Why does that say Macintosh Powerbook ?
It's from leaning your wrists on the edge of the Macbook when typing. The enclosure's edge is fairly sharp and uncomfortable. What is the sharp edge problem?
Anybody else saw that ?
Product type: Brown goods ??
wtf ??
Any possibility they are going to combine the lines (MB AND MBP) and leave the MBA as the new macbook and have a new line, not called pro which is the high end laptop?
Interesting. I could see a blurring of the lines from three classes of end users to two, with more power options on the new Macbook (or whatever they may call it).See post 169 above. Not likely but anything is possible.
This is interesting. When I go to the MacBook page, and hit "Buy Now", it takes me to the UK store page. When I click Buy Now on any other product, it takes me to the normal US page.
EDIT: The same seems to happen with the MPB.
I just purchased a mid range macbook from best buy. Do you think if it is a macbook update they will be able to honor me returning this and getting the updated version. I just bought this on Sunday! :-(
wtf, macbooks on tuesday? where's the logic in this?
this would be the fastest macbook update in history.
not only does it make poor business sense to create such a technological gap between the two SKUs...
..but what about the hardware considerations for this? i mean from intel's current crop of processors, what is likely to happen here with speeds/features?
surely you must take that into consideration when passing around such a rumor. shouldn't MR be commenting on the the tech side of the update as well to better gauge the likeliness of this happening? (instead of just taking a shot in the dark)
from a processor/platform/hardware component/speeds perspective....IF this were true what would be the likely configuartion?
Sorry if this has already been posted, but I think this letter is where all the confusion is stemming from.

Hey there,
I work for the German Apple-Retail Chain gravis (gravis.de)
and have just received new information about tomorrows product updates I can tell you there will be NO new MacBook Pros!
But the MacBook line will receive some updates. I dont have precise information about this update, but afaik its only a minor one. Coming along with this upgrade, there is also a price-drop for the MacBooks (at least in Germany). The new low-end MacBook will be on sale for 999. If this means any price-drops in the States is uncertain, as I have not received any information about it.
The MacBook Pro updates will also be delayed until (at least) April, due to Sony having some problems with their Blue-Ray SuperDrives. Afaik the Combo-Drives (reading Blue-Ray, but not writing them) are ready to be shipped, but Apple turned them down demanding SuperDrives, which -according to Sony- still suffer from some problems. (The blue laser does not seem to work correctly as does the slot-in mechanism I have no idea why this mechanism works with the ComboDrives though Big question-mark here!) It is also still uncertain whether the MBPs will receive a major upgrade e.g. new cases or not, but Blue-ray Drives will definitely come!!!
Well thats all I can tell you right now, but if I receive any new information youll be the first to know.
