On my iPad mini first gen old design looked much better and was more convenient, I now have to scrool much more, spaces and fonts are bigger it is not convinient.

Much prefer the old style forum jump, the new one called "quick (slow) navigation" is slow to load and the box is too small, it makes it harder to find what you are looking for as there isn't enough in view at any one time.

A forum of this size needs to have really good navigation, if the navigation is poor people will only look at what they came to look for then go elsewhere, if it is awkward to navigate people like myself might not be bothered to do just general browsing around the site and just bookmark the news and discussions thread then go elsewhere when finished reading that section, it needs to be quick and easy to move around the site.

I believe there is an add on for xenforo that is just like the old forum jump, i am sure i have seen it on xenforo's own website, they don't use it themselves but i am sure i read it was available on one of the development threads on there own website.

avforums.com in the uk moved to xenforo quite a while ago now and made a right hash of it, there amount of users online has gone down considerably since the move. Mind you you have made a much much better job of it from the off than they did, there's is still a mess after all this time, the owner will just not listen to its users.

I used to spend most of my time on avforums.com, but since they moved to xenforo i spend most of my time on this forum now, as they made such a bad job of it i hate using it and only go there if i am desperate to find something out about av equipment or to sell something. Av forums in the UK would almost be dead now if it wasn't for the classifieds. Lets hope i don't have to find another site to spend my time on now you have made the move as well. You have a much bigger customer base here and will get a lot more feedback, i hope you listen and improve the site accordingly.

Quick and easy navigation is a MUST for me or i just don't bother using it.

Beside this you have made a pretty good job of it, is has its faults be you are currently getting plenty of feedback on them from other users.

So please please please can we have the old style forum jump back.

Agreed. It's killing my eyes. Definitely needs some contrast. Way too much white. Please fix.
Yeah, this new white/bright cornea-busting trend is getting the best of me. It reminds me of when Evernote released the current OSX version and I had to downgrade to be able to focus.

Well I need an avatar update :(

I was thinking the same thing. Might be time to finally retire my golden hackintiosh 'tar. ;)

The format will take a bit of time to get used to, but it does look pretty clean. I question how much white space there seems to be though and if that's the best use of space? I'll have to play around with more of the forum features to get a better idea of the other changes but I definitely don't mind it so far.

As always, design change mostly just for the sake of change. This is more difficult to navigate. Be nice if you had announced it before I wondered what went wrong with my MacBook.

It all feels a bit too big, not sure if that's just me though! Although I do think it's about time the forums were updated!

I think that the size and layout is a great improvement. I had to massively zoom in previously in order to be able to read this on my mbp 15" screen - and then everything was nearly edge to edge and horrible for scrolling. This is legible (for me) even without zooming in. I haven't tried it yet on either my ipad or iphone - but I had the same problem there with the old design, but to an even greater degree - it was practically unusable.

I do not think it is too bright at all (someone else's comment); and the response edit/box is excellent. I do also agree with the question as to the prominence of the post ID# (ie, #50). ?

One thing I wish you brought back was the member since date under their Macrumors name and number. It is sort of nice to see how long people have been around when reading what they have to say.
agree completely. it helps a lot when judging what someone has said and deciding how obscure you can be when replying!

Not surprised to see a lot of complaints here since most people on this forum are so conservative. Everything that changes is bad.

Me on the other hand like it a lot. Well needed and well done.
If you more carefully read through the complaints, you will discover that people are not just saying "I don't like marmite", they are all focusing on not the aesthetics per se, but the READABILITY! How has that to do with being conservative and not liking new stuff. It is just about how good something can be used. (In this case the new aesthetics go in hadn wih how things are readable, not because they have a fancy new colour, but because of such things like space)!
I appreciate the new design. But as a long time reader, I'm more impressed with the moral courage any kind of change to this forum requires. Let's be honest, MacRumors readers are a volatile bunch and who hasn't been impressed by the expressions of rage when iOS gets an updated font?

Still, it's a grand opportunity for all those people (you know who you are) whose eyes hurt/bleed whenever they see something just slightly new to let the world feel their pain.
See the answer to the quote above.
MacRumors announced that it would be switching to XenForo over 7 months ago in November 2014.

See here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/migrating-to-xenforo.1823418/

I think that is more than enough notice.
Did I get an email notification? I must have missed it *rolleyes-smiling*

There are several threads about this now.
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/what-the-sam-h-has-happened-to-my-forum.1888140/page-7
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/new-forum-and-powerpc.1888192/
And all complaints are about readability. (Despite the PowerPC/TFFx problems). I'd like to gather the people (those that like it and those that do not) in one place and make a poll to evaluate, if this has something to do with certain factors. (like devices, screens, wearing glasses)
where would be a good place to put such a poll? (MOD note: I really don't plan to do this for protest, but for evaluating. It could well be, that it helps "the team" sort out, if the design is only unsuitable to one certain device etc.)

Possible options could be:
- I like it (viewing it mobile)
- I don't like it (viewing it mobile)
- I like it (viewing on a Laptop)
... (viewing it on old powerpc laptop)
I like it (viewing it on a 4:3)
...
etc.

Oh, and I made a screenshot, what is the sense behind what I have marked red? Do I not get shown all post in chronological order and page per page, per default? Where does the "view more posts" lead me to, when I am already seeing more posts and page numbers?

I use an ibook G4 12" with 1024x768.

No old-style forum jump was a bad choice. Having a "Similar Threads" jump, but no easily found back to the top makes little sense to me.
There is much too much glaring white, it is hard on my old eyes!
I had a hard time getting the site to recognize my password, had to get a new one to solve that ... check your related procedures? Except for the glare, and the difficulty in navigating, the new design is OK but certainly I cannot consider it finished or polished.

Nice overall design - but Not very adaptive. Looks massive on on my 2560 x 1600 what does it look like on a smaller or larger screen.

Zero width adaption wider than 1280- Bit 1999 that!

Old design was IMHO much better. I maintain my Trackpad++ driver related thread there at MacRumors since 2012, so I'm frequently lurking there and posting. And today I feel like something is definitely wrong with the design. Well, maybe not the design itself, but the perception has changed, and not to the best.
