What size screen MacBook Pro (2021) did you order?

Got home last night around 7:30p. Greeted the dogs - who were quite happy to see us, got the car unpacked, and then opened up my MBP. Still working on getting apps I want loaded back up - but quite happy with it so far.

A few observations:
  • Size - 14" is perfect for what I was looking for. I wanted performance & power with mobility. I'd eyed up a 13" MBP in the past, but never pulled the trigger. Glad I waited. Its not as chunky as I had envisioned it being with all of the pics/videos I'd watched thus far. Its quite comfortable and actually a fantastic size/weight/thickness combination. I hope our friends at Apple are over the whole "make it thinner" phase.
  • Screen - In a word - stunning. HDR videos on YouTube really showed off some of what its capable of. I'm floored. and I LOVE the thin bezels.
  • Battery - Screen on time now approaching 4 hours of usage at various brightness levels (letting it auto adjust). I'm at 70% and haven't charged it yet.
  • Magsafe - I'm so glad its back! Connected the cable to remind me how great it was - but haven't actually charged with it yet.
I'm so pleased with this purchase. Also - what notch? ;) In all seriousness, its really the best spot they could put it. For my usage, the center of the menubar is really ideal. It's been great fun to watch everyone's reactions and tracking on this thread.

My config:
  • 14" Silver MacBook Pro
  • 1TB SSD
  • M1 Pro 10-Core/16-Core GPU
  • 32GB Unified Memory

Congrats! Glad you like it, because that exact config is on the way to me (except space gray).

Wait is it always better to shut it down? Do you ever put your Mac to sleep?
From MacMyths 2021…

There is no much need to shut down Macs every night anymore. It does not save a significant amount of electricity and by shutting down the computer you will prevent it from doing important tasks.

Besides every morning you will spend several minutes waiting for a laptop to turn on and firing the apps you closed the day before.

@LFC2020 this is for you as well. 😁 Change is good.

Thank you for this. Very informative. It makes no sense to shut down the Mac every night. Especially if you plan on using it everyday.

😊 I figure since it’s not a power draw during sleep mode, I don‘t want to go through the hassle of a full shut down/wake function every time that I want to use it.

Even if I go days without using it, it wakes up as soon as I open the lid with no discernible drop in battery percentage.

I think that’s exactly what SVP Craig mentioned during the keynote. The Mac will wake up instantly and Apple has worked hard on that feature. It’s very instant and it’s running on the go right away.

Bills 🤔 tasks 🤔 all I use it for is safari. 😬😁

Not booting up these crappy intel machines anymore. 👌 haven’t timed how long my new one takes to boot up, I’ll time it later on.

Sometimes you just gotta jump in with both feet. Your SEXY beast of goodness that is the 16” MBP will thank you for it. 😁

Just think of the wear that’s happening behind the scenes every time you shut down/start up whenever you want to use the 💻.

It’s crying in agony every time begging to be saved from the abuse. 😭🥲🤣

I’ve slept my MacBooks for 10 years With nary a problem.

I just picked up my MacBook Pro.

I’m sure this has been discussed to no end but my order was for mid December but I clicked on last night and there were a few units locally.

Unfortunately no custom configurations .. anyways based on the latest info the 32 gb ram makes little difference from 16 gb based on the ssd speed.

So I’ll use the $400 savings on hookers and blow.

I think shutting down is ideal for PC users because it tends to get very heated even sleeping on low mode but for 💻 they are intelligent smart.

It’s like saying you shut down your iPhone every night 😆

I’m very stubborn lol, I’m going to shut it down every time.

My M1 MacBook Pro still had 100% battery health when I sold it. 👌😎 was using it daily.

Plus I get OCD knowing it’s kinda still on when I’m not using it. Lol

Nothing ever happens behind the scenes on my mac, I’ve only got 2 apps installed 😁

My goddess gets treated better than I do, still haven’t touched the screen since picking her up, spotless. 👌🧐💻

My M1 MBA was at 100% when I traded it to Apple… not a valid argument.?

Ok, valid… for you.?

Your goddess is begging you for mercy. ?

Seriously though, do what is best for you always. ??

Lol, think I should get my lazy ass out of bed, double check that I shut down my goddess properly. 😁

Then it’s time for some delicious leftover BBQ, lamb shoulder, chops, sausages and some garlic carrot dip. 👌
