Anyone know the the integrated graphics will be able to run the upcoming Command and Conquer 3? Thats one of the only PC games I want.

Will upgrade with 3rd party ram. Wanted the superdrive.. but cant justify the extra for black.

sadly more powerful than my 1.5 year old $2300 20inch imac...ugh im not a fan of quick upgrades. my computer doesnt even have resale value now:(

Just chiming in another request for anyone who is able to go take a look at the new keyboard in person? :D

Mmm, I'm a little disappointed by the weight. But everything else looks pretty good. I don't know that I'm in a hurry to run off and buy one, but it looks good.

EDIT: P.S. enough with the retardery...the comparison page clearly states that there's an omni mic. Why on Earth would Apple release the MacBook with an iSight and no microphone?

Look great

If I didn't already have a 2.0 duo core macbook pro, I'd be very happy to have saved the $700 to get the 2.0 white MacBook. Video RAM, screen size, and Express card slot don't mean that much to me.

Those look like great machines at good prices.

Bought!

Put money down on the MacBook, white 2.0 Ghz. let's hope it comes soon. says 6-8 days. we'll see, we'll see. :)

6 hours of battery isn't that great
and it is even more heavy than the iBook ! (2.36kg :O)

check this out, 15hours of battery life and 1.27kg, beat that !

so disappointed....

That's two completely different types of notebooks. You can compare the MacBook to a subnotebook that's several hundred dollars more expensive. If you want a subnotebook, buy a subnotebook, the MacBook is NOT a subnotebook...simple as that.

Wow a better portable than most of Dell's offerings in price and specs...
plus it runs Windows, Linux, and OS X.

Is there any reason not to buy it?

WTF? No Black Front Row remote

I am not buying a black macbook until they release a black Front Row remote (sarcasim) :p I am sure some one will say this

No Comparison

Yeah, but it's only driving a 12" screen, its a Centrino Core Solo at 1.06 GHz, 1 speaker, and, uh, where's the optical drive?

Typical Panasonic construction dictates the light wieght (translation=p o o r).

Gee, but it does have a 56K modem.

I really want to buy one of these! My only concern is whether or not the shipper Apple uses will leave it at my house without a signature (which is fine with me) because I'm never home during the day.

Very nice update Apple. Easily the best "value" laptop ever from them.

Analog in/out too in the same ports so you can easily add an external analog microphone as well.Yes You Can. Audio ports are DUAL Optical/Analog.No you won't. Yes there is a built in microphone. In fact it's better than ever immediately to the left of the camera. Thanks for your informed opinion.
Well since everyone is falling over my over-hasty comment. Let me clarify. Apparently there is a built in microphone (as pointed out by cal6n). And for your information, I have a mac mini and just bought the aforementioned product. The Mac line-in requires a voltage on the connection, so regular microphones won't work on it.

Again my bad for assuming that there was no microphone on the macbook, because it is not specified on the tech specs page, while it is explicitly specified on the macbook pro tech specs page.

Ok, now I'm not happy. Not about the new MacBooks, but the fact that the Apple Store here mislead me about their availability. I called them and the lady on the phone told me they were recieving them now, with the implication that I could come down and buy one now. Instead, I got here to find that they probably won't be putting them out until the end of the day, which means I can't buy one now. Yeah, it's safe to say that I'm pissed.

Backlit keys in this size computer would generate
significantly higher heat levels than this size can support.

Yeah, cause a couple LED's generate SOOO much heat...

The black MacBook is STUPID. Do NOT buy it. I'd NEVER buy it in black. My PSP which is small is bad enough. A black Macbook is just a much bigger fingerprint magnet that will show all microscratches no matter how small. And a $200 premium for fingerprints? In my opinion they should have had an aluminum Macbook instead of the stupid black Macbook and charged the $200 premium there. That would also fill in the hole of the 12" Powerbook.

Good Update...

I am glad to see that Apple did not do anything too spectacular to launch these things... this is was a simple update folks. Nothing totally new or innovative... just an update. We now have Intel iBooks with a screen that is actually usable.

Now that the MacBooks have seen the light of day. Let the rumors for the WWDC BEGIN!!! :D :D :D

A friend of my 2nd cousins dog walker said that he saw a new slightly smaller powermac tower through the front window of apples top secret lab (he walked down the wrong street) Ended up in Cueprtino from Australia. Apparently it is dubbed the Mac pro. He says the specs which had blown out the open window during a freak gust listed this

Quad Core Intel 3.2 Ghz (2X2)
2 GB DDR2 Ram
250GB HD
x1900xt graphics 512
SuperDooperDrive (BluRay)
$3299

Dual Core 3.2 Ghz
1GB DDR2
250GB HD
x1600XT graphics 512
SuperDrive (option of SuperDooperDrive) $499
$2199

Dual Core 3Ghz
1GB DDR2
160GB
x1600XT 256
SuperDrive (option of SuperDooperDrive) $499
$1599

So here we have it the Mac Pro
The rough writing suggested the catch phrase would be
"Twice the power, in half the tower"
