Parallels Workstation on MacBook?

I remember reading something about the Parallels Workstation not working on the Intel Mac Minis or not work as well (something like that) because of a difference in the chip set. Is there any reason why the MacBooks won't be able to run the Parallels Workstation (in other words, Windows in a Virtual Window)?

Thanks.

You won't be saying that again once you discover that you can't plug in a regular microphone. You'll be paying extra bucks to get your iChat working. Evenmore since there is no built in microphone. May I point out to all prospective buyers of the macbook the following product: SL-8850 UltraPortable Audio Card USB. It is about €/$14.

Who says there's no built-in mic, there clearly is if you look at the pictures.

Let it begin

Now that the MacBooks have seen the light of day. Let the rumors for the WWDC BEGIN!!! :D :D :D

This is very disappointing. Stupid magnet gadgets. Widescreen (for what?). No PCCMIA slot. So back to IBM et al it is.

Tit!

Magsafe rocks
Widescreen is the best thing to happen to displays since colour
iBooks have never had any card slots

Bye! Mind the door doesn't hit your ass on the way out!

Glossy screen!?!??!

I hope this is not the direction for the future - glossy screens are terrible under artificial lighting. And the glossy look, IMO, really reduces the apparent detail level of the screen.

These alone would stop me buying the laptop - which otherwise is very well specced - and the option for glossy on the MBPro really gets me nervous about Apple's direction here. Glossy are no good for doing REAL work on.

Just spoke to my local store. It seems that the black is a matte finish and not a glossy finish. That should releave some of the fingerprint and scratch concerns.

I also asked him about the integrated graphics his response was..."All i know is that we have installed a high end graphic game on it this morning and it seems to work just fine." Again this is by no means a gaming machine, but its at least comforting to know that the option is there for the occasional World of Warcraft while on the road.

I am thinking of going for black one, yes I know I am a sucker but....the matte finish...ohh so nice...

And yes the store has them in stock... Short Hills NJ

The product comparison page shows that the MacBook has a microphone. The tech specs don't include it because it's an expected part of iSight.

There is no microphone listed in the tech specs for the Macbook, but there are on the tech spec page for the Macbook Pro. But the Mackbook rocks regurardless, eventhough i prefer the pro. 1099 aint bad for all those features.

Black Keys Will Be More Visible In Low Light. There is a very good design reason not to offer backlit keyboards in this model - HEAT. :)

Backlit keys in this size computer would generate significantly higher heat levels than this size can support.

Are you serious? How do you know they generate heat? I thought they were using some sort of LED/fiber optic type system that used little energy and therefore little heat.

Let me know where the find the specs on the heat generated by the keyboard backlight.

Oh and I really don't see how black keys are more visible in low light.

Refurbished Macbook Pro Price Drop

FYI, refurbished macbook pros have dropped $100 in price, now starting at $1599. Reason to go pro?

So about how long before these are in CompUSA? I've already called the CompUSA in Tallahassee and they had no clue what I was talking about. They thought I was talking about the MBP, but I guess that's expected since this machine is so new. But does anyone know about how long it usually takes? I'm getting the White 2.0 one and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Wow! The price is right on these (except the black premium; what's up with that? I think that will change).

Everything's pretty much what I excepted except the CPUs are awesome! All dual core 1.83 on the low end!

Really, when you look at what they've packed into these guys over the G4 iBook, it is amazing. These are sweeeet

Parallels workstation works great on Mac minis, even on the Core Solo one.

Optical in/out - nice.
Analog in/out too in the same ports so you can easily add an external analog microphone as well.

core-duo processors, up to 2gb of ram, 1280 by 800 resolution, extended desktop mode, at a starting price of 1,099 I gotta say this is pretty sweet.
Nothing to complain about really.
