I stopped by the Apple store in the Toronto Eaton Centre on my way home from school today. I was checking out the MBA and noticed that the other side of the table, where MacBooks are usually displayed, was empty. All of the information and prices were still there, but the machines themselves were gone.
I asked an employee if they were making room for new products. She laughed and said that they're just reimaging those MacBooks.
It's a pretty small display. There are usually only 3 MacBooks there, and there were still others scattered throughout the store. But is it usual practice to take all 3 computers out of a display for reimaging? I would think they'd have others to rotate in or something. It is Apple after all, they take a lot of pride in their displays. It got me thinking that maybe we'd see a MacBook update tomorrow instead of MBP. Then I saw this rumor. Then again, if they were replacing the MacBooks, they could easily have just waited for the new ones to be released before removing the old ones from the display.
Anyway, it probably doesn't mean anything, but I thought I'd throw another log into the speculation flame.
