storm clicks when depressed the MB Pro will utilize the same haptic feedback.

Personally, I never used the physical button.

A nice evolution but . . .

1) No Firewire 400 is a giant issue for me if it is lacking. I have far too many firewire 400 cases laying around, cases that travel with me, and USB 2 is far too slow for my needs.

2) Design is nice, but I don't see it as radically more compelling, or even more compelling than my 17" MBP 2.6ghz.

3) The Gloss, I'll weigh in. There should be a matte option; if not, my 2.6ghz MBP just got a lot more valuable.

Guess we'll have to wait and see the specifics.

With a FW 800 --> FW 400 cable, you can simply plug your firewire 400 devices into the fw 800 port. You can get these cables from the Apple Store or from other places online.

the MacBook Pro will have firewire 800. theres a reason it says newbie under your name.

hey guys we don't know the full details of this machine yet. lets just wait until tomorrow.

i have to admit it look to consumer product like that a "pro" product.

Just saw that. TWO GPUs??? That would make my day if they're decent. All I've ever wanted upgraded in the MBPs was the video card... and if they do it, I'll definitely save up and buy one.

...

... Even though that'll definitely take a while :(

Absolutely love the design. Beautiful.

However, no physical trackpad button = bad for gamers. I play wow, I can't imagine looking and clicking with no button.

I play wow in class with no mouse so if these pictures are true, which they look true, then I will hold on to my 2006 first generation MBP a little longer.

Apple now = Form over function. Started with the macbook air and it might just end with this.
