derajfast said:wow thats fantastic news.....can yuo tell me the settings you are using to encode? i usually do 2pass encoding, 1000 bit rate, h264 on my powerbook and get like 5fps tops, and around 15-19 on my 1.8gh g5 imac
i thought the handbrake build for x86 was only beta and not yet optimized?
please let me know your settings and stuff, either here or PM me
thanks
jermsmingy said:I'm encoding these for my ipod so I use h.264 at 768kbps (this is the max you can do), 2 pass encoding, default audio, and I resize the picture to 320 x 240. This look great not only on the ipod, but also on tv. This is the highest setting you can do for h.264 and it still work on your ipod. If you want even faster encoding you can use these settings with mp4, but the compression isn't as good as h.264
radian23 said:I don't have an MBP but i have a very similar problem with my dell 600m (and many others). When its quite sometimes i can hear a weird buzzing sound but when i scroll a page or click it stops buzzing and when i'm where i want it starts again. Maybe apple gets there parts from the same place as dell
Wouldn't that be nice

I have had the machine lock up on me once: I was in Front Row when I hooked up my DVI -> RCA/Svideo adapter. It sat in front row and wouldn't let me exit. I could get to dashboard but couldn't command+tab or force quit front row.
I almost wonder if it is because I had an "evaluation" version of front row on the powerbook that I pulled everything from, but I doubt it.
Ended up powering it down to get it back![]()

If you read my sig you would see that, yes, I do own a 17" PB G4. The side and top are close enough that it looks like a uniform border. Not so with the MacBook. Its distracting just like the huge bottom is on the iMacs.derajfast said:sometimes you people just complain for the sake of complaining.....how does it being any bigger make it worse? seriously. and to say that you appreciated the same size of the screen borders on the older PBooks....do you own one? you do know that the sides are certainly thicker than the top border, or are you just trying to find something to complain about?.....i think its the latter
