What size screen MacBook Pro (2021) did you order?

Hope you're right, since we have the entry model M1 MacBook Pro starting at $1,999 AUD, I can see Tim Cook raising the prices heavily on these redesigned MacBook pros, hopefully they follow the same pricing as the mini led iPad Pro, that didn't get a massive price bump.

A new chip and mini led isn't worth a extra $1000, throw in 120hz & Face ID, raise the price by $200, then you might have my attention. 🧐💻💰🏃‍♂️
A$1999? No, it's A$1899 according to Apple including GST.

These are current US prices:

$999 - 13" MacBook Air 256 GB M1
$1249 - 13" MacBook Air 512 GB M1

$1299 - 13" MacBook Pro 256 GB M1
$1499 - 13" MacBook Pro 512 GB M1

$2399 - 16" MacBook Pro 512 GB Intel
$2799 - 16" MacBook Pro 1 TB Intel

As you can see, there is already a hefty price premium included for the Pros vs the MacBook Air.

As Apple will be saving a fair bit of money on its M1X vs. the Intel CPUs and mobos, I'm thinking Apple will simply keep the 16" pricing about the same. I don't see it going up much, but I don't see it going down much either.

The more difficult question for me is what will happen with the 14" models. There's currently a ginormous price jump between the 13" Pro and the 16" Pro, and that's because Apple removed the intermediate Intel models. I think the 14" models will fit into that gap to take over the spot that was previously vacated by the Intel quad-core 13" Pros.

So, Apple may introduce a new-old price category for the 14" M1X Pros, while keeping the 13" M1 models in the mix, for the time being at least.

My rough prediction would be something like this in the US:

$999 - 13" MacBook Air 256 GB M1 8 GB
$1249 - 13" MacBook Air 512 GB M1 8 GB

$1299 - 13" MacBook Pro 256 GB M1 8 GB
$1499 - 13" MacBook Pro 512 GB M1 8 GB

$1799 - 14" MacBook Pro 512 GB M1X 16 GB
$2199 - 14" MacBook Pro 1 TB M1X 16 GB

$2399 - 16" MacBook Pro 512 GB M1X 16 GB
$2799 - 16" MacBook Pro 1 TB M1X 16 GB

Those prices aren't guaranteed of course, but at most I think those prices could vary by $100 at each tier, esp. with the 14" model. If not $1799/$2199 for the 14", then $1899/$2299.

Mind you, I am totally uninterested in a new Mac laptop. I still prefer the size of my 2017 12" MacBook. I'm looking at the Mac mini:

$699 - 256 GB M1
$899 - 512 GB M1
$1099 - 512 GB Intel

It looks like a new Mac mini with new form factor, more ports, and M1X would be that same $1099 price point, or perhaps $100 higher at $1199 if they make it 16 GB by default for the M1X Mac mini.

Not looking good, normally it would've been mentioned by now, apple will most likely hold it back for a future release, so they can make even more money.

Redesign will get everyone spending money this year.

Then everyone will upgrade again next year, when apple introduces 120hz.

Then again the following year, when they introduce Face ID. 🤦‍♂️

It's typical apple marketing.
I’m trying to think back to whether or not the introduction of 120 Hz on the 2017 iPad Pros was ever rumored beforehand…

I think you’re right and that it’s likely the displays remain at 60 Hz, but talking about it like a foregone conclusion is misleading. I for one really want ProMotion, it’s one of my favorite features.

I don’t know…. How likely is it really that Apple unveils these stunning new MacBooks, which right several years of wrongs, and blow the competition away in everything except a crippling deficiency in refresh rate that is bested by the competition, Apple’s own tablets and phones, etc.? I’m very torn between thinking there’s absolutely no way they could omit the feature from such a crucial product and fearing they’ll purposefully stash it away as a handy Gen 2 upgrade.

Pro = 120Hz on all of Apple’s devices except their most expensive, most “Pro” flagship computers? It would just be really weird. I wish the rumors were pointing towards ProMotion on Macs.

This is apple we’re talking about. It’s very possible they will do this. 🤦‍♂️

How long did it take them to start offering decent storage in their iPhones, even the current MacBook Air and Pro still start at 256gb storage lol.

They could’ve easily given the new iMac Face ID, since the chassis is more then fix enough to house it, but no, make more dollars with a future release.

Only reason I’m holding onto a tiny bit of hope that we’ll see 120hz, nothing has been leaked about these new MacBook pros.

Apple has done a good job on keeping them under wrap.

I would love to see Pro Motion on these new 14" and 16" models. Honestly the big issue right now for me is the lack of 32GB of RAM alongside the dual and triple monitor support for external displays.

I think these new M1X will be really good I'm just worried about the battery life because I really want to maintain the same battery life as current Air/Pro M1 Models.

For pricing, I'm a bit worried but I would accept a base 14" between 1499$ - 1799$.. More than that I don't know if I'm going for it. Honestly a base model M1X would be a great deal at 1499$

@EugW had a good guestimate on what prices could be above:

My rough prediction would be something like this in the US:

$999 - 13" MacBook Air 256 GB M1 8 GB
$1249 - 13" MacBook Air 512 GB M1 8 GB

$1299 - 13" MacBook Pro 256 GB M1 8 GB
$1499 - 13" MacBook Pro 512 GB M1 8 GB

$1799 - 14" MacBook Pro 512 GB M1X 16 GB
$1999 - 14" MacBook Pro 1 TB M1X 16 GB

$2399 - 16" MacBook Pro 512 GB M1X 16 GB
$2799 - 16" MacBook Pro 1 TB M1X 16 GB

$2000 for a 14" at 1TB and 16GB of memory? I'd jump on that, as that's only $200 more than what I bought my mid-2011 13" MBA at in 2011, and that was at 256GB and 4GB of memory.

Honestly, I don't think most people would actually care that much. Sure some people would care, but most wouldn't. I have 120 Hz on my iPad Pro and I don't care.

If it gets it then great. If not, then oh well, no biggie. It will come with the next iteration.

No, you don't need to watch the video. I just wanted to point out the title. Can you imagine the number of clicks this guy gets for posting a new video every day?

Apple MacBook Pro 14 Release Date and Price – 120Hz Pro-Motion Display!

That guy is milking the **** out of this upcoming release. It’s working well because his sub count is going up like crazy.

Looking very tempting, especially if I use a family member uni ID via the education store, plus trade in, the 16” model will cost me $2,200 if prices stay the same, hmmm, very interesting indeed. 🤔😂

Hmm... you're having me thinking now.. I'm already backing up my wife's 16" MBP (2019) via Time Machine... I'm wondering what her resale value would be, and get us both up to Silicon. Otherwise she's going to lose support regardless..

Check via the apple store app what apple is willing to offer you, select a Apple Watch, then add your Mac as trade in, see what price they offer you.

Unless you’re outside of the U.S. (where I don’t know the rules) you shouldn’t ever have to verify education status via a uni ID. Just go to the education store and click ‘Yes’ to their agreement and you’re good.

Wait.. just realized you called it uni so you’re probably outside of the U.S. :)

Correct. 🇦🇺🦘😂

They were already leaked months ago.

Why don’t I see 120hz anywhere 🧐💻🤦‍♂️😂

I need actual photos, videos of these new beasts in all their glory, these sketches aren’t doing it for me. 😂

Perhaps the most telling thing about the screen resolution leak is that there is no resolution listed for a 29"/30" iMac. So, such a beast won't be coming any time soon, much to the dismay of my friends and family. The ones I know who want new Macs want the big Macs, not MacBook Pros.

You never know, they might announce them at the upcoming event, can’t see them holding a event for only 2 MacBook Pros, event will be over in 20 minutes. 😂

Tell them another place has them covered. But in all honesty, they should be going for the infamous Double-Double:

Personally, I'd go for the 3x3, barring anything that I make myself. My first job was at McDonalds, so I grew tired of the food real fast.

But I digress, as I could easily derail this conversation and tick off everyone by talking food and making everyone curse me for making them hungry. 😂

My rough prediction would be something like this in the US:
$1799 - 14" MacBook Pro 512 GB M1X 16 GB
$1999 - 14" MacBook Pro 1 TB M1X 16 GB
If they go too much beyond these prices, then I'm going for this option:
$0 - 16" 2019 with Monterey low power mode to fix the blaring fans.

What's interesting is that, in converting USD to EUR, Apple applies factor 1.115 for the base 13" MBP ($1300 to €1450) but 1.15 for memory upgrades ($200 to €230) and even over 1.18 for the Intel base 13" MBP ($1800 to €2130). It's hard to follow. Because the predicted 14" base price would match that of the current base Intel 13", I'm guessing the 14" would replace that Intel and stay at the same price.
