Not really worth it to be honest...Hope it at least has Robson caching (Turbo Memory).

Yes, I'm still quietly hoping but its already met the bar for me and I'm trying not to experience the disappointment. I'm happy as-is... if its LED backlit, then its a total home-run for me. Even without that, as listed in the AI note its what I was looking for.
I was talking only about the Turbo Memory...Sure gains are minimal, but otherwise all they did was marginally bump the CPU core and a decent FSB and GPU bump. Case, and features for the most part have been same since the first MBP at the start of 06. The CPU is plenty fast no doubt, but some spark of inspiration would be nice.
Someone posted that its 3.2 ounces lighter now (in the comments on the AI article).
Anyone care to speculate how that happened? I realize its not a lot of weight, but it makes me wonder if there isn't something other than just chipset changes.
When did the red "faster" badge disappear from the MacBooks on store.apple.com?
I don't see how AI's specs preclude LED back-lighting. Steve Jobs is on the record as saying Apple will introduce LED-based laptops THIS YEAR. There's very good chance the MBPs may not get updated again until MWSF2008. This HAS to be when Apple delivers on LED-based LCDs.How is that disappointing?! Although I would've liked to see LED screens.
Again though, this is just a rumor. We don't know until we see it tomorrow.
The Santa Rosa platform still uses the C2D..
Unless you're looking for quad-puting..

Are there panels for the 17" available yet? otherwise their could be a minor bump in the fall to LED-based LCDs.
Well, the 17's could stick with cold cathode. . . the whole line doesn't have to feature LED, right? I mean, the MacBook won't get it for a while yet. . .
Yeah it doesn't "have to", but the 17" customers probably wouldn't be happy if the lower-end 15" models had LED backlighting and the high-end model didn't. Plus that wouldn't make much sense.
Not only that, but I'd think the 17" model would be the first on the list for lower-power backlighting with the bigger display size.

Not if the 17-inch displays cost a bazillion dollars. Erm, are really expensive. And anyway, the people who buy 17-inchers get two more inches of screen real estate and a HUGE battery that gives them better battery life than the 15-inch model.
Hey, they could always stick a 15-inch LED backlight attached to a 17-inch display and do some tricks with mirrors...no?....
...I think I'm reaching here...![]()

Typically, the low-end MBP has had the same HDD specs as the Blackbook. So expect, at minimum, 160GB HD, 8x Superdrive, and 1GB RAM (but most likely 2GB).AppleInsider says 120GB HD...that's less than the standard blackbook
i don't know if anything is coming out tomorrow morning, or if it will be WWDC, but one thing I know for sure is there is no way they're releasing a smaller harddrive in the pro that the blackbook.
hence, i declare BS on AppleInsider's part
wait wait! I found the new LED display they're going to use. Check out the resolution!!

Somehow that doesn't look very portable...
