Yes! The trade off is much better. I think People have set their expectations with Apple very high which they should but they want something like Tony Stark or James Bond type technology in the real world.
For me I will be upgrading from my 2018 13 inch macbook pro..will be doing the apple trade in since honestly who would want to buy a 3 yr old laptop makes no sense..apple offers 540 for it Im afraid to know how low it will be tomorrow..so am waiting to format the laptop til I know exactly what is coming out tomorrow

What if we're surprised with the rumored 'affordable' (relative) Thunderbolt display replacement tomorrow to accompany the new M1X devices considering they can finally power more than one screen.

M1 Max = base chip for new 14 and 16. comes with 16 core GPU.

M1 Pro = paid upgrade, comes with 32 core GPU, + potentially other stuff (?)

Event should be interesting, hopefully no notch. 🙏🙏🙏
I have a feeling notch might be appearing too many leaks this weekend. MacRumors and Twitter has been blowing up. Unless Apple decided to fuel the rumors and false news themselves so they can surprise us all. @arn

The notch won't be too bad if Apple make the surrounding area a pure black widget/menu bar zone. I'm actually pro-notch if it means I get a bit more real estate for my apps without having to hide the menu bar like I do now.

But that means the menu bar will stay black at all times. Maybe Apple won’t allow users to change the colors of the menu bar?

How much are people thinking their build will be? 3k? 4k? 5k? How many people are going base model?

If we do. Get ready for people to break the internet with memes 😂 are you planning on watching the event at 04:00AM Aus time?
Lol, not sure yet, the notch has taken all the hype out of the event.

I can tolerate the notch if it had Face ID, all the rumors are suggesting that ain’t happening this year.

It sure has. People are not even concerned what the beast 💻 is going to be carrying. The notch has taken over, haha!

You think this is bad? People went crazy because the puddles in the last Spiderman game looked different from previews, welcome to modern Reddit style reactions.

Are we expecting them to maintain the $1799 entry price?
The would be a safe bet, they also introduced the 13" retina at $1700 so anything in that range is fine.

I really hope the rumor that the 32-core GPU requires 64 GB RAM isn’t true because I really want the graphics power to meet or exceed that of my 2019 16” without paying a huge premium. I don’t want to pay much more than $3500.

Hopefully, the prices are lower. The Mac has been dominating but not overall. The higher cost is a biggest factor. I have a feeling the prices remains the same as what they are offering for 2020 💻 now.

The value proposition of these new devices would be much higher than the intel ones at this price point. I am also hopeful that Apple is maintaining prices as we saw the iPhone 13 Pro build costs increase but sold at the same price.

Apples pricing structure for a few years seems to be around subsidising the prices of the mainstream configurations with absurd upgrade prices for those who want the top performance possible and are willing to pay but also gives them the freedom to do so. I wouldn't expect the 64gb ram to be tied to the graphics option unless there is a technical reason for it.
