MacBook speedbump this Tuesday
MacBook Pro release next Tuesday
iPhone SDK (event?) the following Tuesday

this makes sense to me, and is the most likely scenario.

apple's macworld mantra was 50 more weeks to go....

keeping in line with some form of product release every week or so since then. there is no reason to release two products on one tuesday and steal your own fanfare (and get half as much free press/publicity) ;)

Too many places online have stock of all notebook models (both MacBook and MacBook Pro) for new models anytime soon.

Maybe two models of MacBook Air at cheaper prices? Make a small screen model that would be more portable and sell it for less.

I think it makes more sense to release both the Macbook and MBP at the same time, if, that is, they update both with the multi touch pad. Why would they update only one of them with the multi touch pad, and wait for the other? Plus, two is always better than one. Especially for those who are still deciding between which of the two to buy, and can't decide because they want the newer one with better parts, yet don't wan't to spend the price. Otherwise, tomorrow will always tell. Cross your fingers for the MBP! :)

:apple:

Both will look the exact same (unfortunately no pretty new colors), although they will feature upgraded processors, additional memory, and the lovely multitouch trackpad that is featured on the Air.

What does that mean? 4GB RAM standard base minimum? Or does "memory" refer to HDD capacity?

That makes even less sense and absolutely wont happen. Wouldn't "cheaper" air models be introduced at the event where the Air was front and center? Also, Steve lambasted ultra portable laptops because of their small screen.... It is clear from MacWorld that Apple believes 13.3 inch screens are the ideal, small form factor. Steve has been hypocritical, but never within two months of him introducing something :)

How can the MacBooks get a speed bump? The top tier MacBook already has the same processor as the entry level MBP. Does it make sense to have a MB that is faster than the Pro? I don't think so. If it is an update and not accompanied by a MBP update, I'm guessing only a trackpad change.

Yeah, that seems more likely.

The only thing bad about this is that I bought a MacBook in January. Dang.

I bought a Macbook with the combo drive last friday night for my parents. Was busy and haven't broken the seal yet. I'll wait until tomorrow, just in case (bought it from the local Apple store).

Nice if there was a speed bump, plus the multi-touch.

My understanding is that the MacBook Air has not sold up to expectations and is on its way to being another cube (overpriced and poorly positioned).

I considered buying one, but for just a little bit more, you can have the low end MacBook Pro which has so much more bang for the buck.

I bet Apple is scrambling to try to position this model better. As for upgrades to the other notebooks, I don't remember ever seeing them introduce models with every model in stock at the bigger online retailers (Amazon, MacMall, Apple Store, etc.) so if we do see new models tomorrow, I don't think they will replace existing models.

Everyone may go to bed now

Here you go.
Apple will release a MacBook and MacBook Pro sometime after tonight.

I think I know why we have all this confusion about what Apple is releasing on Tuesday. Apple is probably staying up late themselves, because they haven't yet decided what they are releasing in a few hours!

That is a very bold statement to make... Do you have a source?

The Air has been out for under 2 months and you are comparing it to the cube? Also, look at the Apple website where Air availability is listed just like the iPhone was. Check a few states.. I am amazed by how many stores do not have stock. If the Air wasn't selling up to expectation, each and every store would be in stock. Many, Many stores are sold out. It seems like they are selling more than they expected, since stores are sold out of stock 2 months after release.

around what time should we check the website?

Very true...and people keep trying to place consumers that the Air appeals to into the same group of consumers as the MB or MBP. If you want an ultra portable - then the Air's for you. If you're looking for FEATURES - then indeed the MB or MBP is a better choice.

People need to learn to compare Apples to Apples and Oranges to Oranges (pardon the pun).

i bought my macbook and opened my macbook today, am i really gonna get screwed over with the 10% restocking fee?

I got mine on Feb 13th, and am clearly in the same boat. If it gets aluminum case, I won't be interested however the multi-touch trackpad is a must. I hope, in a sick way, the Macbook doesn't get upgraded for many months. Also, I thought it was 15%?

Say it ain't so!

This is just getting way out of hand.

The epic SDK will release tomorrow, and there will be much rejoycing. There will be no Macbooks yet. A lot of effort has gone into the SDK for there to be such a messed up thing to happen.

Interesting, so I'll be able to purchase this SDK at my local Future Shop/Best Buy at 2 price points?! I did see a pic of teh folks at he apple store taking the old SDKs down, maybe to put out the new SDK's? I just want the SDK to have anodised aluminum casing. Do you think the SDK is worth $1149?

I haven't read past this post because it says it best.
