y does apple consistently stick with the single click under the track pad, when will they give us a right click ??

You *can* right-click using the trackpad itself, tapping with one finger gives you a left click, whereas tapping using two fingers gives you a right click - works amazingly well!

Just ordered a white 2.0ghz/1gb ram/100gb MB online.

Then I went to the local Apple Store (Edina, MN) and had this experience:

...
Me: "Hi, do you have the new MacBooks in?"
Sales: "No, not yet. We should get them by the 23rd."
Me: "Oh, well, they are so fantastic."
Sales: "Most people are waiting to use them in person before buying. And, they're new, and it is Apple, so there are bound to be problems."
Me: "Well, I already bought one. I was just hoping I could get one here sooner."
Sales: *Shocked look* "You BOUGHT one, without even trying it out?"
Me: "Yes."
Sales: *Condescending look* "That's the bleeding edge."
Me: "Yeah, well, I've been using Macs for 20 years, so I think I know what I'm getting in to. And Asus (mfr of the Macbooks) is rated of the highest quality."
Sales: "Well, be careful."
...

Personally, I think he was a Windows user who was just trying to sink Apple from the inside. Ridiculous.

Anyway, I'm really excited about my MacBook! The black finish wasn't worth the extra $150 to me - it just looked like those old PowerBook Blackbirds or the latest Dell laptop, except with a shiny Apple logo.

Supposedly I'll have it by the end of the month. Awesome.

looks like it does have a right click then... have you seen it or are you just presuming?

I would assume the speakers are under the computer (a la high-end Dell laptops). As seen in the picture link I posted, the mic is indeed next to the iSight, and it seems the keyboard is slightly recessed - as to prevent key marking on the screen (big problem with previous iBook models). Fantastic.

Where are the speakers?

They are probably located on the back like the PB 12". The idea is to bounce the sound off the screen (or on the surface in the case of the iMac)

Open University students?

Are "open university" students in the UK (i.e. those who are in higher education studying for a degree with the Open University, but not at a full time university) able to ring up apple (since they wont have campus access to this area of the site) and get the discounts on the macbook with the Higher Education discount? Since they are at higher education studying for a degree.

Just wondering if anyone has managed to who is an OU student.

Cheers

Happy about the black. Not happy about the Intel shared graphics adapter, the mini-DVI port, or the porky weight (5.2 pounds). Overall good, finally glad to see the iBook put out to pasture.

Wow...I wonder how the strength/"rattle-ability" is? I wouldn't want it accidentally coming open.

HERE ARE YOUR TRUE HIGH-QUALITY MB PICS

The keyboard looks WONDERFUL - and Apple really outdid themselves with the black model - they even color-coded the interior USB pin and firewire pin (look closely) :D
is it just me or does the keyboard look funny? It looks like the keys are much more spaced out then the 12 inchers. Is this due to the wider display and there fore wider space the key board needed to cover?

Mersen referred to the case, not to the screen. The black Macbook is indeed matte with a glossy screen.

O.K.

So, does that mean that the outer case is matte as well?

It would be nice if the computer's outer finnish was also scratch resistant. By this, I mean the areas that are exposed when you have it closed and are carrying it.
