Seems redundant given the widgets bar is, like, right there… but seven(?) years later and I still can’t get in the habit of using that thing.
Ditto... I'll see your widgets and I'll raise you "Launchpad". I just don't use it, as long as it has been part of the OS, as I should. I still stubbornly use the finder or go route for apps.

It is a fine feature, good alternative to widget, but how should I squeeze it in already super busy menu bar (with the notch) :) it would be really nice to have some good native menu bar management…

this is 1000% useless. Why even bother with this if you can't show the weather properly. I have latest iOS and watch with watchOS, but it still can't show the basic weather. It is always showing 0% rain, even when its pouring cats and dogs outside! #$%#$%!

I hate the widget bar too.

Bring back the dashboard!!! That was awesome. A full screen place for you to position widgets as you please…. And so much better than littering your desktop with widgets you have to stare at all the time.

And I’m also concerned that the menu bar is getting too full. Dashboard was literally the perfect solution, before Apple trashed it

Dare I mention for how long this has been a thing on Windows? I had been using an app called Meteorologist to get the same feature on my Mac. Time to also add a decent calendar as menu bar option.
Menucalendarclock used to be the best app till it was abandoned. Now I use a bit of donationware called itsycal and I works well for me.

Apple doesn't twist your Apple Silicon to use these items in the menu bar. Don't need then don't use but others who do can.

UPDATE: I installed 15.2 last night, and it did not take me to beta 2 - just beta 1. I now have to update a 2nd time to beta 2. 🙄

I just upgraded to 15.2 beta, how do I get this to show up? It's not in settings...

It sounds like you're more opposed to any type of weather forecast offered by anyone than against this particular feature. I think of this is just one more quick option to see an upcoming weather projection that you can either take or leave.

For me, aside from using Siri, swiping to a hot corner to display the desktop and having weather widgets open is just as good as clicking the menu bar (but I don't have a general issue with forecasts).
I think you meant to reply to someone else.

Still missing a calculator widget. And sticky notes widgets. I miss dashboard.
There were latency issues with widgets interacting with the keyboard. Unless those are solved then a calculator use as a widget would be very frustrating.

I kinda do. But I won't really miss it either if it's gone tomorrow. And at this point I only have three widgets on my desktop to spice things up a bit. But again there: I won't really mind if the feature is axed tomorrow. The concept of widgets always seemed really cool and useful, but in practice their usefulness are sorta underwhelming to me. I still use the Menu Bar far more frequently for a quick glance at the time than anything else.

And I’m also concerned that the menu bar is getting too full.
I genuinely don't get the concern here. Most Menu Extras are optional, so just get rid of some things that aren't really necessary. For third-party apps that add a persistent Menu Extra item I simply hide them with Ice. Granted, it would be nice if the latter could be achieved natively by macOS.

Useful, definitely. But is this really an OS upgrade worthy feature? The bar existed already, the bar was already extensible, so surely this can be just an application update? 3.09GB and 20 minutes to update...

Hey… nice (and unexpected) addition to macOS.

In the future they could integrate some kind of Activity Monitor on the menu bar, showing the CPU, GPU and RAM.
Why would they? Activity Monitor is a debugging tool for when computer "misbehaves", it does not have any information that you need to actively monitor.

You don't have a single reason to care about any of the metrics you've mentioned. Operating system is smart enough to push unnecessary stuff into swap. If your CPU or GPU is pushed to 100%, then you probably already know why.

You don't need AM for software development either. Just use debugging tools of your IDE ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ they're more precise and convenient.

I also recommend everyone to disable these little dots under currently running Mac apps in Dock. Why do I care if the app I need was previously open or not? You just press the icon and get the result. Instantly if lucky; bouncing icon if unlucky.

Modern computers don't require micromanagement, and it's been that way for 15 years. Maybe more.

Agree, Spotlight is super useful, didn't know it did weather though - how do you get it to show?
I didn't either to be honest, was just trying it out and noticed it did it. For example if you type local weather you get a widget displayed, or weather tomorrow. Or weather [cityname]. It is pretty cool.

Does the same with stock tickers...

I used Spotlight so often, both hands are on the keyboard anyway so a quick apple spacebar press and there it is. Love it.
