mdavria does your new MacBook have this option?
  • Open System preferences
  • Click on Keyboard and mouse
  • Choose the trackpad tab
  • Under trackpad gestures place a check mark next to "place two fingers on trackpad and click button for secondary click"

It certainly does. And I just turned that option on. Did not have that with my G3 iBook

Actually unless its in direct sunlight, the black should in theory keep cooler, as black dissipates (sp?) heat more efficiently... not saying it will make any difference whatsoever though!

Are you sure that's not the other way round?

wearing a black t-shirt or driving round in a black car with black interior in summer is like taking a spin in a microwave.

Heh. The glare is not as bad with the screen on. Besides, I needed natural light to get good pictures (blame my terrible camera).

Hmmmm.....

That's very interesting gedto. Good nerdy fact. In US Cubic Inches that is:

12.1" iBook = 181.36 cu. in.
13.3" MacBook = 123.12 cu.in.

58.24 fewer cubic inches 67.88% the volume of the iBook  :)

Almost One Third Smaller Volume - Amazing. More In Less.

That can't be. No matter how many times you change units, the proportion must keep the same. The MacBook is roughly 90% the 12'' iBook's volume. Therefore, either you converted wrong that units, or you miscalculated the proportion.

Of course, if this wasn't mentioned, the pixel count on the old iBook was 786,432 compared to the Macbook's 1.024 million. This means the PPI is much higher. Don't want anyone to get the wrong impression.

Graphics card

Well,

I WARN the guys who r thinking the integrated graphics is OK. I have a ****** hp with the more ****** intel 915 128 mb card. U know u can only doo office work or play games of 1999.

I'm sure u not going to able apply some of the imovies effects if u would it ll takeeeeee u so muchhh time.

I m not an antiapple. I would like to swith to mac but pro is expensive for me right now. and this macbook looks nice but in my opinion only fits to beginners

Black absorbes heat, white reflects. That's why the icecream truck is white.

Does anyone know how an app like Vue or Bryce would perform on a integrated graphics card? Does it matter if I have of have not a dedicated card, and if yes, how much?

I'm torn between a 17" iMac and the 2Ghz MacBook...

you are correct mark... black absorbs heat... white reflects it...

Edit: Damn you norm! beat me by seconds!

Wrong.
12.1" iBook = 136.75 cu. in
13.3" MacBook = 123.75 cu. in
That's only 13 fewer cubic inches, mainly due to the fact it's much thinner than the iBook, but 2 inches wider.

Maybe I have a lemon - 1.83GHz. I noticed the whine after a software update. Not sure whether that's the cause.

I haven't updated the software yet. Has anyone else had a problem with this? Let me know before I update everything.

Intel GMA...LET THE WHINING BEGIN!! ;)

Anyway, the GMA 950 with Core Duo is MUCH BETTER than the Radeon 9200 with G4...there is no comparison in terms of performance...I would've preferred dedicated GPU, but this is MacBook...the only similar offering from Sony is much more expensive, with a hybrid GPU system...

GMA 950 is okay for now, but if anyone is thinking about running Vista with DX10 via BootCamp, they will have to wait for the GMA 965 chipset. Also, I do not understand why they couldn't have at least put in an ATI Rad 1300 or 1400 with Hypermemory so that the system memory isn't taxed as much. I wouldn't want to run Windows via VMWare alongside OS X without at least 1.5 G(i)B RAM.

What version of OSX did yours come with? 10.4.6?

The screen is not as bright with the grey apple up. Here is a better idea of the glare (or lack thereof) when working next to a window with bright sunlight.

I need to get my songs off my ipod onto my new MacBook. What should I download for this. I think I used one called iPod Rip or something, but I'm not sure if that's the best one or not.

I'm wondering what you think about when the best time to buy the MacBook would be. I'll need it for university next year, starting in September and am anxious to get it. I dont really need it over the summer. Does apple work out bugs and silently fix them? Is it better to wait until I absolutely need it than to buy now just because I'm impatient..?
