I would really like that the new macbook pro have...
+ An increase in the screen resolution in all models
+ Change the ugly black keyboard for the white keyboards like the iMacs
+ An slot to insert a sim card to have mobile data
+ The new remote control for front row
+ Thiner and lighter unibody
What do you guys think ???
Seriously, i`m an industrial designer, most of the items are logical...
+Increase of resolution (due the change of video cards in most of apple products it´s really logic to think about an increase of resolution at least in the 15 inch model)
+ The keyboard... there is no logical reason to be black, in the past apple has fixed some "mistakes" in their design team, for example the black macbook. If you see the latest iMacs they have the black glossy frame in the screen, but the keyboard is white, you can compare in an apple store, the black and the white keyboards to see if there´s no logic about it. Which one is prettier?
+The simcard slot... well for me that could be useful, but OK maybe it´s only meant to be on pc netbooks...
+Apple remote... The last MBP that i bought, about two years ago had it, and suddenly apple stop including it in the MBP package, maybe that`s one of the reasons that people don't use front row. Its logical to ask for it again...
+Thiner and lighter... It`s well known that the new MBP will bring the new intel processors i5 and i7, every hardware change can make it thinner and lighter, just look the white macbook models when they were updated, it was almost the same, only that the new one was thinner.Thinner and lighter is fine unless it compromises structural integrity or the ability to add functionality.
Obviously i`m not teaching the apple´s design team, just giving my two cents about what things could be useful for me... Besides they are really doable.
Thanks, but I like much, not all, of the design of the current models.
+ Increased resolution: could be very likely with new graphic cards and this would be very nice... why are people saying they would NOT want increased resolution? Idiots...
...
+The remote is out there to purchase... $20 isn't really a big deal considering a $2000 purchase - it was once included, but if it's not who cares?
I don't know why people are getting so fussy about this list... If anything, it's seriously low balling our expectations for the new machine.

+ The keyboard doesn't matter one way or another, but it won't change. The black keys go with the black edging around the screen, white keys would seriously look ugly... if anything they need to be aluminum.
+Possible... but unlikely - Apple will maintain that the iPad is the way to surf the internet on the go.

+I doubt it will be thinner (Look at the current model.. unless they drop the eternet port, it's almost as thin as it can be! That port takes up the whole side...) but lighter is always a possibility - if they change any part of the display (glass) that will immediately affect weight.
1) Have you ever tried to read text or surf the web on a 17" MBP comfortably? The high resolution makes it very difficult. If Apple increases the resolution, they'll have to come up with a way to make reading, menus, and other detailed tasks a plausible concept.
(I would be interested in how you have it set up because I am looking to do the same thing.)
The Mac Pro is much later than the MacBook Pro. Hopefully, they will both be updated SOON. I would expect the Mac Pro to be updated first.
On that note, not even Dell have re-released their revised Latitude series with the i7 processor yet.
I don't understand how a higher resolution would make it hard to read text while surfing the web. MBPs already have a very small resolution compared to everyday computers. I've been using 16:9 for years and have never had a problem reading anything.
1920x1200 in 17" of space is pretty compact. Reading can be done, but you'll probably be leaning forward.
About the keyboard color... if the frame color was the reason, then why the macbook air and the new macbook pro 17inch antiglare screen doesn'n have the black frame?
(I personally like the antiglare screen than the glossy) http://media.bestofmicro.com/Z/G/181420/original/mbp17_unbox07.jpg
You've switched the order of cause and effect that I originally stated. BECAUSE the screen framing is black, the keys must be black. If the screen framing is not black, then the keys may be whatever color (black, white, aluminum or otherwise). In terms of the Macbook Air and MBP17" the keyboard remains black to save money and create similar design asthetics. Its cheaper to have one keyboard that fits four different models (MBA, MBP 13,15,17") This is different than the keyboard / screen situation with the iMac because the keyboard is not enclosed right next to the screen frame.
Take for example the white backbook, BECAUSE the screen framing (and entire computer) is white, the keys must be white... anything else looks ridiculous. My comment is simply to say that to add an uncommon element (white keyboard) does not fit the asthetics like a black keyboard or a aluminum keyboard would.

I've gotta admit... I did NOT think a white keyboard would look that good! Blends nicely with the aluminum.

WHY CAN'T THEY JUST GO BACK TO THE SILVER KEYBOARD? I hate the black keyboard. The Silver keyboard looked looked so much better. It's better when the keyboard color matched the body color. If they were to anodize the aluminum on the MBP's to black, then I'd be all for a black keyboard.I like the black keys. White keys would get dirty too quick
Apologies if this is repetitive, am new to this Forum/thread, but checked the MacBook Pro in-store availability at Best Buy.com for 2 zipcode areas (WA and NYC) and was rather surprised at the results. NYC stores have virtually no in-store stock for any of the MacBooks and MBP's... WA area stores only spotty at best.

No way of knowing how significant this is, but at least one model ( the MBP 2.8 15") and the MBA 2.13 were listed as "Backordered" and not available for " 1 to 2 weeks"
Anyone have any similar MBP unavailability data that might support the "constraints" story , pointing to the possibility of a release in the next two weeks?
FWIW, i think Apple's optimum retail marketing strategy would be to sim-ship and have the new Macs in the Apple Stores on April 3rd, to maximize the advantage of the massive increase in traffic ( the horde of in-store iPad pickup customers) who would then be able to see/touch/ drool - and buy - the refreshed MacBook Pro products.
Hard to imagine Apple missing that "free" ( no incremental cost) opportunity / marketing and retail "halo effect" from the iPad ... so my bet would be sometime between the 30th (if it HAS to be a Tuesday) to the 3rd of April.
this sound crazy ? Anyone agree?
