Or maybe a dual 72" Mac Pro at $10,999.

If they release MacBooks tomorrow this whole place is going to be like Chris Farley when they switched his coffee with Folger's Crystals.

LOL MR!!! Smart move putting this on Page 2 for now. There are 3 scenarios in which this forum will be a bloodbath tomorrow.

1. Nothing happens tomorrow.
2. Macbooks not MBPs
3. MBPs come out but don't include 'something' like a free trip around the world.

And watch for any news/rumor posted till the new MBPs come out, receive WAY more negative ratings simply out of spite.

hahahahah and I will be pissed cuz I just bought a macbook. Best buy better honor the update I will be so pissed withe a 15 percent restocking fee

my apple history:

1. bought the iphone in september after a long thought process for$ 599.the next day it was dropped to $399

2. Sold that iphone to my sister, because is was all scratched up, and i had a bunch apple cards to get rid of, so i gave her my old and bought a new one with the gift cards.....next day the 16gb was released.

3. And thursday , i bought a new Macbook Pro 2.4 ghz off ebay, so i am willing to bet that mine will be delivered tomorrow around the same time the Updated version is released. i will almost guarantee it.

Wow, you really do have the kiss of death. Very impressive. ;)

LOL, if it's MBs and not pros this site is gonna get taken down by the obscenely large amount of traffic as furious, would-be MBP buyers post rant after rant. And once this site is down, they'll grab pitchforks and torches, and storm Cupertino. :D

Yea MR just the juices flowing today with all of these rumors. It's going to be an interesting day tomorrow on here no matter what happens. The worst thing that can happen is if there is no updated MBP/MB. What would make it funny is if the Apple store goes down and comes back up with new ipod nano colors haha. This place would goes nuts.

I'm fully prepared to leave a flaming bag of dog poo on the front steps of Apple Inc. if they release a macbook instead of a macbook pro tomorrow.

Would an update to the material of the current MacBook casing be a "minor" update? Say they move them to the silver and black anodised aluminum like the current generation iPods and add multitouch, would that be beyond the realm of minor?

I just bought a black MacBook on Sunday after finally giving up on the MBP update.

It's a great little machine and I figured I'd now have to watch the MBP model change from the sidelines, but at least I'd have an up to date MB to do it from. But if the MB gets updated tomorrow!!!!!!

Blood curdling screams will resound across my part of Sydney. I might just drive out to the airport, buy a ticket, sit on a United/Qantas plane for 14 hours to get to LA, rent a car, drive up to Cupertino and personally join the rampaging mob.

Do international participants have to bring their own pitchforks? ;)

I will kill myself if they release a Macbook with a better video card tommorow.

:(

If it's just a design or an upgrade to pernyn, i could care less :D

Macbook and MAcbook Pro merge?

Has anybody thought, that it would be possible to merge the two lines
It's logical; to give mb alu, so what's missing? the backlight keyboard? u might as well add that and voila what u get is macbook/pro line 13" with integrated graphics, 15 -17" with dedicated vram,

I mean people who want grpahic power want also a bigger screen,
so the 13 inch can stay fine without it.

all other specs are so close u might as well merge the two lines.

cheers

It may seem like a "cover-your-ass" but there's a reason the original story ("MacBook Pros on Tuesday") was rewritten to "New Apple Products on Tuesday".

This is that reason. Besides, predicting MacBook updates is so not a cover-your-ass story, as it's an entirely illogical update. It makes no sense. If I wanted to cover-my-ass and pick another likely possibility, MacBook updates would be at the bottom of the list.

Nice response, arn. There are those of us out here who fully appreciate the efforts you make on this site. Keep handling the site the way you do. You guys rock! :)

Bah

Even though the MacBook Pro is way more overdue for an update, isn't the MacBook due for an update (mostly design) too?

It is the only Mac that is still plastic- knowing Apple's product consistency, wouldn't it make sense to make the MacBook aluminium too?

Actually, not quite for #3.

As long as a new MBP comes out, even if the only difference is a an extra apple window sticker, I'll be "happy", sure I'm not about to have my new computer become an old model anytime in the next.. couple of months.

Of course, I'm hoping for a processor upgrade, the iphone touchpad, and whatever else they wanna throw in like a better graphics card, a date with heidi klum, money...

Wouldn’t a new aluminium Macbook be THE NEW 13" MACBOOK PRO?

MariniPacioso said:
Since we have now 3 lines of Apple laptops (MB, MBP and Air), Apple is maybe going to dismiss the MBP series (or the MP one...), so that we'll have only two lines, just like it was until January. They maybe want to 'merge' MB and MBP, in order to push non-pro users to buy the Air.

Any possibility they are going to combine the lines (MB AND MBP) and leave the MBA as the new macbook and have a new line, not called pro which is the high end laptop?

I agree with these two posts. It is inevitable that plastic will be replaced by aluminium (because Apple’s focus on being ‘greener’), therefore, there will most likely be an aluminium Macbook soon. If there is an update to the Macbook this week, with improved speeds, multi-touch, LED screen, maybe backlit keyboard, AND aluminium case, then tell me: ‘why wouldn’t this new Macbook then be the new 13" Macbook Pro?’ Didn’t Apple originally want all the 12" Powerbook users to upgrade to the existing Macbook (but many didn’t because the Macbook was plastic and perceived as a consumer range product)?

The features and power of the Macbook and Macbook Pro range are very close, even closer if MB gets updated this week, (with just the plactic casing being the ‘obvious’ difference), so I could easily see Apple combining the new aluminium Macbook with the Macbook Pro range, and dropping the price of the Macbook Air in the near-future to become the new consumer laptop.

My prediction is that there will be just two laptop ranges. One for the consumer that is light, stylish, short on features but ideal to use in conjuction with iTunes movie downloads and connecting to their iPods (Macbook Air). One for users who need more power with 13", 15" and 17" screens (all aluminium, with graphic chips, faster processors, etc). A clean, clear and simple range. Would Apple not go in this marketing direction?

So for all those waiting for a new MBP, quit moaning if this week sees a new Macbook instead of a MBP. Most likely it will be aluminum which would mean: it is a new MBP!

Yay! Welcome a new baby to the family guys! :apple::)

Would changing the current 13" MacBook over to aluminum be considered a minor update though?

i think an iMac revision is VERY soon, i just checked the UK apple save store, and there was nothing there... seemed like a bug, anyway, i went back 5 mins later... and what did i see 'limited time special purchase' (non refurbished) iMacs!!

check it out:
http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=AA9C1547&nclm=Certified

if this isn't evidence, then i don't know what is!

They all say refurbished at that link. [Edit] Sorry missed the similar response. Responded on reading before getting to end of thread.
