Not sure how many of you guys use Ultra-wide monitors, but one new feature is
Now you can get higher resolutions on ultrawide displays, such as 5K at 120Hz. And your display arrangements stay exactly as you left them, for a seamless experience every time you plug in.
To compare, I have a 57” Samsung Dual-4K. My previous M3 Max handled Dual 4K at 120hz and my M4 Pro also handled at Dual 4K/120hz.
I’m curious how this would change anything

I have Mail and Firefox Nightly set to open on boot/login.
Neither started after rebooting just now (although they did start after the reboot the installer did).
I deleted and re-added them both to login items, and they now start as expected.
Two other apps I have in the menu-bar weren't affected.

The icons are barely visible when you set them to clear. Most likely a bug, but just thought I'd share.
Unable to connect my LG Ultrafine 4K monitors. Only one of them is working now and I'm running M5 Pro. Hoping they fix this soon.

same issue here as well, no idea what app is causing it, quit everything in activity monitor and its still there
EDIT: Found it. iPhone Mirroring live activities is bugged, disable it in system preferences.

The combination of the blobbier liquid glass buttons and the flat gray sidebars really looks thoroughly gash. I guess I'm going to need to move any buttons out of the sidebar in all of my apps.

Dark mode liquid glass menus and toolbar icons are truly awful, regardless of what slider setting you have. Grey washed out backgrounds and jello like blobs.
I severely hope Apple does something about the excessive use of horrible shades of gray both in light and dark mode. Sidebars and toolbars in their current state feel like a regression, which is crazy.

Okay so this is a big one:
Screen recording now lets you capture audio and show mouse clicks! (It's buggy right now, ended up with a semi-permanent darkening of my screen somehow).
EDIT: Restart fixed it of course, but just a heads up. Could also have been caused by conflicting screenshot collisions as I tried to screenshot the cmd-shift-5 ui with cmd-shift-4 😛

It's the same character viewer you get when you use the keyboard globe icon. You can click the icon in the top right to return to the old layout.

I had similar issues prev. It turned out to be the realtime virus scanning on my Intego app.
The Siri app is stupid garbage, **** design like a kid vibe coded it in 3 minutes. I can’t attach files or URLs to any of my prompt requests.
I can’t figure out if I am talking to a modern AI model or the same scripted Siri crap we used for years. It’s behaving like the same old Siri and not a model at all. It does not even know I am using Golden Gate. All it does is hyperlink to FAQs and help docs instead of a true conversational AI.
Also the microphone input. I click on it to speak to Siri. A large black blob appears. It just looks ugly like a black hole has appeared on my monitor. I ask something, Siri responds, but when I want to continue the conversation it does not pick up my voice so I have to click on the keyboard entry icon and type instead. Sometimes a second black blob appears on the screen so now I have two blobs and the floating blob can’t be cancelled.
I don’t yet see improvements to the Siri voices. They are the same options as before.

Now the new Siri AI model is working. It seems when I was using it the model had not downloaded yet and Apple has not given the user any information or animation that tells the user the model has to download.
It seems to be an OK model. It can converse and pull information from the web. It’s probably a very censored model to make the autocrats at the EU and CCP happy.

A new bug in Golden Gate.
If you change system appearance (light/dark mode) while an app is open the toolbar and title bar doesn’t update until you relaunch the app.
The same bug can be seen if the app can change its own theme.

Can anyone check if they added "photo shuffle" as a wallpaper option? I love how on my iPhone and iPad it uses machine learning to pick pleasing photos from my photo library to use as random wallpapers, and it does a really good job. Hoping it makes it to macOS! I'm hoping that if they've added Image Playground as a wallpaper generator on macOS then maybe they've added Photo Shuffle as well.

On my M4 Pro the max scaled resolution is 3360x1418. With macOS 27 I can get up tot 3840x1620. This was a regression with the M4 Pro which they fixed now (M2 Pro goes up to 3840x1620 scaled with Tahoe no problems). For the base M-series it's definitely an improvement, it has never been never able to go higher than 3008x1269.
