What size screen MacBook Pro (2021) did you order?

Another good find is on Apple's website for the MacBook Pro. They've managed to take screenshots which don't have the notch obviously, but they created an asset of a MacBook Pro that overlays the notch on their own screenshots. Wild the lengths Apple goes through.

It's not as nefarious as I think you are implying it is.

Screenshots from my iPhone don't display the notch either. Building assets this way allows them to have the Mac scroll into view with the screen-shot images fading in independently; I bet the iMac screen-shots images are separate from the iMac case images despite it having a regular bezel. Thats just something they do a lot on the site.

Ok so I guess going by Costco it’s base models AND the other preconfigured models, so the 10/16 1 tb 14 inch (which I’m going for), and the 16 inch Max, as well as the 16 inch 10/16 1 tb

Reactions: beach bum
So I ordered a 14" 10/16 32gb 1TB on Monday but "just" to hold my place in line while I debated with myself whether or not I actually needed a new computer or just wanted a shiny new MBP.

To be totally honest I really want it more than I need it, but I'm going to keep the order anyway 🤣. Delivery date is 11/5-11/10 right now. Honestly getting pretty excited, my current MacBook Pro is the first generation 15" Touch Bar model so it's been a while since I got a new Mac that wasn't issued by my employer!

@TheYayAreaLiving why is the title 'USA & Other Countries Only'? If it's USA & other countries isn't that just... everywhere?
Good question. I put 'USA and Other Countries" because I don't think there is a thread for the people in Germany, UAE - Dubai, Australia and so on...

The other countries does not include UK because they have their own thread.

Does that make sense? or should I change it to "USA only"?

Any idea whether there is any chance these come in earlier??

I think you should leave it as is. This is the all inclusive group where everyone is welcome. 😁

I get Ultimate's point because "only" makes sense if you were saying something like "USA and UK only", "..and other countries" means world-wide and therefore doesnt really need to mention countries at all.
So, should I put "USA & Other countries"? Remove the only part?

Well I mean it's all semantics here, it's just if you say 'USA & other countries' (with none specified) and then say 'only' it doesn't make sense, because you've already included all countries. If you say 'USA only' that makes sense, or 'USA & other countries' makes sense too. Maybe, if the UK is the only other separate thread it could be 'USA & all countries besides the U.K.'? But I realize that's a little wordy. And exclusive. Really I think everyone should just be in one thread if we're already going to mix countries in here anyway.

Gazelle has always worked foe me (cash). Then there is Apple, Amazon and Best Buy trade-in programs that will offer a gift certificate.
I am going to check them out, thank you sooooo much!

Check with Cash For Your Mac (www.cashforyourmac.com), they’re the trade in division of Quality Macs (www.qualitymacs.com), a long time and very highly rated Apple reseller with a retail store here in San Diego. I’ve been selling my used Apple gear to them for many years and they always have given competitive offers coupled with amazing service. I can at least personally attest to them.

I love your Username!
Awesome, thank you too! Truly appreciate you guys taking the time to respond. Ya'll are great!

I will have to do my due diligence and research all avenues for the best bang for the buck.

(my apologies if I missed thanking anyone - darn work)

Good point but I don't want to throw shades at UK thread, LOL! I think the title makes sense? It's for people in the USA and anyone outside of the USA (Other countries). I didn't wanted to put "Excluding UK". That sounds controversial, LOL

Lol, I don’t know why people don’t like him. He will be missed. You’ll see.

Btw, do you know who his replacement is?
I'm confident he didn't get replaced. I think he quit Apple because he hit the ceiling in terms of how much he can get paid (and that he wanted to work with Ferrari), as a contractor there's no limit. The proof is you can't find any info on VP of industrial design on Apple's leadership page. Apple has no problem paying him because he is Apple in a way, and Apple was the LoveFrom's first customer so the relationship ended amicably.

In terms of the change in design choices (the re-adding of ports, better thermal efficiency, removing the touch bar), I think that these are just things that Apple reversed on because they made the wrong bets; they thought USB-C was gonna take over, that didn't happen, they trusted intel to keep it's processors in check, that didn't happen, and they thought people and developers would like and utilize the touch bar, and they missed the mark on that one too.

The proof the Ive's design identity still exists is this: Apple's new design language started with the 2019 Mac Pro, Ive was still Chief Design Officer. That language carried on to the new iMac, and now the new MacBook Pro. The obsession with thinness is still there, because they keep bringing it up. And the new MacBook Pro is in similar thickness to 2016 models. I'm willing to bet that as Apple Silicon gets more and more efficient, we'll see them going thinner and smaller again, although without repeating past mistakes.

As an engineer myself, it bothers me when people think that Ive had no one to keep him in check (hardware engineering, software engineering, product designer, etc.) We're always testing the limit as much as we can, squeezing as much juice as we can. So the thin designs were a decision made by all of Apple leadership, especially considering Tim's philosophy that people should be in agreement, as opposed to Steve's where he encouraged disagreements

Fair point… thank you.

How does it look now? Does this sounds better?
