After a while on the phone with Apple support, it looks like there’s an amicable solution. Somehow UPS damaged the box to the point the contents are likely crushed. Evidently something heavy slid off a shelf and landed on my MBP. I had a BTO (14” M1 Max, 32G, 32 Core, 1TB). They were able to locate a similar configuration but with 2TB and are overnighting it to me at no extra charge. I can live with that. Oh yeah, using FEDEX. I insisted ?
Good. Telling you that you'd have to reorder is absolute BS because that "glitch" wasn't any fault of yours, and as the customer, you deserve an honest explanation on the status of the product you paid for.
