I ordered my macbook air with 16GB RAM on 15th nov 2021, it was shipped in 2 days after ordering on 17th Nov 2021(china morning 18th & USA night 17th ),
it is coming from EPZ, China to USA.
Apple says it will be delivered on Nov 29th, yesterday it was showing 23rd deliver date on UPS but today it says delivery date will be provided as soon as possible, so I called UPS today to check for the status and they said its still in clearance in China so they can't say any confirm delivery date yet, hope my package is safe and comes early as I can't wait now, I am being so impatient.

Whoa.

Shipping times picked up BIG TIME.

I haven't ordered the Mac I want yet, but I am always checking the estimated shipping times for the Mac I am selecting. Well, last I checked last week to a fortnight ago, shipping times were out to 5-7 weeks, putting me at getting it at or around Christmas Day if I ordered back then...

Now? 1-2 weeks, with Standard Delivery being between December 9 - December 16.

Why is that big? It's big because if that 5-7 week period held, Apple's extended Holiday Return period wouldn't have meant a thing, because their normal 14-day return policy would put me right at January 8th - the last day of their extended holiday return period. If the 12/9-12/16 period holds, I'd be getting an extra week for that return.

That's big... and almost enough to make me pull the trigger in the next couple of days.

Why can I order the same custom config right now with the same estimated dates (that suddenly just got bumped up) that I have for an order I placed 2 weeks ago…..

Shipping times improved, based on stock now being available and released after the glut of demand.

My dates should move up then! Lol

Depending on how they processed the order, as well as location. I mean, logic should dictate a FIFO queue, but with shipping and supply constraints from the past month, logic has been thrown out the door. Think about it this way.. What if your BTO is already in stock at a distro center already in the US, instead of having to be built from scratch in China?

At the time you ordered, it had to be BTO from scratch in China. Now, Apple has had time to get some of those configurations in bulk out to their own distribution centers, so they can pick from that instead of being built from scratch.

Not saying that that is the actual case, but is a possibility.

That happens. As time goes on shipping times improve. As far as yoru order, Apple is trying to work through a back-log as well as new orders. As mentioned above, if Apple is able to secure your order through an already existing BTO, they will ship it to you. Otherwise it would a fresh new order.

Just ordered the 16-inch M1 Max 64GB/8TB with Jan 17th-28th. Going to sit back and wait. 0% chance it gets delivered early, but we'll see.

Think my MBP just hopped on this flight - UPS My Choice showed departure from Incheon to Anchorage at 820 AM 11/20/2021:

Yep.. that should be your flight. Now, depending on where you are, you could actually stay up and listen to your flight coming in:

Start with Anchorage Center (Kenai), and work your way down to PANC Approach, then PANC Tower. You can hear it in the air all the way until it gets to the UPS ramp and shuts down. Reverse that order for the next flight out closest to your departure scan that is headed to KSDF.

Additionally, you could check to see if your nearest major airport has LiveATC coverage. More than likely a UPS flight should land there. Now, there may be some exceptions.. UPS uses Rockford for its base, not MDW or ORD.. here in Sacramento, they use MHR instead of SMF. OAK is the base for the Bay area, not SFO. So check to see which ones UPS has a history of flights for in your area, and then track your flight from SDF to that airport, and you should be set.
