Apple no longer states that the MacBook has an IR receiver and they don't mention Front Row! :eek:

This Macbook update is completely stupid: You get a regular Macbook for 1000$ when most of the other PC brand have become way more cheaper and more powerful in thinnier and thinner machines, and If you wan't a "Pro" Macbook, that is just a FW and SD slot, a retrolit keyboard and 2GB more, you just have to pay 500$ more !

Lack of FW

Personally, I only use FW for mantainance purposes. Now I can take the HD out of the laptop an put it into a FW enclosure.

This is something I wouldn´t do with my iBook just for kicks ;-)
 
so can anyone please point out the advantage of the mac book pro to me besides the sd-slot and the alum case obvs cuz i just compared and it doesnt rly make sense to get the MBP imo

new Mac Book (989 Euro)

> 250 GB HDD, 2.26 GHz, 4 GB DDR3 RAM

Mac Book Pro (1.149 Euro)

> 160 GB HDD, 2.26 GHz, 2 GB DDR2 RAM
 
PEOPLE! The MBP was updated in June . Of course the MB is going to look better spec wise the damn thing was updated today. Seriously? ughhhhh
 
I just bought my wife a 13" MBP. I can't stand that fugly white plastic case that looks like it belongs in a toy store. Reminds me of that Legally Blond chic.

then they should have considered dropping the price of the last-june-updated MBP if the specs r worse than the new MB and priced this one even less ;) to have the MBP still be the "elite"
 
wow, i like the unibody style macbook, i think i will pick up one of these baby when my white macbook support ends, uMBP are overrated. ;)

i like the matching white keyboard with the body.
 
Yesterdays tech at tomorrows tech prices

Well the title pretty much sums it up, I can't believe how much they are milking the C2D.

My current macbook that is now 2 years old is nearly the same specs, give or take, and was £100 cheaper when I got it. Which at the time was maybe a little more expensive than other notebooks, but to me seemed good value, but I cannot find the value in these notebooks, and don't get me started about loosing FW.

Hopefully when I need to upgrade, the 13" MBP will actually have a processor and GPU that is an upgrade, rather than a little speed bump.

Some of the other features look nifty, I'm just glad I grabbed my current macbook when I did, it seems more of a good deal after every refresh.

Why should they? MBP is still a good buy it's lighter,thinner, more durable, SD slot, backlit. That alone will make me want to fork over an extra $200 now.

I wonder if they actually have any kind of checks for the schools one... seen as I can get onto it here it seems like anyone can order there. Guess that's why they give lower discounts. If it wasn't for the higher education one needing you to be on the network I'd have ordered one by now. Would rather not mess around ordering one over the phone.

And the number of consumers that actually know what target disk mode/FW/a gpu from a toaster are......

You guys seem to forget that we are the geeks here with actual technical knowledge. Apples customer base we are not.

because it's a consumer notebook and Apple wants to make a clear defining line between the Macbook and the MBP something that has been hard to do ever since the release of the black MB
