What size screen MacBook Pro (2021) did you order?

Got my 16" M1 Max today. Overall I'm extremely happy with it except for a couple of things. I don't care for the notch, but will have to learn to get used to it I guess. Also, Promotion doesn't appear to be working in Safari. Its jittery when I scroll and I don't see this massive difference over the previous MacBook Pro's.

Update:

So, crazy thing happened...as I was leaving to pick up my in store 14-inch MacBook Pro, the UPS delivery person came to my home and dropped off my laptop!

I finally got it!

And, I canceled my in store pickup, which I thought for sure, was going to be my 14-inch MacBook Pro...

UPS couldn't have timed it any better, could they?

UPS was supposed to deliver the laptop anytime between 11am - 3pm, and they came by around 4:20pm, precisely the time I was leaving to pick up the 14-inch MacBook Pro for in-store pick up:

My in-store pick up was scheduled at 4:45pm:

I am at least grateful that the laptop wasn't delayed, damaged, or missplaced, like some unfortunate people today.

But what an experience! Time to experience the magic of that MagSafe, Micro/Mini-LED + ProMotion display and the power of the M1 Pro SoC! Let's go!!!!

This is a lesson for people to just be a little bit more patient with deliveries!

There’s a Thread that talks about this and there is speculation that it is due to Monterey.

Yeah that's why I'm setting up as new. New silicon architecture = I don't want years of Intel Mac config garbage polluting the new system. I'll manually transfer the files I need over.

I'm actually in the middle of downloading Monterey now. I'm hoping that the architecture on the binary is universal so it can run on both Intel and Silicon (I would assume that it is, otherwise no Intel Mac that is currently supported could update to Monterey). I'm going to try to create the USB boot stick from Sierra, so when I get the new Mac, I can just do a straight clean reinstall and not worry about the build that is on the Mac when it was shipped.

BL.

Whew this thread moves fast!

I got my 14” MacBook Pro delivered today along with my AirPods 3.
(Side note: The new AirPods sound amazing compared to the old ones. Wow.)

I still had mixed feelings going from 16" to 14" so I didn't even open the box. After UPS dropped it off, I ordered the 16” this afternoon for in store pickup. I did a pickup & return in one fell swoop. FAMOUS LAST WORDS: I don’t think I’ll impulsively order a new Mac design immediately again after an Apple event announcement like I did on October 18th, now that I know they have in store pick up on launch day haha.

After obsessing about these new MacBook Pros I need a breather…just to enjoy it & life haha. Life is good!

I think this makes sense if you're going with one of the base configs. If you're doing any customization / BTO's beyond that, Apple Stores seem to very rarely get any of those in on launch day (except for a few of the "Ultimate" configs, fully-loaded, with 64gb memory etc.)

Pre-Covid, you could pre-order, but choose in-store pick-up. That's what I did with my Late-2016 MBP - and I way preferred that so you don't have to play the waiting game with delivery / carries. Was a bummer they didn't offer the in-store pick-up this year, presumably because of Covid, they didn't want so many people crowding into the stores on launch day.
I was in an Apple Store yesterday, Monday…there were so many people in the store you literally could not walk down an aisle. I can’t even begin to imagine what it was like today!

That's a really dumb angle to shoot it as a comparison, considering that the actual depth is not substantially different. The new models just have more volume because they don't taper, which is missing on the old model because it's hidden by the edge.
And the edges are softer so they feel better in the hand. They're not sharp like on the previous models.
