Anybody try running Final Cut on one of these MacBooks?

Perform a search on this thread. You'll find that people are running FC Pro with no problem, as well as Aperture. ;)

This notebook is by far the best deal of an Apple notebook ever! ;)

I want one SO!

Yupp it would be very cool :p But I guess that would make the MacBook more expensive :p

The graphics, come on, I mean sure it is maybe cheaper with this but come on a videocard should be standard for laptops now.

A videocard is anything BUT standard in the PC world. Even on desktop PCs.

The point is that in consumer-level items, most people don't care about game performance, because a nice graphics card costs lots of $.

All Apple needs to do is introduce a 13.3" MBP to give portability and performance in one. But the MacBook is blazing fast for 80% of users - which is what really matters, isn't it?

jeez and a couple dozen more while I was typing

Question for any of the owners: Anyone have a iPhoto library with say 5000 photos or more? If so, how quick is iPhoto to open, scale, launch a slide show, etc.?

oHHHHHHH YES i JUST GOT HOME FROM WORK AND WOOOO THE MACBOOK FAINALLY!

I will wait till they Memrons arein them though. I definately will be buying one though.

Could anyone actually belive that it would get a 1.83 ghZ and 2.0 ghZ Intel Core Processor? Many of us thought it would get Intel Core Solo (not me thought), 1.67 ghZ or something but this is awesome!
I didnt at all. But I really thot there was an option for dedicated gpu so that it completely replaces pb12"

I wish I could find a reason for a 15 y/o who already has a perfectly working G5 iMac to add on a MB, but not many come up Any reasons from you? Does going to an all PC school matter at all?

How does a Core Duo compare to a P4 at 3 GHz?

I did search, and Leemo was the only user to say he was using Aperture.
Quite frankly, I don't believe that Aperture will even install much less run on these new MacBooks.
I asked for pics for that as well and no response.

And, I'm still waiting to see if anyone has tried running Final Cut yet.

I'm typing this on a white 2.0ghz MacBook. From the bit I've used it so far, it's a wonderful little machine. The keyboard takes just a little getting used to, but has very good feedback for a notebook deck and is pretty comfortable.

Two finger scrolling and right-clicking is really handy.

I dont think a merom with GMA will really do wonders though. And you might have to wait till Jan then So as a poster said couple of days ago "WAIT AT YOUR OWN RISK"

Oh sh#t. It was me only.:D

Also since the processors are already top ones(ie i.83 and 2.0) it only makes it even less likely to have meroms in MB any time soon.

ok i def just saw a glitch on the apple site and i dont know if it was a "leak" or what but it listed the iBook next to the PowerMac. I saw it and I was slightly confused....so I refreshed the page and it was gone.....maybe apple is keeping it around for a little bit (like the old rumors said)?

The ibook is also still available for sale in Apple's online Education store.

thanks for the update on installing a HD. it's so nice that we don't have to pry open the casing to install a HD anymore...can you tell us how long it took for you to complete the HD install? thanks.
I did it when I installed memory, so it was as simple as pulling on the tab of the drive caddy to get the drive out, remove four T-8 screws, then put the drive caddy (very thin, flimsy metal) back on the new drive, install the 4 drive screws, then slide the HD back in. Then put the RAM cover back on (3 philips screws), put battery back in, and done. If you were just doing the hard drive alone, I'd say 5 minutes tops.

I actually have two 7200RPM SATA drives (Hitachi and Seagate) and one 100GB 5400rpm drive (Hitachi) which I am going to test and see which I want to keep and then will ebay the others.

Loving this machine! The keyboard feels fantastic, I love typing with it!

Very impressed with the speed of the machine (2ghz white one) even though it's only got the standard 512mb of ram. Despite the ram Final Cut Pro runs very nicely, and I shall be sticking 2gb in at the earliest opportunity!

I wanted a nice notebook to replace my iMac, and this is going to do *very* nicely!

Pics of Pro Apps running please. :)

They do. It's called the MacBook Pro.

Apple doesn't offer 7 or 8 different notebook lines, and this is the price of a specialty computer company. You can't cover all the bases with 3 notebooks. As with everything, buy what suits your needs. Sometimes that ends up not being an Apple, and that's okay.

Yes, we know this. But some of us want a high end notebook with a 13.3" screen not a 15.4". Either apple needs to make a macbook pro in this size or make the macbooks better.

Intel iMac is getting underpowered vs Intel Laptops

Comparing the last PB G4 to the last iMac G5. The iMac was much more capable ...
Comparing the MB Pro to the Intel iMac there is not much difference ...
And now the MacBooks are bitting iMac's tail ...

iMacs should be much better than they are now compared to the laptops

Yeah, I'm sensing an iMac update soon.

My sister has a Dell 700m and it has a glossy screen. I just took it outside to test to see how bad it is outside and it really isn't. It's fairly bright outside (6pm EST) and it's still usable. While it looks better inside than out, it's nothing to really worry about. :)

Few owners are yet to answer this question. DOES IT WHINE?

Quit your whining.

Several people have responded that it in fact does not whine, and it does not suffer from the same heat problems as the MBP. (However, it is relatively hot, according to AppleInsider.)

Well, the iMacs do have the second and third fastest chips available right now. Beyond taking them to the fastest, did you have anything else in mind?
