I think before ditching the Touch Bar. Apple needs to consider ditching the notch on MacBooks. It honestly serves no purpose. Not even Face ID. At least, Touch Bar is semi-functional.

In addition, we are also getting 13" iPad Pro models next year tho.

The notch does hold the webcam and two separate sensors. FaceID would require a much thicker lid or a hump on the case that everyone would complain about.

There is no way I am ever buying any screen with a notch. Ever. Period. Don’t have one, won’t have one. I said it then, I say it now. It is the stupidest kludge, for the most non existent problem, ever. Ever.
i really like the additional screen space that is allowed with the notch. It occupies a sparsely used area of the screen and there is very little downside to it.

If you just don’t like the visual aspect of the notch, you can
1. use a utility to turn the menubar black which pretty effective hides the notch.
2. Use a seething to force the menubar and apps to only appear in the space below the notch.

touch bar emoji and spelling replacement is QOL feature that imo surpasses function row. Personally I wish they'd have ignored feedback a little longer, like they did when they removed iPhone headphone jack
I wish they had paid attention to feedback and iterated on it, instead of just ignoring things and saying "the users will come around."

I'm probably going to upgrade from my M1 Pro to M3 Pro Max, simply because SSD capacity has turned out to be a little tighter than I expected

… well that's the excuse, but the real reason is that my screen has the usual scuffing up from that ridge of metal between the trackpad and the keys, and it's driving me insane. AND I finally thought of a potential solution — I'm gonna try one of those "privacy films" that magnetically attaches to the screen.

Strongly disagree, they should not consider ditching it. They added a strip of display that is just large enough for the menu bar. It can now be always visible without taking up any screen real estate. And if you switch it to always black then the notch effectively disappears.
Agreed. The notch design gave us more space.

Why this and not the real MacBook Pros? I’m still using a late 2016 15” and the butterfly keyboard finally is breaking. Been waiting for the 3nm to replace it with the next 14”.

There was nothing wrong with this design per sé. The butterfly keyboard & Touch Bar soured many people to it though. If Apple renovated this design by replacing the Touch Bar with regular function keys, upgraded the webcam to 1080p, and added MagSafe that would be a solid start.
I'm using one, the M1 version, it has the magic keyboard, the butterfly keyboard was on all the MacBooks until 2020 and replaced on all the MacBooks in 2020, so why would people feel soured just towards the 13 Pro?
All they have to do is update the design, add MagSafe & keep the Touch Bar and they will continue to sell a shed load 😊

Yes! In addition to getting rid of that hideous and non-functional notch, Apple should also get rid of the asymmetrical rounded edges at the top of the display and should replace them with the same 90-degree edges that are at the bottom of the display. Screens should be perfectly rectangular.

I have the M2 version and yeah I agree. I love the design and the TouchBar, but the design does need to be updated. Right now it just feels really odd in the Mac lineup.

Touch-typing becomes pretty much impossible and you're forced to stare at your keyboard at all times, unless you want random functions to activate while you're using Office applications.
They were smoking something really good to think about putting a touchscreen outside your line of sight, instead of giving touch capabilities to the screen you were actually watching, that's for sure.
Why would anyone want to type on the Touch Bar, when you've got a huge Magic Keyboard nearer and much bigger ? 😳
If you're a sample of why some people don't like it or find it useful, then it's no wonder.

Agreed, I would like Apple to offer the Touch Bar on all MacBooks, particularly all the pro models as an option, I would also like all the knockers, to actually use it for more than a review and learn, why it's actually so useful to a lot of people, other than the so called "Techie pro's"

I don't know how you got that idea.
I was saying that the touch bar gets in the way when typing with the conventional keyboard.

Only reason to get a 13" Pro is that it is the cheapest Apple laptop capable of drive multiple external screens, since Apple has dumbed down the Air, so it cannot. Multiple external monitor support is the only reason I am looking into getting a Pro, since my Air has all I need...... Apart from multiple monitor support.
The 13" Pro can only support one external screen, just like the Air....Unless you're thinking of M1 & M2 Pro Chips? 😊

I think the notch is there for the Webcam, but yeah I agree it doesn't look good. It's the main reason I didn't really like the new design. The thinner bezels are nice and all, but why the notch ? :)
If there's a way they can probably squeeze the Webcam and the other sensors within the borders instead of the need to have a notch, that'd be very welcome. I'm not really sure if this is possible though.

My M1 Max is starting to feel old with how fast processors are being released. I planned to have it awhile, so I got the 64GB of RAM, but now it seems like I need to get back into keeping up with the Joneses and upgrade. :D

How? 😳
I've used it for 3 years it has never got in my way! I've also have use of a 16" M1 Pro and it's not as good with the function keys,

touch bar emoji and spelling replacement is QOL feature that imo surpasses function row, add to that volume & brightness control is much quicker & smoother, also changing the font whilst typing and controlling media consumption.
I suspect most people that knock it, haven't really used it, in any meaningful way.

At which point they might as well bring out a new design and I suspect they will.

The notch is iconic, not upgrading my 13 pro until it returns, love it, its Apple in a nutshell 😊

"Next-generation MacBook Pro" is silly if it's just the same 13" MacBook Pro design we've had since 2016.
Some of us still love that design. Alas the 13” screen and resolution is just too small now to be called a pro.

Apple should mix the 13” entirely and slot the 13” MBA in its place according to price.

15” MBA nicely is already in place before the 14” MBP THEN FINALLY THE 16” MBP.

Having a Touch Bar on at least one model is good for those who like it

I agree but I wish they'd go all in like they are rumored to do with Dynamic Island. Having it on only one model gives developers little incentive to support it. Would be nice to be able to have a touch bar AND a function row. I wouldn't want to give up my function row in exchange, but I wouldn't mind having it.
