MacBook Pro Specs, LightPeak Known As ThunderBolt?

I'd rather have the name "Light Peak."

Seriously, try to say "Thunder Bolt" with a straight face for the very first time. I dare you.

1280x800 is NOT fine, unless we're talking about a cell phone or a 10" netbook. I'm finally able to replace our old laptops at work, all of which have 1280x800 screens. We got them that way because my boss, who got the first one, didn't want to wait an extra week to get a decent display, so it became the standard. Over the past 3 years, the single biggest complaint I get from everybody is the low resolution of the screen, and the fact that you can't get much work done with that few pixels. When I started rolling out the replacements with 1920x1080 displays, 3 people literally broke into tears.

Tears of joy or eye strain ? :D

Seems to me like a logical progression from "Fire Wire". I really don't see what the big deal is here.

I am usually a skeptic, but this is actually something I can believe.

Especially Apple putting LP/TB into the MiniDisplay port to not only save space, but to eliminate the need for the useless USB port on the side of the ACD.

I just wonder how Apple/Intel will push this TB tech to where it counts . . . the peripheral manufacturers, esp. HDDs and professional video tech that needs the high bandwidth.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Now these pics have been comfirmed as legit by macrumours, all we need is a price and if the white MacBook is discontinued and this is it's replacement. Doubtful but you never know.

I don't understand that nobody is surprised, that if this the low end model, how is it possible that the CPU is an i5?? What does that mean for the other 13 inch MPB model? And what does this mean to the 15 and 17 inch?
And why only such a big improvement to the CPU, compared to the last revision, while the other specifications are not so fascinating?

So just to clarify. This is the low-end 13" MacBook Pro. So the other models will have better specs.

I know you're confident the images/specs are legitimate -- are you as confident that this is the 13" MacBook *Pro* and not just the 13" MacBook? I don't see anything in the images themselves indicating whether or not this is a Pro model.

Either way those "leaked" specs from yesterday are now rendered meaningless...

so the only two pictures we have BOTH coincidently reveal the specs of the same model in different language?

Noone said the source isn't sitting on more. Wouldn't it ruin the fun if they released them all at once? ;)

So, it's likely there will be another 13" model that is $300 dearer.

I wonder what we'll get for the extra 300 bucks?

Increased resolution has got to be on that model.

Possibly a small SSD for the OS?

If the weight is the same, that means there's probably no redesign. If they don't redesign the 13", the 15 and 17 will probably stay the same also.

No bigger trackpad and no higher res screen either. Not too great of an update other than the processor...

This looks photoshopped… the vertical cut is very noticeable on that usb port

Yes, but why would you need to cut there to photoshop it? The side of a current MBP is identical apart from the 'thunderbolt' logo - All you would need to change would be the display port icon.

Edit: And confirmed by the english specs above - 'Thunderbolt port supports high-speed I/O and Mini DisplayPort devices'

this is kinda stupid ... lets say i ever get a external "thunderbolt" hdd and want to watch something over the display port (which is the same slot) on my display ... i'm kinda screwed

I think we're forgetting about all the customization you will be able to do. The stock models usually have the lowest memory, hard drive and processor speeds.

We're also only looking at a 13 inch. The 15 inch models could be absolutely amazing.
