For me, if there is a notch I could care less so long as it’s functional. But I’m more of a function over form person.
They usually are but anything could happen. Honestly it’s 50/50. Tomorrow is the last day for the event. I really hope someone reliable leaks the pre-order time of the event.
I’m the same exact way. But some people just hate the notch. They can’t stand it 😂

If it gets the job done why not, right? Maybe it’s not going to look as bad as the pictures have shown in the leaks
You have probably just jinxed it, but that does not look too bad if there is more than just the camera. Like the space has to accommodate something else to justify the size, unless it is some much higher quality camera system that we do not know about.
The design has been confirmed a long time ago. We are not just seeing it. I guess we will find out on Monday. If there is a notch there and if it has a higher quality camera I think it’s worth it dealing with the notch then.
Blending in the size of the menu bar would actually be a nice touch like others have said.
I think the notch on MBP would be cool if they moved the informational spirit of the touchbar up there and combined it with the functionality of menu bar items. They could modify the OS to make apps think 'full screen' is everything under the notch whereas the area to the right and left of notch is considered a second screen for small widgets of information (the widgets would be slightly taller than what's currently capable of being displayed in the menu bar).
That way you can have an actually usable widget for music control, stock tickers, etc. always present and out of the way of the main real estate.

I like the idea of the notch on the macbook, it will still be a 16:10 display as the resolution is now even taller.
No matter what. The resolution of the screen is definitely going to be higher. Also we will have more screen. With notch or without the notch.
That plus 120hz mini led at the higher tier, would be nice if that made it to the base model 14 inch as well.

Since you seem to change display pictures and shades of colour between each product announcement and launch, we are closing in on the endgame:
This. Whether Apple has implemented the notch in the new design, there has to be a lot of OS tweaks for that to work out.
It’ll be weird if Apple goes with this notch-route though, I mean, for me the whole notebook experience is also having a full display. Face ID or whatever they end up putting up there won’t be able change that, specially for video/photo editors.
Still placing my order though, Apple regardless will find some workaround and convince me 😂
I think I'll be going for a 16" MBP, with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. I don't need lots of graphics cores or space, so its more about CPU cores for me. And as much as I grudge having-to, I want that bigger screen which makes such a difference when working on the laptop for hours on-end.
Edit... Will be interesting to see exactly what is different from the 14" to the 16" machine apart from the screen. I'm assuming the size of case will mean we get much better speakers and mics as well.
Ideally there will be a nice standalone 30"+ display designed for these with integrated webcam and lots of ports, but I think that's just wishful thinking.
If they do release that display, then I may be tempted to bump-up the RAM and SSD - the alternative option is to buy a larger iMac if they release that so I have a more powerful desktop available all the time and the MBP for everything else.

What if the reason the keyboard does not have a Touch Bar is that they have moved the ACTUAL Touch Bar to the top, with the notch embedded in the middle of it? 🙃

The report is coming from Gurman. I doubt Apple will only release 2 💻 14” and 16” along with AirPods. This is the last Apple’s event of 2021. Hopefully they will squeeze everything in on this event
I hope they squeeze in something after the new macs, so I have a couple of quite minutes to decide which MacBook I want to buy without being in a rush …The report is coming from Gurman. It would be better if pre-order starts on Friday, October 22nd, 2021. I really hope Apple doesn’t open the pre-orders right away.
