I decided to return my 14 inch and upgrade to 32gb of ram to make it a little more future proof where I won’t have to upgrade my computer again for hopefully a while. New delivery Dec 17-24. Anyone have this date range and have had early movement? I know I am FAR away now. Bummer. But I can wait for the right configuration.
Good job waiting - I know the feeling, ordered a 14" M1 Pro with 32GB / 1TB within 15mins of online store opening. Been watching the last 2 weeks wondering if I should've just gotten the base model with 16gb / 1TB which I could've gotten in store the first few days it was released. Happy I stayed patient, and it's finally Out for Delivery today! I kept telling myself that I'm keeping this for 5+ years (like my current 2016 13" MBP), and I won't even remember these past 2 weeks once I get it. Stay strong ✊ and repeat the mantra over and over in your head!
Rule 1 never listen to the wife.
Rule 2 never listen to the wife
Rule 3 ☝️😂
LOL, this sounds like something someone who isn't married would say! You gotta pick your battles! I used to hate the phrase "Happy wife, happy life", but now I understand it!
Doing a clean install is brutal.

I've been thinking a lot the last 2 weeks, as I waited for my MBP, about whether I'll do a clean install or not. I think I'll bite the bullet and do it clean, even if it's annoying. I've had my 2016 13" MBP for 5 years now, and I think even more so, going from Intel > Apple Silicon, adds an extra layer of "muck" that might get transferred over if I don't.
So basically, you just log into your iCloud account on your new MBP, reinstall all your apps manually from the App Store, and copy over any documents / files you want? For the latter, is the fastest way to just use a Thunderbolt 3 cable and connect the old and new MBPs directly?
