I’m very pleased it was reverted back.

I loved iOS 7, loved Yosemite & I liked Big Sur (though my hope was that they were going to tone it down a little by 2021).

I Apple pushing their UX forward.

But Safari 15.0 was bad.

With the very functional - almost brutalist - new MBP, I hope we now see an emphasis on function over form in 2022’s MacOS.

Here’s hoping.

I feel like the only person that has liked everything they did with Safari, both on Mac with that design and on iOS with the address bar dropped to the bottom of the screen. Does this also rollback the way the nav bar inherits colors from the web page?
you're not alone. i also got used to it pretty much

There's nothing wrong with admitting defeat. People tried it, didn't like it... this is the best course. I've tried for a couple weeks now to get into the Safari changes on iOS, but its too difficult and I didn't have the "endurance" to stick with it. Life is too short. Thankfully, they have options to revert some of the changes to a more familiar setup.

I liked the new design too! It obviously could use a little tweaking to help with understanding what tab you're on but, yeah... also I'm glad they kept options available to revert to the new look :)

Good riddance. For me, in 'separate' view (or as I think of it, 'classic' view) a tab should be a tab. Not an elongated button.

I do like compact mode a lot more than I did initially, so I'm glad that's sticking around for times when I want the extra few pixels e.g when I'm on my MacBook. At least that view serves a functional purpose i.e. space saving and increased immersion (with colours enabled)

I hated the design change but then it forced me to use "compact" which I realized I really like better so I'm glad they did the "bad design" in the first place.

Wow I wasn’t expecting them to actually do it.
Now make the address bar bigger and we’re done

EDIT: Just installed the RC and found out you can just edit the toolbar to remove the spacer elements lol

Having to click the side bar button then click again for bookmarks in the new Safari is also very annoying.

I know its only one extra click but when your using it all day, its very annoying.

Please sort it out Apple :(

Update, it’s only available for the compact tab bar nowView attachment 1870063
I liked it and am glad you can leave it turned on. Not sure how it was so mind numbingly hard to understand which tab was active.... it was the only one that looked different than all the others.

Hell, while we're add it, let's bring back Sherlock for web search.

the new tabs were actually good. slicker. more modern looking.

I'm used to the compact bar now with new look. compact bar needs some refining tho.

Adding another whole mostly empty extra line just for url/search seems like a big waste of space.

The Monterey page mostly shows the button tab/compact bar look which doesn't jive with the article headlines.

Are the people at Microsoft using Windows? I wonder about that, too ;)
I think they are using MacOS, as Windows has gotten at least somewhat better in the last 10 years. While Apple has switched to Windows, as MacOS has only gotten worse in the last 10 years ;)

I really don't understand why the redesign was so hated upon, nobody was forced to use it and it's not like there was not an option to switch back from it. 🤔
