The black color $200 extra is not expensive, compared to getting it from colorwarepc.

It is more expensive for Apple to sell different colors. Of course they plan to make money on the black color. But it is no loss to those buying the white ones.

So if you don't want to pay extra, get the white one. It's the same with cars. Some paint jobs are extra.

I can confirm that, I just went to the Apple store today.. and they had 2 models on display..the black and the white one. The black one looks good, but you could see fingerprints all over it, the case, the trackpad..even the keys!

The white on the other hand, looked absolutely beautiful. I would pick the white one over the black one anyday. Sure, you could buy the black one.. but then if you were picky like me.. you'd be polishing it everyday! :D

For some odd reason, the macbook seemed faster than a macbook pro right next to it.. they were the same specs.. could be that the macbook pro had a lot of stuff on it.. and the macbook didn't? Lots of variables.. but it was just weird :p

yeah thats the ONLY reason i wont be getting the black one...sucks huh.

I was all set to order folks. But upon glancing at the Refurbished page from the Apple Store Online http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP...woa/wo/5.RSLID?mco=26403331&nclm=SpecialDeals

MacBook Pro's for $1599!!!!!!!!
15.4-inch TFT display with 1440x900 resolution
1.83GHz Intel Core Duo with 2MB shared L2 Cache
667MHz frontside bus
512MB (single SO-DIMM) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
80GB 5400rpm Serial ATA hard drive
Slot-load SuperDrive (DVD±RW/CD-RW)
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 128MB GDDR3 memory

I was going to buy the new MacBook, with additional ram and hardrive to 80gb for about $1449
2.0GHz Intel Core Duo
1GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x512
80GB Serial ATA drive

So for only $150 more, I went for the MacBook Pro. Eventually running Motion at some point is important to me. I hope the techs fixed those bugs.
Brilliant Find - Way To Go Adam! Smooth Move. :p

I dunno as well. People are getting lazier.

It's not about laziness. Some of us just have a lot to log around and are disappointed Apple didn't make an ultraportable notebook.

For those who keep pointing out that this is a consumer/prosumer computer and not a pro, that is true, BUT, it is also replacing the PB 12! So Apple ditched its most portable pro system and replaced it with a heavier machine...

These reports from people that the keys stick has me worried. According to AppleInsider, the "keyboard is built-in as part of the MacBook's enclosure. Users who damage a key or two could find themselves having to replace the notebook's entire bottom casing and trackpad."

Although the new keyboard looks nice, the problems with them already makes me think this new keyboard was a stupid idea. Apple should have just stuck to the old style, or at least made it not a part of the whole freakin MacBook enclosure. Stupid stupid stupid.

Guess I'll wait until Rev. B or C before getting one.
yet another instance of a few random reports of isolated problems leading people to the conclusion that the world is ending...

what gave you the idea that apple was ever going to produce an ultraportable laptop? although the 12" PB was small, it still wasn't an ultraportable in the same sense that sony has...i suppose apple doesn't feel the need to produce one...but maybe they will...who knows

Macbook Thin?

For all those who have lost faith in Apple for not putting a graphics card in the macbook there might be something on the horizon... well according to Macosrumors anyhow. They predict a Macbook Thin and a Gamers Macbook (they are as their names suggest). Anyhow, if you are interested go through their rumors pages on it. They are unreliable and their website sucks but, damn can they spin a good rumor! http://www.macosrumors.com

macbook is SOOOOO quiet

just got my 1.83 macbook today

has anyone else noticed how quiet it is?

i cannot get the fans going for anything.. finally got them to kick on hard when i opened every application i could find.
heat is not even an issue. the only heat i felt was from the charging battery. the rest was quickly dissipated

i hope everyone else is having similar experiences

Typing on my new MacBook 2.0 white. I picked it up from the Glendale Apple store here in Los Angeles.

No dead pixels, stuck keys, whine, or ANY other other issues to report. If anything, the "loudest" key on the board is the space bar. I hope THIS isn't a defect! Besides that, it's silent. Heck, the crickets outside my window are louder than the laptop. Oh, and this screen is bright and beautiful, unlike my previous 12" PB.

Gotta go....time to take dirty pictures of myself with Photo Booth!!! :p

To properly calibrate the battery, I should let the battery die on its own without any charge or connection, correct?

They also swore blind that it would be called an iBook. Don't believe a word they say. Sorry.

Yes, Whether or not that's after a full charge I'm not really sure. You don't have to do it right away but when a few days to a week is best.

EDIT: Check Apple's battery page

Im glad the black one is more, it makes it more exclusive. The Black MacBook will be my next computer, and it will be nice to have somthing more unique.

You don't want to see any of the other colors that will be coming out? Surely, mac users don't just see black & white.:) And don't call me Sherly.:)

FCP doesn't support integrated graphics

If Final Cut Pro doesn't support integrated graphics, then how come I've been using it all evening on my spanky new MacBook?

Runs like a charm!
