What size screen MacBook Pro (2021) did you order?

When would my May 3-10 order I placed start moving I got the MacBook Pro m1 max 16 inch 64 Gb ram 1tb with pro creation apps via apple edu with apple care plus ?
From reading this thread it seems apple's estimates for the M1 Max at least are pretty on. M1 Pros are coming faster than their estimates, my wife's did and I have seen other people post it. But every M1 Max post I see gets their laptop at best 2 days before estimate. My M1 max says April 25 - May 2. I expect I will have it around April 23rd. You will most likely get yours around May 1st unless things turn around. I could be way off but just what I have observed.

For those who still have their orders out there, you may be in for a little bit more hurt.

With different regions of Shanghai going on a rolling 9-day solid lockdown due to Omicron spreading there, which will prevent any Macs from being built, let alone shipped for a good two weeks, so expect to see some delayed shipping times, it's a rolling lockdown, separated by regions around Shanghai. For them, they are saying that no-one is going anywhere outside, so no work is going to be done.

If I remember right, the factory is on the west side of town, which will be affected first, so no work will be done for any builds. Making it worse, the shipping/distribution centers are on the east side of town, which will be affected after the west side, so no shipping or prep for shipping will be done.

So fair warning on those shipping times; they may start to slip.

MBP 16" M1 Max just ordered.
RAM upgraded to 64GB.
Otherwise everything else is base spec as I have plenty of external SSD TB4 storage etc!

ETA - 3-10th May!!!

Placed my order today - exact same spec as you (without the Pro Creation Apps as I have them already). Also via Apple Edu and with Applecare +

Same shipping date as you as well - even though I ordered a few days after you.....
Maybe they just come in batches.....

Not in general batches, but I saw a kind of grouping of the same specs for a time range, in my case, I saw ppl being charged the same day as me, and even the shipping process was the same on MBPs that were ordered 3-4 days prior to mine or 1-2 day after, so if the time range is not that big, your MBPs will mostly be manufactured and shipped together.

Just had my order (16" M1 Max) delivery slip from between March 28 - April 4 to between April 20 to 28a!!

This should be expected. Reference the hard COVID lockdown going on in Shanghai right now. The city has been split into 4 quadrants, where each quadrant goes into a hard 9-day lockdown where no one can essentially go outside to do anything, let alone work. The factory area is in one quadrant, while the shipping carrier’s distribution centers are in another, while the airport is in a third.

At the least, this puts each place out of commission for 18 days. That is naturally going to cause shipping dates to slip.

Still waiting for my 16" M1 Max 32c/32GB/1TB that I ordered from a Norwegian retailer in early December.
Estimated delivery has been continually pushed 1 month every time the delivery date approaches... Current one is 5th of May. It's getting pretty ridiculous. Anyone else in Norway having the same issue? Retailer in question is Power.
I even bought a 14", mostly to test out to see if 14" is big enough while waiting.
Im finding the screen to small, so I'm going to return when I get the one I ordered originally.

Worst slippage yet 3rd time, its gone from April 20 - 28th to June 1st - 15th ?
2nd time was painful enough, they even charged me then dropped it back onto my card 7 days later when date slipped.

It should start to pick up now, though. Shanghai just came out of lockdown, so they will have a lot of backlog to go through, including all of the base models that have to make it to the warehouses again.

Now, if you were getting an iPhone you'd be in trouble, as Shenzhen and Zhangzhou just went into lockdown.

I already mentioned this in another thread, but I canceled my order for a new 16"|Pro|32GB|4TB and bought a certified refurb 16"|Max|64GB|4TB. It arrived within two days, battery still at 100% health.

If time is of the essence, it seems like a good alternative.

Given the circunstances I do feel sorry for all the people that didn't received their machine yet, specially if it's needed to replace a non-working one or you need more real hoursepower to accomplish your workload. In any case, I know how hard is to wait months to receive it. So all my strength to all of you!!!

In the other hand, I can't picture how lucky I am cause mine was delivered on 24th March and was ordered on 29th Jan, saw stories/posts of orders pushed several weeks later that were place just days after I did mine, crazy.

Last but not least, this is superb news, I do have a fella that cancelled his order via reseller (placed it on November) and ordered it on February, his delivery date was pushed one month and its new delivery window starts next week, let's see how it goes. Thx for the heads up!

Indeed it is, you're not the first one taking this path, saw multiple ppl around reddit doing the same, and I can totally understand it, even if it's downgrading and/or upgrading the specs a tiny bit, time is money as well.

My bro ordered a 16" Max (2TB) a week ago from the Apple Online Store, delivery was estimated for the first half of June, but his card was charged two days ago and the status changed at that time to "Preparing to Ship"

Still not shipped though, and the ETA is still that same June timeline, so it must be a glitch on Apple's end when they changed the status to Preparing to Ship?

Kinda sucky to raise hopes like that, but it will probably go back to Processing or stays at Preparing to Ship until June...

What was the memory configuration on the Mac? That also plays a part in the ship date. It could have been that Apple already had that particular configuration in the warehouse so it wouldn’t be a complete BTO.

This was the config:

  • Apple M1 Max chip with 10-core CPU, 32-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine
  • 64GB unified memory
  • 2TB SSD storage
(Still "Preparing to ship", we'll check it on Monday if it's still that, but reasonably seems unlikely they are truly shipping it, others have been waiting much longer and even this one's delivery date still says June 6 - June 20.)

Order placed March 20th.

Processing. Delivery estimate April 28 - May 5.

16 inch Space Grey M1 Max 24 core 32 GB / 512 GB.

I've ordered a 14-inch MacBook Pro with M1 Pro 10-core CPU and 16-core GPU, 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD. On sale at Costco and they seem to have it in stock. Ordered on Friday April 22 and I should have it Tuesday April 26.

That is one of the more common BTO options so it could already be stateside. When the email comes for it being shipped, check the tracking number to see where the origin city is. It could make it earlier than expected.

Another thing that will cause dates to slip again: it was reported that there have been 39 COVID deaths in Shanghai, and the way that China is handling it is by doubling down on their hard lockdowns. They are going as far as putting up fences around the homes of infected people to keep them isolated.

With that happening, all dates for Macs that haven’t already left China are going to slip.

Waiting on a 16" Max with 8Tb SSD ordered 5 weeks ago - no chance of getting a refurb! Just had expected delivery of 25th April - 3rd May change to 16th - 29th June. This is actually the same date as if I ordered today.

Apple support say I'm still in the queue based on my original order and they are giving long windows automatically. We shall see.

Mine ordered yesterday says June 13-27, 16" Max with 64GB & 8TB SSD... I guess I should expect it even later? :( I could deal with 4TB instead I guess but since this is an investment I feel like I should just be patient.. hard tho
Exact spec as mine. I'm in the UK.

Now that AppleCare+ can be extended on an annual basis in certain countries after the initial 3 years expires (till Apple no longer supports that device) I figure I'll aim to keep it as long as possible.
