I wonder if today or tomorrow apple will send the invites for an 19th October event to crush pixel event ?!
Tomorrow, unfortunately, will not be the day. Google's pixel event is on the 19th at 1PM and there is no way that Apple is dumb enough to put their incredibly important announcement right up against that flood of headlines. Apple may send invites on the day of the Pixel event, I could believe that, but they certainly won't hold a simultaneous event. They want all eyes on them.I’m praying tomorrow is the day. If not then maybe by end of this week. Tired of waiting for this Max. We all know it exists
Yeah, and it's driving me crazy.Well the good news is that we are running out of Oct. if indeed we get this in oct.
My previous post is wrong, for the 14" 1 TB. It should not be a $200 price premium, but a $400 price premium, vs. the 14" 512 GB. I have corrected the original post as follows:My rough prediction would be something like this in the US:
$999 - 13" MacBook Air 256 GB M1 8 GB
$1249 - 13" MacBook Air 512 GB M1 8 GB
$1299 - 13" MacBook Pro 256 GB M1 8 GB
$1499 - 13" MacBook Pro 512 GB M1 8 GB
$1799 - 14" MacBook Pro 512 GB M1X 16 GB
$1999 - 14" MacBook Pro 1 TB M1X 16 GB
$2399 - 16" MacBook Pro 512 GB M1X 16 GB
$2799 - 16" MacBook Pro 1 TB M1X 16 GB
Those prices aren't guaranteed of course, but at most I think those prices could vary by $100 at each tier, esp. with the 14" model. If not $1799/$1999 for the 14", then $1899/$2099.
What do you want exactly? EVERYTHING?So a super tricked out 14" with max everything and a 4TB drive.... around $3600?
(assuming 14" has same m1x options as 16")
The base Intel 1 TB 16 GB 16" model is $2799. To bump it up to 32 GB RAM (+$400), highest end GPU (+$700), and 4 TB SSD (+$1000) is $4899, or an increase of another $2100 over base price.14"
M1X (whatever high end version is)
32 GPU cores
32 gigs ram
4 TB drive
Yeah, I was wondering about that. You may be right. I don't expect the 14" to get the 8 TB SSD option either. The 14" may max out at 4 TB, while the 16" will max out at 8 TB.dont expect the 32gpu cores in the 14" smaller encloser...that option will remain for the bigger imac and the bigger macbook pro
The other thing I'm wondering about is if the max RAM will be 32 GB or 64 GB. Even if there is a 64 GB RAM option, it too may be limited to the 16" model.
Ofc, both will start with 16gb ram, but the 14" will be max at 32gb ram for sure...the SoC unit its too big for the 14" enclosure to have 64gb ram and 32 gpu cores...even for the 16" could be around the limit but that unit could have, and probably will have bigger vents (for better heat dissipation ) and bigger batteryYeah, I was wondering about that. BTW, despite the fact that so many people sing the praises of the 8 GB M1 model, and claim how memory is often not as critical as with the Intel models, I still think the 14" and 16" models will start at 16 GB RAM. There are a lot more reviews out there now from YouTubers and such that say that 16 GB is most definitely an advantage, as they get weird performance issues or outright crashes from 8 GB models, even though 8 GB on M1 performs better than 8 GB on Intel.
That would make me go 16".
And sadly, leave it in clamshell mode 99% of the time due to my workflow.
Also, you know for darn sure that model would not ship till "late nov"!! lol.
The wait is going to be worth it, 😁 never heard the fans turn on, never gotten warm, had mine since launch day.Tired of waiting for this Mac
How big are your pockets??Maybe I just go with a Mini M1x at that point. (if they announce it) then and buy an extra display for the only other location i go to and just carry it in my pocket.
Side-note: this oft-reliable leaker claimed in August that the 14" and 16" would have identical specs and chips:
If that's true then there will be absolutely no justifiable reason to continue charging a $600 premium to move up to the 16" base model from the 14" (legacy 13-inch 4-port) base model. They should move the base model pricing structure to $1799 / $2199 - at the most. If they keep it at $2399 then I will likely go for the 14".
Really you have to pay $1100 extra (!!) to jump from the smaller-size MacBook Pro to the one with the bigger screen. I understand that many other enhancements come along the way, but that structure is truly asinine. What if I want a larger laptop but don't need to be able to computationally solve world hunger?
Hah, that's incredible. I have a photo from 2012 when I bought the original iPad mini and stuffed it into my jeans' front pocket. Such an awesome device.Cargo pants. That combined with a more Apple TV 'esq shape to the new mac mini pro and it should fit fine.
The new ipad mini fits in my pants. while I wait on my order, apple shipped me the cover for it. Fits!!
He did not spell everything out however. Yes, both will get the same M1X SoC, but it's still quite possible there will be some differences for configure-to-order models. Both will have M1X, clocked at the same speed, and both will likely get the 16 core GPU as a baseline. However, it's plausible that only the 16" model will get the option of a 32 core GPU. Similarly, both will likely start at 16 GB RAM and both would have the option to upgrade to 32 GB, but it's plausible that only the 16" will get the option of 64 GB RAM.Side-note: this oft-reliable leaker claimed in August that the 14" and 16" would have identical specs and chips:

From a pure design point of view, there would be enough room in the 14" for up to 64 GB RAM and more GPU cores. While the thermals would be more difficult in a 14", they are not insurmountable, and those machines would still likely run cooler than the previous Intel models. However, I think the bigger reason Apple might limit the 14" to 32 GB RAM and 16-core is for the upsell to the 16" model, especially when the number of potential uber high end 14" buyers is going to be low anyway. It may not be worth it for Apple to create a bunch of additional SKUs to serve that small market, from a marketing point of view. So, max 16 gpu cores and 32 gb ram but the cpu performance should be around the same ...still, for an 14" will be top of the line, impressive with no competition in the cpu or even gpu area i would say
well if it isnt that hard to do they should offer the same and allow the consumer to pay what it costs. I am the uber high end 14" buyer and really hope they deliver. Will be a day one order for a 32gb ram 32 core [if the GPU is upto the tasks].He did not spell everything out however.
